Foreign Affairs / Re: Lockdown Lifted In Accra And Kumasi, Ghana. Ghanaians Rejoice by vaxx2: 8:13pm On Apr 20, 2020
Litmus:
Lock-down is not for poor nations, Ghana is taking a calculated risk that runs the chances of turning out well for the fledgling ecyonomy. Nevertheless, oh what horrible dilemma faces the government, weighing the high number of deaths that may arise by forgoing lock-down, against bankruptcy and instability that may occur by continuing with lockdown? I for one wish them the good fortune that they don’t wish us in those Troll Houses from where they trash Nigeria’s image.
lockdown is also never for rich nation either , there is reason America take it so long before coming up with the idea of locking down. Germany despite the lockdown, her manufacturing company are still working, China never lock down Shanghai( economy power house and Beijing ( seat of the govement) which are very close to wuhan where the virus was first discover. so locking down is a calculated risk for both poor nation and rich nation . no one is really safe. economic implication is as important as humanity safety.

now back to Ghana, Ghana has really done her homework very well before considering lifting the lockdown. this is a country that is ranked among the top 20 countries in the world testing for coronavirs in terms of per capita. What it means is that Ghana is one of the leading countries in the world embarking on massive testing for COVID-19 as far as country's population and rate of testing is concerned.

in testing per capita, GHANA is number one across africa and the number two in Africa behind South Africa in terms of number of people tested. this is for a country that is less than 30 million. more than 70 thousand have been tested so far base on today data .

Speaking at at the launch of GH COVID-19 Tracking App (an app for tracking cases and tracing contacts of confirmed cases), Vice President Bawumia attributed Ghana's high and rapid tests to the availability of data through technology and government's determination to chase the virus.

i can even tell you Ghana has taken more decisive and swifter action than many developed countries in the world did within a month of confirmed cases.

For instance, while it took the United States nearly two months after its first confirmed case to declare a national emergency, the government of Ghana banned all public gathering in Ghana just four days after the confirmation of first case

And Ghana's has done more than 70 ,000 tests within a month of its first confirmed case , that is higher than tests conducted by the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom within six weeks of their first official case.

You always talk as if Ghana has grudges with Nigeria when every country is charting their own interest and want .

Nigeria is not doing community testing like many African nations.

We solely go to the epicenters. I honestly don't see d need for community testing if preventive measures are in place.
Ghana is not doing community testing either ?

I have no idea what you meant by the airlines thing. On a personal level I think about a million naira plus. It is at that amount the bank starts thinking of you as a service as opposed to a human being. Their workers start visiting you unsolicitedly talking about one investment or the other you can put your money into, helping them meet their targets for the year. If you have one smallie you set your eyes on you can woo her with confidence, she too needs to meet her target.
That is just 5 thousand dollars . i doubt any banks will take such client serious. you are just a normal customer. you aren't even notice at the top level of management team . you will only be entitled to the random monthly message , SMS alert for your banks update and frequent calls for banks that has social interaction policy( this might even be an automated machine contact not human to human interaction)5 thousand dollars isn't a biggy for serious bankers....
.

maybe in a micro finance settings , such a client may win a sliver plate .

The airlines thing is simply my own coined word to classify how bankers will consider your wealth.

Business / How Much Money Do I Need For Bankers To Think I Am Rich.? by vaxx2: 9:53pm On Nov 29, 2019
in this era of inequality and continuous growth of wealth . some country like China are projected to have about 450 millionaire in the next 10 year's. that is around 20 percent of China billion population. Africa case is not encouraging, it is like we are sleeping .

Here in Africa, how much do you think you must have in your account for bankers to think You are rich? ...

in my own opinion , using the airline buisness language ..

economy-class rich. 100 million naira .
.
First class- 200 million.naira

Private-jet rich- 1 billion naira

my estimation are based on dollar rate..

what do you think ?

The terrain matters..cities built on hilly areas rarely flood unless they built on riparian areas.Of course flooding from sea storms like happen in Mozambique is different ballgame
nature is a respecter of no one , hilly area can experience flash flooding.

From the office of the president....

""On Friday, 29th November, 2019, I cut the sod for the construction of the $993 million Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam and Irrigation Project, which, upon completion, will be the single, largest investment ever made by any Government in the Northern sector of the country. It is in fulfillment of a pledge tmade to the Ghanaian people.

The Pwalugu Multipurpose project will consist of three main components, namely the construction of a 60 megawatt hydropower plant; a 50 megawatt solar farm; and the establishment of an irrigation scheme covering an area of some twenty-five thousand (25,000) hectares.

I was also at Pusunamungu, in the Upper East Region, where I cut the sod for the construction of the Rock Estates affordable housing project, being undertaken by the State Housing Company.

Development taken shape in Northern Ghana....

Flooding is more about clogged drainage and less about sea water moving inland.Cities that flood are mostly flat like Nairobi.
water can overwhelmed any drainage infrastructure be it flat or rough? . coastal city are likely more prone cus it is easier for water to be overflown while inland cities are also prone to this as well but not as coastal city ..... the gap diffrence is likely 80 to 20 in a well developed city .

Yes this Airport & that hospital impresses. I hope Ghana can start moving towards such world class infrastructure - not become a mini-nigeria - with urban sprawl that is look so hideous.
Your validity is absolutely meaningless. you can keep it right in your ass.

FDI directed where? Mineral & Oil sector? At least Ethiopia can talk about REAL FDI.,
So your natural resources isn't enough to gain more FDI right. your mountain and animals aren't bringing investment right ? then crash them or sell them off. if natural resources is a liability in Kenya .
