Interesting debate. I think everyone has a point but @Kobojunkie, get rid of the condescending tone in your argument because for someone who is attacking people for their lack of English language skills, your grammar is not so impressive. Cue - "Wasting both our times..." 1 Like |

Without stopping a war in Mali and Guinea Bissau, where do you think those Russian AK47, MPMG, SMG and IEs will end up ? LeoMax: My dear, Nigeria is bound by ECOWAS treaty which she is a member state. Stop making statements like that. Without stopping a war in Mali and Guinea Bissau, where do you think those Russian AK47, MPMG, SMG and IEs will end up ? My darling, there is something called opinion. Ever heard of it? Ecowas treaty or not, I do not think we have the capacity to keep interfering with the politics or affairs of other African nations. We need to re-evaluate our foreign policy. Nigerians first before anything else. Playing West African police does very little for millions of Nigerians living in fear of terrorist attacks. The AK47s, MPMGs, SMGs and IEs have somehow managed to find their way past our porous borders even before Guinea Bissau and Mali. Besides, we have sacrificed enough. From Sierra Leone to Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liberia and everywhere on the continent, we have flexed our diplomatic and military muscle. We simply do not have it anymore. Big brother is being beaten senseless in his own home, time to drag his tired bottom back home to fix things. And oh, by the way, I am a patriot. |

Nigeria and misplaced priorities. We need to put our house in order first before running around to fix the problems of other countries. We are taking this big brother thing too seriously. 1 Like |

shymmex: @virgo @Shymmex, if you had read my post properly, you would have deduced that my response on the Mandela issue was not for you, I was merely seconding @Buzugee's opinion about Mandela's fighting history. On another hand, describing Steven Biko as "brave" among other things will be to suggest that Mandela was not. I hope Buzugee's submission and mine disabuses your mind of that notion. Steven Biko deserves his place in history and so does Mandela. Giving up your life for 27 years can be rightly described as a sacrifice. So you kind sir are wrong to classify Mandela as overrated. Thank you and have a good day. |

buzugee: WEB Du bois was an elitist and a sellout and a member of the boule ( black illuminati that works for white society ). he was only concerned about the top 10 percent of black society. he was one of the people who thwarted the efforts of marcus garvey in repatriating black people to africa. dont get me wrong he put in work, but his work was more towards trying to prove to white people that black people are intelligent and should be accepted and as such he only kowtowed to the elites of black society while marcus garvey kowtowed to the poor and the working class. MLK too was a boule and in bed with the white jews. the main purpose of desegregation was so that the jews can harness the buying power of black people. prior to this black people could only buy from black stores and this strengthened the black communities and formed cohesiveness in the black community. however after desegregation, white businesses quickly moved in and the black communities regressed into poverty and drugs. so mlk was a boule ( black illuminati put in place by white society ) for the white establishment. I have never read any work by W.E.B Du Bois but I read about his "talented tenth" theory and most of what he stood for. Thank you for letting them know about Madiba. All we see is the frail old man revered world over for reconciling South Africans of all colours when history shows us how he employed guerilla warfare in his struggle against the Boers. Umkhonto We Sizwe anyone? Think the militant wing of ANC. Mandela was no softie. I am amazed anyone thinks he is. Thanks for saying it as it is. |

Literature / Re: Do Contemporary African Writers Actually Sell Books? by virgo(f): 7:15pm On Jan 03, 2012 |
@Poster, sure you have read it all? To the best of my knowledge, contemporary Nigerian writers out there write very good books. My book "Twilight at Terracotta Indigo" is a fast paced suspense novel that picked up the 2011 ANA/NDDC Flora Nwankpa prize for literature and can be found in shops like Hub Media Store Lekki Lagos and Naijasistas Bookstore V.I. In Abuja, you can find the book at Pen and Pages Book store Wuse 2, Silverbird Lifestyle Media Store Central Area and The booksellers Area 11. Jude Dibia is an author you should look out for too. He is a close friend and my biggest critic. He writes thought provoking literature. His three books "Walking with Shadows", "Unbridled" and "Blackbird" are beautiful works of prose. Don't write Nigerian literature off. You might just be surprised by what is out there. All the best! |

Kobojunkie: Kobojunkie, like I said, you asked a rhetorical question and went ahead to cement your stand with second comment. I don't believe in meaningless verbal sparring where insults are thrown in to prove intellectual superiority. Oh btw, using "us" in arguments in a bid to draw supporters is rather lame, don't you think? |

Kobojunkie: You asked a question and answered it. I see no reason in engaging you in a senseless verbal merry go round. I stand by my views that religious brainwashing is the root of Africa's problems, so seek someone else to direct your "direct questions" to. |

frosbel: You want the real world? Well buddy, in the real world, people are entitled to their opinions. No one is attacking you for believing in everything the white man says or does. I hold on to the view that Africans have been hoodwinked for too long in the name of religion, whether Christianity or Islam. You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to figure things out. And for your info, no one hates the white man, but not everyone feels inclined to kiss the white man's pale behind. Thank you for letting me vent. |

chima12: Dahhling, what part of my post don't you understand? Calm your sweet self down. Truth is, none of these countries or religions have the interest of the black man at heart. Study history and you will see. It is sad that we have allowed ourselves to be divided by these neo-colonialists and their religions. Boko Haram is a problem that has gone beyond the power hungry politicians (who btw should be exposed by your president) that created them and me thinks we should be on guard against all forms of interference whether by Al-Qaeda, Mossad or CIA. No one really likes the black man. So breathe easy and look at the facts before you. |

Kobojunkie: It beats me how blacks can't see beyond their noses that Jews/Arabs/Europeans see them as nothing more than "hewers of water" and "fetchers of wood". They just bank on the black man's highly superstitious nature to keep him down under. What exactly should be exciting about Israel/Saudi or America sending you aid or taking sides with you in a situation they may likely have a hand in? |
Politics / Re: Israel condemns Nigeria terror, sending Medical aid by virgo(f): 7:37pm On Dec 26, 2011 |
Read someone's post where it was stated that Abraham was Muslim before God called him. Really? . Peeps calm down and turn your books straight up. Stop reading history upside down. And as for nations in the West and M. E meddling in Africa's affairs, there can't be anything good coming from either Jews, Arabs or Europeans. Starting from Judiasm to Christianity to Islam, none of those religions respect the black man. I can't help suspecting these "outside forces". I wish we had leaders with functioning brains. From pastors, to imams to politicians, Nigerians has been cursed with very bad leadership. It is clear that "humble Joe" might have thrown in the towel and is patiently waiting for 2015. The ordinary citizens of Nigeria had better take their own destinies into their hands because once the vultures swoop, |

Religion / Re: Was Abraham An Arab Or A Jew? by virgo(f): 3:34pm On Sep 17, 2011 |
babakb: Sure, sure. Anything that rocks your boat sweetheart. All you religious folks just take it easy sha! And oh, by the way, Abraham was neither, Muslim, Christian or Jew. Opening other books apart from "holy books" will broaden your minds and help you be tolerant of each other. Religions have existed before Judaism, Christianity or Islam, and all make the same claim to be the only way to the one true G-d. You guys can shout from now till kingdom come about your religions being the best, it doesn't change the fact that all religions came to being by man's search for the meaning of life and is largely influenced by the lifestyles, belief systems and cultural practices of the societies they originated from. But then again, whatever rocks your boat. Just so long as it does not encroach on my space, we are good! |

Religion / Re: Was Abraham An Arab Or A Jew? by virgo(f): 2:50pm On Sep 17, 2011 |
frosbel: Bolded 1- As the Arabs did and still do, so the Europeans did and still do! Bolded 2 - What? Darling, allow me to inform you that during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, a good number of slaves were thrown overboard slave ships, killed during mutinies, violated, died willfully, et all, before reaching their destination. SMH Bolded 3 - Well, you self hating black man, "Missionaries" paved way for colonialism that divided Africans. As for your use of the word "heathen", shame on you! And why not include Catholics? Didn't Catholic Missionaries educate African "heathens?" Bolded 4 - Yeah, like the tea party continually asks America's first ever black president to prove that he is not some Kenyan born Niqqa. Like Rodney King's brutal beating, and the castration of innocent black men that were castrated by envious less endowed white men because some sexually frustrated stick thin white woman could not get hold of his dark meat. Some integration! Bolded 5 - Chile please. While Willy Lynch might want to kiss you for your dumb portrayal of the black race in general, Me, I want to slap the blood out of your mouth. You are narrow minded, assuming, and shamelessly ignorant. And oh, ,trust me, there are those who have read more than you ever could without necessarily submitting to unvalidated articles on the internet. |

frosbel: Mr. Ignoramus, in your pea sized brain, the "MISSIONARIES" by taking advantage of our "stone age" lifestyle can be absolved of the atrocities they committed especially when they brought religions of "peace" and "mercy?" WHAT A TOOL AND A TYPICAL HYBRID! |
Religion / Re: Was Abraham An Arab Or A Jew? by virgo(f): 1:51pm On Sep 17, 2011 |
Jayjey: Give me a break sweetheart. You are asking Naira land religious fanatics to be more broad minded in a religious discussion, and in a very contentious issue. Indeed! I have seen a lot of drivel on Naira land and my conclusion is, what a man accepts to be true, no force of reason can prevail against. I blame all the propaganda that adherents of most religions engage in for this confusion. Black men open your damn eyes, , eish! And for the record my Persian friend will slap any tool who will ever refer to him as Arab. The Persians (Iran) have never and will never be Arabs. Before Islam, the people were Zoroastrians, and have their own identity. If Abraham was from that area, he was neither Jew nor Arab. I have come across a book that even suggests that Abraham's worship of G-d was influenced by Egypt's religious practices, (he was supposedly a regular visitor there after all). Anyway, that is not my business. My business is to live and let live. As long as your way of life does not impede on my well being and happiness, all is well. |
