Soso990240: nt true.u can get original CDs 4 as low as #1500Let's be practical, who would invest #1500 on even an original CD in a country where poverty is widespread and also considering that there is no adequate protection of intellectual property in this country. Any artiste going into music in Nigeria knows that even though money can be made via the sale of musical albums, the bulk of money actually comes from shows and concerts. That's why even the A-list artistes post their new songs online for free download, bearing it in mind that if the songs becomes a hit, that translates to more concerts, more endorsements and more caller-tunes download (in a country of over 130million GSM subscribers). How else can we explain Iyanya making tens of millions of Naira from a single hit 'Kukere' without even releasing an album yet? I sincerely hope that one day, our copyright laws and IP rights will be made to favour the entertainers (in music, movie, comedy and literature) who invest so much time, energy and resources to produce good stuffs that we like. In a country of over 160million people, nothing stops 2face Idibia from being as rich as Usher Raymond, or Wizkid being as rich as Justin Beiber or Tiwa Savage being as rich as Mariah Carey- what we need is proper orientation, proper laws and punishments for offenders and of course, improving the standard of living of Nigerians so we can afford to patronize original copies (person wey no sure of 3 square meal no go tink of any yeye CD) . For me o, downloading is the way for now! 1 Like |

Gombs: Let me knw wen u understand the difference between scholarship and sponsoring!...and I emphasised on poor (rural) children. Send me d link of poor rural children being sponsored. And we all knw MTN's scholarship does not tk u all tru primary or secondary or university does it?...sponsoring should take u tho. Am reading through this comment and am yet to find a single sense in it! This is even worse: Gombs: So if say Nuhu Ribadu was heading the flood relief warreva, he wud as well have given to the cause shey? Or u saying because dangote is wealthy n d govt tinks because he's wealthy "he'd surely give monies for the cause"? Gombs:So that what will happen? Will they remove his name from Forbe's list of African enterpreneurs? Gombs:So that they will become the major targets of ur BOKO HARAM brothers abi? Technically, anyone who tries to help the victims/families of bomb attacks becomes an enemy of those terrorist! This is something a low IQ wouldn't know anyway. Gombs: Send me links of how MTN created jobs for graduates (ask Jos call centre folks aw far)Confirmation of a very low IQ! Directly and indirectly, MTN has provided over 350,000 jobs. https://www.nairaland.com/1089097/mtn-subscriber-base-hits-183m And am sure if they decide to leave Nigeria today, some members of your family will be affected. Gombs: And why even emphasise on MTN? I never said they dnt do CSR, did I? You brought MTN in the equation as a CSR giant and Dangote was doing CSR!...read back the thread for evidenceOh my.....you contradict yourself! Didn't you say: Gombs: So na CSR dangote do for super eagles and health workers? Gombs: Let me knw wen u understand the difference between scholarship and sponsoring!...And we all knw MTN's scholarship does not tk u all tru primary or secondary or university does it?...sponsoring should take u tho.According to the dictionary, scholarship is a sum of money or other aid granted to a student, because of merit, need, etc., to pursue his or her studies. Sponsorship is to support an event, activity, person, or organization financially or through the provision of products or services. Simply put, Scholarship is a form of educational sponsorship. I don't know where you got your own definition of sponsorship having to be from creche to tertiary education. Half-informed dude...SMH! Gombs: Send me d link of poor rural children being sponsored.U seem to be a link-craving dude! MY LAST COMMENT!! No matter how hard I try, U just won't get it. <5% |

Gombs:ON EDUCATION http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=81388%3Amtn-expends-n510-million-on-scholarship-awards-to-nigerian-students&catid=55%3Acompulife&Itemid=391 MTN donates N510 million on scholarship awards to Nigerian students. http://scholarship-positions.com/2013-mtn-foundation-science-and-technology-scholarship-in-nigeria/2012/10/15/ Maybe you haven't heard of the annual MTN foundation sci & tech scholarship in Nigeria. And for your dump question 'Aw many times av u seen or heard (even in rumour) dat MTN sponsored just 10 poor (rural) children's education?', you have GOOGLE as your friend! ON HEALTH http://www.punchng.com/metro/mtn-donates-n500000-for-shot-babys-treatment/ MTN donates 500,000 for baby shot in Lagos. http://naijapositive.myfastforum.org/archive/lagos-healthcare-boosted-with-mtn-dialysis-centre__o_t__t_4580.html Lagos Healthcare boosted with MTN dialysis centre http://www.tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/component/k2/item/1909-mtn-boosts-ngozi-nwosu’s-medical-treatment-with-n1m MTN donates 1m to Ngozi Nwosu's treatment You may also want to google: MTN donates ambulances to LASG MTN. Mtn donates mordern dialysis equipments to abuja national hospital. MTN partners Delta State govt on security, donates five patrol vehicles. MTN spends N1.2b in 7 years for the fight against HIV. MTN donates appliances to 400 DISABLED persons in Osun State. MTN gives grants to Nigerian youths in enterprenual competition. To mention a few. Now this is my perception of what true CSR should be all about. On Dangote's donation for the flood victims, please what would you expect from the Co-Chairman, Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation? Do you think he was appointed there for sake of formalities? Precise, MTN also donated to the flood victims. http://www.mobileworldmag.com/mtn-nigeria-donates-relief-materials-to-flood-disaster-victims.html CSR is a process with the aim to embrace responsibility for the company's actions and ENCOURAGE A POSITIVE IMPACT through its activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere who may also be considered as stakeholders. (Wikipedia,2012) Do you really understand the phrase 'ENCOURAGE A POSITIVE IMPACT'? I bet u don't, else you won't be asking 'Now,pls frm d above definition of CSR,how is MTN's CSR suppose to give footballers, killed health workers, etc with their 'MTN foundation'? So na CSR dangote do for super eagles and health workers? Na CSR adenuga do for super eagles shey? First bank no dey do CSR? Chevron nko? Aw comes dem neva eva give N500 to super eagles n killed health workers?' You need to google Corporate Social Responsibility and read thoroughly every article you find about it, instead of quoting a one-sided definition of CSR from Wikipedia. About Dangote's wealth, do you need an oracle to mention to you that there are many-a-investor in his business? I seriously understand that you really can't comprehend my argument, but I cannot fathom why you won't just shut up! And if you're in any way thinking I have an interest in MTN, then the 5% I aportioned to you as the level of ur IQ (out of my generosity though) is way too much! |

Gombs:Initially, when I started reading your post, I had hoped that it will make sense, but every word you wrote further exposed how myopic ur brain is (no offence intended)! If Dangote no be charity organization nko? Haven't U heard of CSR? Someone like you obviously celebrates mediocrity! We have MTN Nigeria that is not an Indigenous company, yet they are corporately decent enough to channel a lot of their profit on helping sick people, sponsoring poor children's education amongst other worthy cause through their MTN foundation. I guess the CSR of Glo and Dangote is to 'further enrich the rich'! And please STFU, what do u even know about Dangote's wealth? And u open ur big mouth to ask 'is it not his money'? It is u who musn't comment on every post U see, coz obviously ur IQ is just about 5%. Am I not generous? |

The same Dangote that lavished a whooping N130 million on the Super Eagles is donating a mere N500,000 each to the families of people who were slain in the course of carrying out a more beneficial assignment for their country? These already successful footballers recieves cash and other gifts from state govts, federal govt, corporate organizations and so on! I do not object the fact that the Super Eagles be rewarded for their good performance @ AFCON, what I oppose is a situation whereby Nigerians (especially the very young ones) begin to have a perception that it is more honorable, rewarding and patriotic for people to engage in sports (esp football) than in community health services (such as the door-to-door immunization of children). We need to also motivate our health workers, farmers, and other Nigerians who are contributing to the development of our country Nigeria. 4 Likes |

I bet she must have been warned several times against the used of hard drug that eventually took her life...Why don't you stop relying on rumours and get your facts right. An anonymous so-called friend says she died of drugs and y'all believe that? When medical experts at the hospital have said the most likely cause of her death is pulmonary embolism-a case of deep vein thrombosis. My honest advice to you my brother is to do exactly as Igwe has said. Furthermore, you must at this point be very careful and be rather discreet in your investigations. When these criminals find out that you are hell-bent on exposing them, they will stop at nothing to get rid of you. God forbid! But remember that the heart of men - desperately wicked! Just use wisdom in all your dealings and if go no go, leave everything to God, who gave you life, protected you from your evil friends (who knows how many more evil they had planned against you), provided you with a better car and carried out vengeance on your enemies (abi u think say that accident just happen like that?). Justcash:Human beings by nature are difficult to govern. Even in the developed countries where everything seem to be working, we still have countless cases of offenders ranging from over-speeding, drunk driving, rape, assault, public disturbance and so on. This clearly shows that Nigerians are not different from citizens of other countries. We have a federal govt whose responsibilities in collaboration with the Legislative are to enact laws and ensure that citizens abide by them by meting out punishments to offenders. What has ur govt done to check the excesses of both the railway staff and commuters? I guess from your point of view, I am the one to enact and enforce the law! Nonsense. On why govt will not buy state of the art trains, its not because we do not have the funds to, its because its not the priority of the elites (who happens to be in the helm of affairs). Neither GEJ nor David Mark nor Sambo nor any minister or governor board those trains for any reason. If it were about building a government lodge, upgrading an airport, installing security gadgets in govt offices or organizing a banquet, they will definitely purchase standard state of the art facilities. Is so disheartening that people like you see things upside down! |
