Politics / Re: Olisa Agbakoba: As A Biafran Soldier, I Can Tell You That Biafra Is Not Viable by Vivere: 2:56pm On Jun 01, 2018
kjhova:
My brother, he has answered you well enough. A proper Igbo only Biafra will be landlocked and likely surrounded by hostile neighbours. Yes, the Imo river pours out to sea. However it passes through Niger Delta (which will be a foreign country under this assumption) who may then impose bans or tariffs on cargo destined for Biafra. Also, the river isn't navigable across its entire length and if the Niger Delta refuse to dredge their end, building an up-river port in Biafra is dead on arrival.

You suggested Airport delivery. There is a reason why 90% of global freight is by sea. Airfreight is freaking costlier than sea! Also, not all cargo can be airlifted. Suppose, Biafra needs to import crude or petroleum products, what quantity can you easily fly into Biafra? More so, airfreight require specialized airports which will be costly to build. Also, hope you know that Biafra's neighbours can close their airspace to Biafran bound planes at the threat of shooting down violators.

Overall, Biafra being a landlocked country will increase its costs of doing business and its dependency on her neighbours. Her credit rating will be lowered due to this vulnerability and cost of funds will be high.

The chances of Biafra becoming an economic success is thus lowered and hinged on the whims of her neighbours.

Beautiful analysis! Well done, bro.'

My dear they should honest with us. You do not just get twins or triplets after a long TTC without assisted reproductive service. Even Sarah in the Bible did not get twins or triplets!

The fact they could afford to go to the US means they can afford assisted reproduction in Nigeria too.

Abeg everything must not get a religious colouration.

Telling people the truth will allow TTC couples in their church or who know them to use similar help. My pastor friend and his wife were very honest about theirs. They could have claimed miracle but they didn't.

Congrats to them.

What do you mean by assisted reproductive service? Are you talking about IVF? Do you know that you still need the hand of God or divine intervention for IVF to work? Are you aware that many people get failed IVF cycles?

tobbaco is highly adidctive and more dangerous than ganja, tobbaco and Alcohol have killed more people than ganja.

ask your Doctor he will tell you the same. yes! you can halucinate if you smoke ganja mixed with other harmful substsnces. if you smoke the real ganja, you will be fine!
trust me i know! grin

Let me guess....you did a survey on the after-effects of cannabis and tobacco on smokers within a specified population size, before you came to this conclusion?

linearity:
Marijuana does not make anyone high and does not cause hallucination, in any way that tobacco or alcohol does not and marijuana is safer.

All three substances are addictive and when abused cause some level of altered reality and perception and of all three, only marijuana is medicinal. As second hand smoke; I will prefer to inhale marijuana’s THC which is medicinal than tobacco tar, which is cancerous any day any time.

You don’t have to be a smoker to know that, knowledge is power, hit some google pages. Cigarette and alcohol are more dangerous and will kill you faster.

Plus, marijuana is a natural growing plant, no processing done, unlike the others. It was created by God and in the garden of Eden, it must have been there, because God created everything and yet, there was no commandment to Adam not to part take despite such command regarding the fruit of wisdom...and I can bet you that cigarette or tobacco or alcohol was no where in that Garden, because all these are man made.

FYI:
I don’t smoke, but I make a point to get enough knowledge about topics I don’t know, especially concerning those where my personal experience is lacking.
Are you afraid I will think you have sniffed some cannabis in secret? cheesy Was that why you added the disclaimer? wink

Anyway, I saw a few of my classmates getting high on marijuana in the university, so I have seen how quickly it can cause people to experience altered states of reality, faster than tobacco even does. The nicotine in tobacco causes addiction, yes. But from my observation, marijuana gets people more high, than tobacco can ever do. sad

To benefit from the THC and CBD (i.e. cannabidiol) in marijuana, the plant has to be processed into oils and supplements, in order to extract the THC or CBD. Smoking or sniffing marijuana will not deposit the THC or CBD in a usable form, in the smoker. undecided While THC is psychoactive, CBD is not.

The tailor brought the bad exposure, upon herself. What nonsense is all this? shocked How can she be giving a dress which was paid for by another client, to someone else to wear? Now, 2 people have worn the dress apart from the real owner! How disrespectful! It is all shades of wrong!! angry She is lucky that the bride in question is not related to me. Anyway, on another note...

The main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis - tetrahydrocannabinol - could be used to reduce tumor growth in cancer patients, according to an international research team.

Previous studies have suggested that cannabinoids, of which tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is one, have anti-cancer properties. In 2009, researchers at Complutense University in Spain found that THC induced the death of brain cancer cells in a process known as "autophagy." The researchers found that administering THC to mice with human tumors initiated autophagy and caused the growth of the tumors to decrease.

The team behind the new study - co-led by Complutense University and the University of Anglia (UEA) in the UK - claims to have discovered previously unknown "signaling platforms" that allow THC to shrink tumors.

The researchers induced tumors in mice using samples of human breast cancer cells. When the tumors were targeted with doses of THC, the researchers found that two cell receptors were particularly associated with an anti-tumor response.

"THC, the major active component of marijuana, has anti-cancer properties. This compound is known to act through a specific family of cell receptors called cannabinoid receptors," says Dr. Peter McCormick, from UEA's School of Pharmacy. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/279571.php

We the akoko edo people especially from ojah have a different language entirely differnt from the benin or the yoruba. We even borrowed more words from the yorubas than from other edo tribes. Hence,we are very capable of speaking yoruba fluently

Deadlytruth:
Enough has already been said in the previous comments about Akoko-Edos not being Yorubas by any means. Akoko-Edo people are themselves an assortment of tribes who speak a total of 17 different languages, none of which shares any affinity with Yoruba, hence could not have migrated from Ondo or anywhere else in Yoruba land as you would have people believe.
The name "Akoko-Edo" is purely geographical and means "The Edo people who share boundary with and are physical neighbours to Akokos of Ondo State". It does not connote any linguistic or ancestral affinity with the Akokos any more than the name "Nigeria" could suggest that Southern Nigerians are related to the people of Niger Republic.

PhysicsQED:
......However, the overwhelming majority of those groups in Akoko Edo are speakers of "Edoid" languages - as in, their native languages have significant similarities with the Edo language. The exceptions as far as I can tell being the people of Ayanran, Kakumo, and Igarra. The Igarra don't claim to come from Ondo though they too use Yoruba as a lingua franca, and as for the non-Edoid language speaking towns of Ayanran and Kakumo, those are just two out of all the rest (state boundaries don't exactly mirror linguistic groups - there are also "Edoid" groups outside of Edo and Delta states). Virtually all the rest are speakers of "Edoid" languages natively and if there are groups claiming to be from Ondo (rather than from other places in Edo state, as is usual for people in that area), or claiming to be "mixed" you can list the specific group you're referring to, rather than lumping in the entire area as being "mixed" because of the lingua franca used there. Few (if any) groups in southern Nigeria have never had any segment of their population mix with their neighbors, but that doesn't change what the real ethnic classification of their overall group is.

Confusing...!

You keep referring to "Akoko people" in this thread.

You do realize the Akoko-Edo (I assume that's the place that you meant to refer to) peoples are quite distinct from the Akoko in Ondo state, right? I'm referring to the Okpamheri, Ososo, Oloma, Uneme, etc. of Akoko-Edo. They're all different groups from one another, and they're different from the Akoko Yoruba in Ondo state.

They (the people in the Akoko-Edo area of Edo state) have their own languages, and they don't claim to be Yoruba or claim to be "the same people" with Yoruba. If you think that they think they're Yoruba or "the same with Yoruba", can you at least tell me why you think this?

Car Talk / Re: Automatic Gearbox Problems by Vivere: 8:49pm On Jan 01, 2018
cardoctor:
Automatic gearbox issues have become a reoccuring decimal to any automatic car owner. Slow take off, sluggish acceleration, lack of kick down, loss of drive while in motion, lack of gear change, aggressive gear changes, high engine revs without power in drive just to name a few.

From my observation and the complaints made by some of our customers, these problems usually start from a gearbox oil change that was recommended by the mechanic who then uses the wrong type of ATF oil for the transmission.

Most car manufacturers develop their own ATF formular for their cars.

Honda recommends their own formular ATF-z1 for their gearboxes manufactured between 1998 to 2009 and upgraded to the ATF-Dw1 for gearboxes manufactured from 2010 upwards.

Toyota uses the Type 4 ATF for their cars manufactured between1996 to 2007 and the Toyota WS ATF for ones manufactured between 2007 to present.

Most other car manufactures have also upgraded the type of ATF for their modern cars.

Using the wrong grade of ATF would almost certainly result in a failing transmission. Low grade ATF may not be able to handle the high temperature operations operations of a gearbox. Under very high temperatures, low grade oil loses its fluidity and may begin to boil causing loss of hydraulic functions by frothing or foaming.

Some remedies I have seen used by local mechanics is to further add engine oil to the gearbox in order to thicken the viscosity of the ATF. This in turn puts the pump under great stress as the thicker oil would require more effort from the pump in distributing the oil under high pressure as well as the oil filter which is usually embedded within the transmission gear train. (The removal and changing of all Honda transmission oil filter would require the removal of the gear box from the car and stripping down the gearbox)

The resulting consequence would be an imminent and extreme overheating of the transmission and components such as the friction plates and a rapid degradation of the wet clutch fibres hence the loss of drive, slipping clutch and rough gear changes.

Replacing the gearbox or a total overhaul by an expert would be the likely solution but before then, an inexperienced mechanic would Send you on a wild goose chase by suggesting the removal and servicing or outright replacement of shift solenoids on the outer casing of the gearbox. These solutions Don't last as its just a temporal remedy to a terminal issue.

We constantly repair these gearboxes and those of other makes to a very high standard with 99.9% success rate and we recommend that if you are having serious issues with your automatic gearbox, ensure that the appropriate procedures are followed.

Politics / Re: Ten Modular Refineries Reach Advanced Stage – Presidency by Vivere: 8:07pm On Jan 01, 2018

Please calculate the cost of transporting crude oil to ten small refineries compared to one big one. Calculate the the cost of evacuating products from ten small refineries compared with big one. Only barges will work and ...lo lo lo lo lo . It is three times more expensive to produce from small refineries.

The FG is calculating that costs are not important and they will subsidize prices of diesel and petrol which is all the fucking scraps will produce ..so they already know it is not a business or economic venture .

They are doing it to keep young Nigerian Deltans happy not be cause it is a sensible idea.
My problem is that it is admittance of low quality people when you have to tell LIES to them to buy peace.

There are better ways to stop fake artisanal refineries. Let jobs come to the youths from Gas utilization projects, environmental clean up projects even mini petrochemical projects.

They are better for the environment and are more sustainable.

Every body in Nigeria is just stuck on this liquid fuel, Jerry cans business. Fuel scarcity, fuel scarcity...running around like headless chickens over an energy source that is no more reigning.

The most fake and stupidly follow follow country in the world and most young people don't even ask fundamental questions but imbibe the mistakes their crooked and corrupt parents made.
Guy, yes there would be costs incurred in transporting crude to different refineries depending on the location. sad But crude can also be transported to such refineries through pipelines. Similar to how Kaduna refinery get its feedstock of crude, since it is not located near the coast?

Marginal oil fields also dot the Niger-Delta. If the resources and output of these fields are properly harnessed, they can be used by some of these proposed refineries.

I dislike artisanal refineries or the kind of 'illegal refining' currently going on in the Niger-Delta, by those who steal crude from existing pipelines in order to distill diesel from such crude oil, by heating the stuff over na'ked flames. It is not only illegal, primitive and hazardous, it also produces off-spec diesel, that can knock engines and destroy machinery. angry

Anyway, I do believe that even if costs of production for a standard small to mid-size modular refinery is high, as long as enough products are derived from their crude processing operations to cover production costs, and turn a tidy profit after all expenses are covered, it is an avenue that can be explored.

It is said that a technically sound modular refinery, should have Hydro-Desulphurisation Units (HDS), Catalytic Reformer Units (CRU), Hydrocracker Units (HCU), Desalters etc. Niger-Delta Exploration and Production Co., has shown that a small refinery can be sustainable and profitable, with its experiment at Ogbele in Delta State, which has been running for 7 years. undecided

However, I do agree with you on one score: the benefits that can accrue to youths in the Niger-Delta communities from establishing "huge gas utilization projects, environmental clean-up projects, and even mini petrochemical projects," is quite enormous and could literally change their fortunes around. But the youths and elders of the Niger-Delta are too focused on their pockets and short-term monetary gains, to actually provide the kind of conducive environment within their communities, which could facilitate the development of such projects. I pray their mindset changes as fast as possible. sad

To all those arguing against the private plane ownership by pastors of churches, did any of you contribute money towards the purchase of such planes? To those saying the church should take care of the poor, are you aware of the tons of programmes that different churches have put in place for the poor in their midst, and within their communities?

Ask all those arguing about how the Church should take care of the poor, whether they themselves have ever done anything tangible or sustainable to help the poor in their family or within their communities, on a regular basis? For those who have helped the poor, just how much exactly on a monthly or yearly basis, have they given to the poor?

Some throw 20 naira or 50 naira notes out of their vehicles to beggars on the streets, and feel they have helped the poor, only to go online to pontificate about how the church is doing nothing to help the poor, in a bid to stroke their ego. Yet, I have witnessed churches offering valuable scholarships to poor, needy students to enable them attend school, and even gathering money to pay off medical bills for indigent members. undecided

I am not asking anyone to agree or disagree with me. sad Everyone is free to hold his own views, but please leave those who want to continue paying their tithes to the church to do so. It is their money, not yours.' And also, no one should query those who do not want to pay tithes. It is their own life, not yours.'

For those who do NOT want to contribute to the acquisition of private jets by the church, there is no problem. But they have no business shouting down or condemning those who wish to do so. Did they ask you for a loan, before making their contributions to the church purse? And those who want to contribute to the purchase and maintenance of such private jets, let them do so freely. It is between you and your God and it also depends on your conviction. sad

Now, I have said my piece. No name calling please! Hate filled rhetoric from mud slingers and depraved minds would not be dignified with a response! undecided

OP you are a bloody lair...you said "He was in Zambia, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania and Botswana (if my memory serves me right) in a spate of five days and was back to minister at the night session in Nigeria." Bro, Oyedepo rarely travel out of this country except when he is to dedicate or commission a new mega tabernacle how much more traveling to 5 different countries in a week. Did he go there to sneeze? This your lies didn't add up at all. Infact the last time he visited Tanzania was years ago.

These mental slaves can go extra mile to showcase their slavery.

Do you know Oyedepo's itinerary or are you his private secretary? He was in Botswana in October/November, to hold crusades as well as some other African nations. Go and check, please!!

Hello lady, I don't seem to like this act of yours. Please don't use what happened to you to blindfold the good ladies .There is a way a lady will support a struggling guy that he won't forget her when he finally "hammer".If you are just there with him but you constantly remind him by your actions or words that he is broke, he is going to forget you when the money finally comes. There is no way , a guy will forget a good lady that has been standing with him. So forget about what you are trying to portray here

What do you mean by "There is no way , a guy will forget a good lady that has been standing with him." sad Are you inside his mind? shocked Speak for yourself alone please, and stop trying to defend another person's actions, when you are not privy to their thoughts. Is it not this same Naija, where it has been reported that relatives kidnap family members for ransom money, or where some people forget their parents once they hit it big etc.? Money makes people behave in different ways. Just thank God for the good upbringing that your own parents gave to you, which is making you see others in a positive light and attribute good intentions to them.

I agree with you that she shouldn't use her bitter experience to discourage other ladies from enduring with their boyfriends/fiancee/husbands. But a man who will be ungrateful will be, whether the supportive woman has a fault or not. You can't use your character, who you are to assume that other men are like that too.
Abi, o! shocked Your analysis is spot on! Nothing more to add....

Quite an interesting read. I don't think your ex (if I may call him so) changed after he won the money. I believe he has always been a cheat and an ungrateful lad. You just haven't caught him yet in the act until he felt he no longer needed you.

I have been involved with very good ladies and I also have had my fair share of ladies who were rather ungrateful but something I learnt quite early is never to regret any good deed I do to someone, especially when it was done out of love.

Yeah, I quite agree with you that it is very risky but I hold fast to the believe that no good deed goes unrewarded. It is always good for a gal or guy to stand by her man or him by his lady, no matter the risk.

This is deep! undecided

Whew! Na today? I think the matrix is really simple to understand. If you must date a broke guy, date the one with potential, class and good exposure. It is important he considers you a partner with these attributes as well. This is because when anyone(male/female) moves up a ladder, it is only natural for him/her to acquire things/friends/companies within the new status. Hence the reason it is important to pitch one's tent with a guy with an innate class, not the one that buys class with money.

I can imagine the tasteless dude's desire to be seen as arrived when in fact he was still in transit. Count your luck biko ...a lot of husbands do that to their wives these days.

Gbam!! Triple gbosas for you! You nailed it! cool

You are right!

The ultimate question is to know those that are worth the risk and those that ain't. Same applies to the female folks too.

Very true! That is a good point, you made.... undecided

My dear you should go for thanksgiving, Sara or give sacrifice; depending on your religious belief. Your head has saved you. Thank God for your life. God used this situation as a teaser for you to know who this guy really is. He is a low life and a loser. He will forever remain poor and it’s not a curse. You can see how he thinks and how he manages money. Now that he has tasted the good life he may enter something criminal to maintain it. It’s better you stay far from him so you don’t become a victim of money ritual.

If you marry this type, you will never get out of poverty because he will use your money for useless things that he cannot account for.
For the sake of your future generations just run away. If he contacts you again, send him curses and tell him thunder will fire him if he does not delete your number. Nonsense.

I was practically rolling on the floor with laughter, when I read this bit! Not only were you quite right, but you also used style to finish the guy. No chill! cheesy
