I don't think it's fair...but it is what it is. If the company is not making enough profit or do not feel that your knowledge can contribute significantly to their bottom line, i can understand their reluctance to pay any more than that. You should consider other options including a career in Academia and Research. Also, I'd advise you draw up a list of Asset Management firms in the country and write a speculative application letters to each of them, you should ensure that each application gets into the right hands. This may sound extremely stressful, but i'd rather do this than stick with the ridiculous pay being offered and an uncertain future. Your degree and knowledge is impressive, you should strive to find job in a place where you actually belong. 2 Likes |

We plan.. We intend.. We will.. We shall... We anticipate... We expect... We hope... We may... We are... all forward looking statements with absolutely no substance. David Mark is a disgrace!...He is everything shameful rolled up in one single body. Under his watch as one of the longest serving senate President this country has ever had, the country's plight has gone from bad to horrifying. Our laws have been raped, Justice has been sold for cheap, free speech has been repressed, people have been blown up in their homes, horryfing scenes of air disasters have been forced upon us, more people are out of Jobs, our banks are no longer stable, the future has been stolen from our children's children. Senator Mark does not deserve the respect of any meaningful individual anymore. He will be remembered as one of those who came, looted us dry and left us empty. He will be remembered as the son of a worm who travels abroad on the public's watch while our hospital's have turned to morgues. He will be remembered as one, under whose watch, the people can no longer sleep safely in their own homes. Sentor Mark can keep his mouth shut!..This is not the time to distance himself from the dirt. He chose the side he wishes to be on ages ago, and it definitely wasn't with the People that elected him into office. I hope posterity continues to lay curses at their doorstep and to their graves. 11 Likes |

Only daft people will believe this trash! You will be very stoopid to believe that this group have good intentions to negotiate!...Negotiate what? A group says in plain words that its objective is to Islamize the entire country, enforce the use of Sharia law and kill anyone who doesn't believe in Islam, and you silly lots keep dreaming that maybe one day, they may become rational and reasonable enough to give up their plans....have we all suddenly gone mad? Boko Haram keeps blowing up people who haven't upset them in anyway or form. These group are also known to be linked to some of the world's renowned terrorist organization...and here we are wishing and hoping a single phone call will just make all of it go away in the dead of the night? Are we so gullible that we are incapable of learning the simplest things? These miscreants must be fought, that's the only way any of this will end. 1 Like |

Paentera: And why is this the case? Are people on Linkedn likely to be largely different from those on Facebook? I do have both accounts, and so does many other people i know. What difference does it make that a company reaches out to potential employees through either platforms? If companies have to pay more to recruit via LinkedIn than Facebook, then it makes more economic sense that they are likely to opt for the latter. Also, LinkedIn is estimated to have roughly 100million users while Facebook is believed to be closing towards the 1billion landmark. It means you are 10 times more likely to make better recruitment choices via Facebook than on LinkedIn. |

Maleeq: No thanks! I'd prefer to separate my social, albeit crazy, life separate from my professional life! It may be the case that you wouldn't have to apply for the jobs using your actual Facebook profile. I'm convinced that the platform is only likely to provide a link that may either take you to the recruiters application form page or an alternative page where you can simply submit your Resume and covering letters. |

Sorry to say this, but it does appear from your post that you are a little confused. I have often stressed to people that taking courses and certifications will never beat the cruel scars good ol' experience brings. 1) Your BSc in Microbiology Forget about the Microbiology bit, I'm more concerned that graduating with a 2:2 will send signals that you can't stay focused on your objectives and work hard enough for them. Don't try to be too defensive when explaining this to someone or a future employer ---"I only knew what the heck i was doing after 3 years at uni" ---...not a good story, not for someone who hopes to be in Management! Accept responsibility!..I'd rather say i had too many things to manage including family businesses and as such my commitment to my course suffered. But in the meanwhile, i have since learnt about my passion for management and I intend to stick to it till the sea runs dry! 2) NIM Please just hide this piece of trash!..don't ever include it in your resume as it adds no value whatsoever!...Everyone and their mums and their cats probably have the NIM certificate. It's just a scheme to milk corpers out of their registration fees and all that ish. If someone comes to my office with the NIM on his Resume, my immediate thoughts would be that maybe the individual is not capable of tougher ambitions or able to challenge his limits. 3) Masters in Project Management: Sounds good to me and it shows you are more focused and heading in the right direction. I want to do An MBA in Unilag starting in sept MBA is a tested and proven route for anyone aspiring to be in management. I'd stick to it! "I am also considering going into personnel Management By doing CIPM" More qualifications eh? How does this improve what you already have? It is my opinion that this wouldn't necessarily add any more value to what you can do which in my opinion should be the focus. I'm more likely to listen to someone who says "I managed 10 interns and two young analyst and channeled their resources to achieving the company's goals in the last two years"....the dude with the certification, to me, has only been able to spend many hours studying what other people have experienced. "On the other hand i am considering Doing IT courses like MCITP, etc" Okay, here's a recap: You are a Microbiologist who wants to learn personnel management, have an MBA, study for the PMP and also be an IT guru at the same time....here's my suggestion: why not add: a degree in law, the NCSP designation and a little touch of Medicine and pharmacy? You can't be everything dude!...you want to be in management, then focus on management!!! current experience as a Business Development Executive: You may not know it, but i believe this is a good opportunity to build your management skills. Step outside of your marketing limits and initiate a project at your place of work. Manage the project from start to finish leveraging your degree and gazillions of certificates. This project could be anything from cost reduction to maximizing profits or opportunities for growth. Make sure your Boss's boss understand what you are up to so you can take all the credit when it's time for it. Once the project is done, look for another project. You will begin to realize that all the things you look for in books and what not are actually available to you hands on, this will also give you better stories to tell at interviews on your managerial skills. Just imagine telling them how you helped your company reduce 20% of their operating cost!! goodluck! 3 Likes |

To have graduated with good grades shows a lot of hard work at UNI. But having good grades is only the beginning. You must be sure you know who you are and what you want. This is the part, I'm afraid, many people come to fail. Here's a classic question for you: Suppose you have a carte blanche to work at any company you want. Can you name at least 2 companies you would want to work for, what role you will want to work at and what skills you have that will make you add immediate value to the company? Sorry if this isn't what you are hoping to get, but it helps to know what your personal objectives are. I have seen too many people on here who just want to "graduate with a 2:1" and "work for a company" 3 Likes |

Get moving. Don't spend all your time acquiring certificates without a sound experience. Experience does not necessarily have to be at the work place. Learning computer programming and building software applications is one way to improve your experience and make yourself more salable. You can then work as a consultant for small to medium enterprise and build your way from there. You would also be having lots of fun while doing so and it will help you to narrow your specialty. Unfortunately, I'm of the opinion that ICAN does not necessarily provide you with a hands on experience on accounting. It only means you understand the technical details involved, but of what use is that if you can't demonstrate from experience that you can actually do the job? Additionally, what advantage do you suppose you'd have if there are hundreds people in their early twenties applying for the same spot as you -- with their ICAN certificates? I'm of the opinion that you may have come to the point in your life where "what you are capable of doing" counts a lot more than "what certificates or degree you've got". and if all else fails, (and take this as an advise from a brother to brother): you may consider revising downwards your official age.---it's dishonest, it's unethical, it's unprofessional--- but, my good friend, it's the way of the world. I know i'd do it in a heartbeat, especially when i'm solely responsible for paying my bills. 1 Like |

Yes, it is evident in the theories that have been propounded over time like the theory of relativity and general relativity by Einstein that has been used to ascertain the existence of blackholes I would want to disagree with you on this...Nothing in nature actually exists as immutable mathematical truth because the world itself and the nature of things around it are "heavily obfuscated" and that is why you have randomness and chaotic order in dynamic systems...These attributes are actually responsible for the unpredictable, erratic nature of the universe and all that is in it Your initial statement that the entire universe exists in a mathematical form immediately assumes, to my mind that there exist in nature, mathematical axioms and theory and we as humans have a responsibility to find them to help us understand our world better. My argument is that Mathematics itself in many ways is forced by us on the Universe! Imagine there's some form of nuclear holocaust which wipes out the entire world leaving behind a mango tree. If a wind blows and knocks out two mangoes to the floor, mathematics will invent an axiom to explain why there are two mangoes in existence! This is in fact very frustrating for me, as if in the case that after a billion years, another wind blows and it knocks down two more mangoes, mathematics will then invent another axiom that explains why 2+2 must equal to 4. These universal truths however do exist naturally in nature. We all, only seek to harvest these truths to explain how the world works and how we can cope with it. Mathematics does a fantastic job as it allows repeated patterns to be observed, described and modeled. But it's only a part of the picture. There are several other fields that are equally capable of harnessing these universal truths to describe the way the world works. Nostradamus wrote poetry about nuclear wars and weapons thousands of years before Albert Einstein wrote on his theory on Mass-Energy Equivalence. While Nostradamus may not have been able to harvest his theory in the way Einstein did, it does prove that there exist a massive world out there that provides a great clue the Universe and its existence outside of Mathematics. |

cryptic: My Apologies for all the insults, it was completely unnecessary. Back to our arguments on the state and nature of mathematics. Classic question: Where exactly does mathematical truth exist? Can mathematical truths even exist before someone has actually imagined it in other forms besides mathematics? One may strongly opine that the best part of mathematics is only an invention by us, to explain the things we find in the real word. You start with a set of elements and then define a set of rules regarding the relationships between those set of elements. But the truth however remains that those set of rules are not necessarily out there waiting to be discovered, if it were, then it must be the case that somehow, a purely abstract notion has to have an existence even when no human being has ever conceived of it. Yes, you may be able to create models after observing a certain pattern. But those pattern themselves do not exist as immutable mathematical truths in nature. On the completeness of mathematics, I think a classic and commonly cited example in pure mathematics for the incompleteness of mathematics is Omega. Which is an irreducible, infinitely complex number - it's concepts explains that there are in fact infinitely many such possibilities. A direct and valid quote from Chaitin's work on Omega states: Over the millennia, many mathematicians have hoped that mathematics would one day produce a Theory of Everything(TOE); a finite set of axioms and rules from which every mathematical truth could be derived. But in 1931 this hope received a serious blow: Kurt Gödel published his famous Incompleteness Theorem, which states that in every mathematical theory, no matter how extensive, there will always be statements which can't be proven to be true or false. Omega is a classic mathematical concept that explains perfectly that in mathematics, there is no theory of everything. Omega itself is irreducible and algorithmically random. It cannot be compressed into smaller finite theory and it is maximally unknowable. Perhaps, another classic concept will be infinity which doesn't actually exist in any physical form. I believe that mathematics must only proceed in the form of an experimental science like physics. It is an activity we can only engage in, in order to cope with our world. It is not by itself everything called LIFE!!! The structures and processes of the physical world are not necessarily the same as their mathematical formulations. The map is not the territory. Other activities such as music, art, literature etc also contain valid descriptions of the world. What sets mathematics apart, perhaps, is its predictive power, which is why it so revered as a model for reality. But once again, any model, however powerful, can only reflect an aspect of the universe, not the full picture, which, in all likelihood, can never be known in its entirety. What we must hold is that Mathematics cannot be complete, cannot be closed in a final theory, that all theories, not only strictly mathematical ones, must have a limited power of prediction given by the quantity of information contained in their sets of axioms and rules of inference. |

You watched the video of the boy with an incredible brain, did you or did you not see the clip of a young boy who explains his own world perfectly using hand drawn arts? was he stupid for not using mathematics or was Daniel smarter cos he could see the world in figures? Philosophy The study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence on the other hand, Mathematics deal with The abstract science of number, quantity, and space. It is surprising that you ask questions like how can mathematics explain hunger, emotions when you know the human system has been designed to be dynamic. Motion & Dynamism is mathematical dude. Mathematical Models have been used to explain very complex systems..Heard of Daniel Tammet? The boy with the incredible brain? Well, I will tell you about him...He is an autistic savant that is able to tell you numbers their colours and their nature...He intuitively solves advanced mathematical problems because he says he looks at the numbers and sees the results based on their colours, texture and feel...He does this effortlessly. He gave the value of pi(the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter) to 20,000 significant figures(He exceeded the limits of the calculator on the computer) He learnt Lithuanian in seven days(Lithuanian is one of the most complicated languages on the planet). Heard of the Mathematical model of the universe? Heard of mathematical Biology? Biophysics? mathematical analysis and computer modeling of Biological systems? Galileo Galilei (1564–1642) once said, 'The universe cannot be read until we have learned the language and become familiar with the characters in which it is written. It is written in mathematical language, and the letters are triangles, circles and other geometrical figures, without which means it is humanly impossible to comprehend a single word. Without these, one is wandering about in a dark labyrinth. Dude, I can't shout...U cannot understand me because we do not function at the same mental capacity. You are obviously reading books without applying them to your everyday life...You can't understand because you just can't understand. WTF What sense is there to be made out of this Junk you typed? ...I talked about hunger, he talked about motion and dynamism ...i mentioned that mathematics derived its roots from philosophy , he went on to define Philosophy and mathematics. ...I mentioned that there's a lot more to life than can be explained by mathematics and this retarded fellow gave me an unsolicited frame by frame details of a 50 minutes video on Daniel Tammet. How the hell does that add any value to your miserable points? I knew the moment you started foaming through the mouth about your intellectual capacity, that there's something indisputably stupid about you. For starters, real smart people don't say how smart they are, only idiots do. You can only prove how smart you truly are through the quality of your output and given that you can't even learn to use paragraphs in your text, it must be the case that your IQ is lower than the average student's bank account balance. You are a microbiologist and you honestly believe "in your mind" that all the Maths you learnt at O'levels count as "loving maths"? When was the last time you tested the limits of a mathematical assumption? When was the last time you solved heavy problems without calculators just for the fun of it? when was the last time you arrived at an unconventional solution to conventional problems using mathematical principles? Here's my honest piece of advice to you: Shut the fuck up and stop tongue wagering when issues way bigger than your IQ is being discussed....you don't love maths you moron, the fact that you were fortunate enough to have passed maths at a very basic level does not necessarily count as "Loving maths". I wouldn't even for a second, look at someone's Resume, who appeared to have been everywhere and knows everything. It reeks of desperation, and lack of objective. It immediately tells me this is a sort of person whose life goal is to graduate from school and work with "a company"! |

Try NIOGG (Nigerian Institute of Goalless Graduates) Do you not have any objectives set for yourself, that you depend on people to tell you what you must do with your own life? Nothing is more indicative of a life without goals than someone who comes on internet asking for a good professional course to take. Do you intend to just become anything? 3 Likes |

RixExpat: Ethics is what an individual makes of it. If regulators are finding it difficult to combat unethical practices, i doubt if reading a few books from the CFA will change a thing. I know a few strong Bible students who have read time and over again verses which says fornication and lust is a sin, perhaps even punishable with eternity in hell. If the threat of hell fire cannot change people from fulfilling their hard wired desires, i doubt if the threat of losing membership of a designation will change much. Humans are not designed to live by rules, not especially when your dream house in Santa Monica and your 1 million dollars Bonus is tied to fiddling with the rules for a bit!...Barclays probably have a few hundred of CFA holders already, i haven't seen many of them leaving their Jobs in protest of their Bank's shameful behavior, why you ask? They've got a Family to feed duh! Moral of the story: You can't force ethics on an individual. Ethics is one those things you either have or you don't! NB. I'm now unwilling to go further with the CFA debate. Meanwhile, i think it's been a very thoughtful debate. |

werepeLeri: OP - how do you explain the fact that the same picture you said you took while driving today, has been on twitter since the 29th of June? The OP is likely a lying bastard! |

defbond1: No sir. It wasn't driven. English isn't hard and you couldn't write a meaningful statement properly? Where did you go to school if i may ask? Your statement reads: No insurance company has been able to insure that car in the UK. Did your teachers teach you or not, that once a period is applied after a statement, that must be the end of that statement? As a matter of fact, whether the car is driven or showcased is immaterial, the point is can a Veyron be insured in the UK?...fuck yes! That asides, most cars in Motor shows are likely to be fenced within a barrier anyways, and it still remains patently untrue that anyone will be stupid enough to showcase a Veyron without an insurance. In the very least, the company will likely have a comprehensive insurance that covers those cars anywhere. It becomes really gutting whenever people try to pass off false information online and then once they are proven to be lying sods, they start twisting things.
