Where can I get this movie? I've been searching for movies and documentaries about precolonial Africa for years?
It's on Iroko if you're still looking for it. Saw it a few days ago... it was going ok then just went totally off point at the end.

TV/Movies / Re: Gay Content In Hollywood Movies And Its Effect On Nigeria by VillageBoi(m): 4:33am On Jun 21, 2015
What a thread. I am 1000% sure that the GAYS in Nigeria are ALL the past/present politicians and their co-conspirators in various positions of power that bent this country over and screwed it well up the behind - and in public with no shame and 170/180m Nigerians were and are very happy voyeurs... in that case 14yrs minimum in prison for every single one of those politicians and their gang members... or better still every asset seized and a death sentence. But then again; we of absolutely ZERO morals are the ones singing their praises DAILY. Therefore, every Nigerian is a gay lover. QED!

These useless people have stolen every birthright you ever had and are extending the party; just sitting and waiting for you to give birth so as soon as she clocks 11yrs old and 1 hour... they will join your pikin to the list of 'must phuck' things.

ADULTS sleeping with ADULTS is not the issue at all. There are a million and one BIGGER ISSUES than that.

Did you know that universal action hero icon, Arnold Schwazzenegger is a two term governor of Carlifonia, the largest state in the United States, yet still overly dedicated to his career after leaving office in his old age? Did you know that The Lord of the Rings trilogy took several thousands of locations around the world to shoot?

Seriously @ OP? Jeez, how much rubbish is in this your post?

California; largest state in the US ke? You forgot Alaska & Texas.
LOTR shot in thousands of locations? Oh please!!

Not to mention all the other junk.
Well done!

But just in case @ Dammy... give us more info on the issue. Just read what you wrote again - 'Image can not be viewed' - what was it shot on and what are you trying to view it on. What was the card initially formatted as? And so on...

Hi check the copyright.

This is Duru Collins. I sent the first draft to you via Facebook.

Ah, no wonder... Couldn't recognise the username 'TheFilmmaker'... and didn't look at the bottom of the script.

Glad you changed the characters names from those silly white names to Nigerian names.

If you can get a copy of 'Data Rescue 3' it'll recover it. Dunno if the card is used for photos, video, audio - dont record anything else on the card until you have recovered it. Not sure how you format your cards but it's always a bit safer to format them in the camera or audio device you are using and not the computer. Sorry I can't be of more help.

TV/Movies / Re: OPINION: Power Vs Empire - Which Do You Think Is Better? by VillageBoi(m): 10:35am On Jun 07, 2015
They are both good and I enjoy them BUT I think 'Empire' has a big edge over 'Power' because it features a complete and dysfunctional family - and it seems the 'audience' relates to that better. Oh well, there must be millions of f**cked-up families all over the world wink

TV/Movies / Re: Why Is The "Contains Flash Photography" Warning Important In Some News Bulletin? by VillageBoi(m): 10:22am On Jun 07, 2015
No it isn't just a warning for the sake of it. Flash photography, even on a TV screen, can and DOES trigger off a seizures in people that suffer from photosensitive epilepsy... it's actually a very common trigger. And in some sufferers video games and fluorescent lights can also trigger a fit.
When I'm shooting an event I try as much as possible not to use a flash but still make sure they announce that there will be 'flash photography'... just in case.

Na wa o una really hate the film gan

You're welcome.

Was it a poor film? YES. Would I say 'hate'? NO.
They messed up; not the first film to do that... more sad for them because it had a lot of promise (especially for Nigeria & Nigerian filmaking)... but hey; it's what you get when you pair a greenhorn director with a book that's way too big for him to decipher.

Now the 'comedy' version... I can't stop chuckling.

Ah forget o their losses were huge, I feel so sorry for them

True shaa, sad for them as it was a $10m mega flop. I don't even think it's made $1m back.

US - $54,529
New Zealand - $37,763
UK - $214,101
Then add Nigerian figures (apparently $73,726 for DVD sales?? - no idea about actual 'box office' or if that is 'included') and that's about it.

Thank you Boss!! smiley

You're welcome and 'no', geography has nothing to do with what people cut on... they use every platform all over the world.

So, guys.. What's the best Post-Production Workflow in using After Effects and Premiere Pro. Like, do you edit first before applying effects?? Or what?

PS: I'm a Newbie in Film Making

cc: VillageBoi Speedyboi Sholay2011

So sorry I'm only just seeing this Brimmie; it's not a section that I check much. Briareos & the others have pretty much said it all. I use AE occasionally and don't edit in Premiere either. I edit in Final Cut and if I ever need to use AE I just export only the very small section that I've already edited in Final Cut.

Have adored these guys since I came across them a couple of yrs ago. They are not trying to be anything but what they actually are - ridiculously low-budget filmmakers and having fun figuring stuff out along the way.

guys am an aspiring filmmaker based in nigeria. i have some shot i did with my phone and pls village boi i need your comment on it. film making is my passion i have a budget of around 2 million naira to invest into cameras rigs light sound etc, dunno if they ll be enough but i know its a good way to start. my video link below, thanks in anticipation

About your video; not sure what I'm supposed to say - it's a few seconds of timelapse of you making faces - that doesn't tell or show us anything to be honest. It's actually funny you did that because when I started my first camera was a Canon 450D (no video only photos; was still saving for a video camera) anyway I wanted to make a short film so I took a few thousand photographs as an experiment and did a timelapse like you but with a tiltshift style -

Don't Rock The Boat

N2m is about $10K abi? It can get you started and as you start earning money from this you can invest in a few more things. You'll have to figure out what kind of camera route you want to take.

TV/Movies / Re: Help For A Script by VillageBoi(m): 11:16am On Apr 30, 2015
You may use a purpose built scriptwriting software to make life easier. Celtx is very ok and you can get it for FREE
Here is the PC link (those using a Mac can see where it says Mac and click there) - http://celtx.en.softonic.com/download

The general rule is ONE page = ONE minute of screen time. (of course there are pages that run longer and some run shorter)

An easy way for you to find out how long your script may be is to read it out and pace everything including all the descriptions; you'll get used to it after a while - does your 29 pages take 90 mins to cover? Probably not. Is your script also in the 'right' format?
There are of course directors that use 30 or so odd pages to make full-length feature films... such scripts are usually a bunch of notes, however, some fully written out scripts are also very short - a most recent example of one would be -
'All Is Lost' - a 32 page script that is made into a 106 min film. A bit more found here - https://www.nairaland.com/1582008/tension-masterclass-all-lost (Also adding the script here for you to have a look at - download and read as many screenplays as you can find; they are very helpful and you'll improve a lot)
I also believe Sofia Coppola’s 'Somewhere' is a 44 page script and it turns out to be a 97min film.

Also in general feature film scripts tend to fall between 90-120 pages but there is no 'concrete rule' about this. Some are shorter than that when written and some are obviously longer than that.

TV/Movies / Re: When Are We Going To Celebrate Nollywood For Getting Just An Oscar Nomination? by VillageBoi(m): 8:47am On Apr 27, 2015
speedyboi:

...it remains an American Award and that's it! People need to suck it up and accept that, cos its fact.
Thanks for the lengthy post telling us it's an American award; not that anyone in this thread or any of the others has said it isn't (if I remember correctly)... come on any 5yr old with a little bit of grey matter knows that so your point is what exactly?

speedyboi:

I always like to mention India as a booming industry that has not won Oscar ever! (not like India makes brilliant films anyway)
India as a nation hasn't won an Oscar and so what? We need to care about that because? They've had a lot of nominations and Indian people have won for their work in costume, sound mixing, original score and so on... but then again - so what?
According to you it's not like India makes brilliant films anyway... so 'you people' that believe your 'mediocre' should be given 'birthright awards'... welcome to the real world because that's not going to happen at the level of filmmaking I was talking about. And I know fully well that you DID read what was written but decided to pick a 'selective' beef with the Oscars. Here it is again -
VillageBoi:

You are very right in that getting an Oscar shouldn't be seen as the standard... it isn't seen as the standard anywhere, however, the quality of the films that can make it to the Oscars and any of the top 7 or so film festivals in the world should be the 'standard quality' we strive for.
Oh and Indian films have won various awards at Cannes, Sundance, Venice, Berlinale and pretty much every prestigious film festival worldwide... just saying since you're making a case for India.
And just to add... everyone knows the 'Oscar award' judges are clueless and biased; yet it remains one of the most talked about awards every year and will remain so for a very long time to come. Additional FACT, nations from around the world will continue to submit films in various categories so suck it up or keep crying your eyes out. Even your Indian friends have been submitting almost every year since 1957.

speedyboi:
Well, Nollywood is undisputedly actually the African Film hub! And its not just in the mind of Nigerians.....It's a known fact all over.
I'm not even going into this debate with you. If you believe that churning out the number of films we do with a very miniscule number having any form of quality makes Nollywood the undisputed hub of African filmmaking then so be it.
