tunjilana:
Let's clear this up. If want you mean by standing by him is making sacrifices for him, helping him massively to succeed then you have a point but if you feel you deserve a medal for simply him cos he is broke and possibly still adding no value to him aside sleeping with him and still collecting out of the little he has then you are not serious, something you could be doing to five guys at same time and waiting for them to blow and lay claims. show us proofs of the sacrifices you made and the inconvenient commitments you made in a bid to help him succeed. sleeping with a man isn't standing by him.

You are another person who obviously did not read the entire story thoroughly, before hitting the reply button. sad She stood by him when he was broke, supported him financially, made sacrifices for the relationship to thrive and even gave him business ideas when she was with him. The minute he hit some dough, he dropped her like a hot potato. Only to come crawling back to her, after the money ran out. So why are you now saying she feels she "deserve a medal for simply him cos he is broke and possibly still adding no value to him aside sleeping with him and still collecting out of the little he has...?" shocked Receive sense, please!

Ur boyfriend did not call and u refused to call him too.

Now that action of urs was the cause the problem. You are his lady, his counsellor and his friend too . You were suppose to take care of him and call him when u heard of his wasteful spendings.

If u seriously made business plans with that man, you would have followed up to the later. Your cautioning him would have prevented the later sequences of his irresponsibilities. He had a girl cos u were not there for him when he needed u most.

I wud have told u to leave him immediately if u told me u called and cautioned him and he didn't heed to ur advice. But u dumped him at the most sensitive time.

YOU LEFT HIM WHEN HE NEEDED YOU MOST! Guys don't only need ladies only when they are suffering, we also need u to curtail our spendings. I thought I knew how to cut down expenses until I met my wife. Oh! She cut down my expenses further and more reasonable. Now I've got more savings on my expenses than ever in my life and I'm not living below standard.

So he needed you, and you left him. That's not cool. He is coming back now like a prodigal son to a mother which u were supposed to be to him!

Your sin partner is one million times better than you.
Did you even read the whole story properly from beginning to end, before hitting your keyboard to rant? Where did she castigate all men? The point she was making, is that standing by a man when he has nothing, does not guarantee that he would be loyal to you, when he has something. She only used her own experience to buttress that point. Now, where exactly did she state in black and white, that 'all men are bad, or where did she rubbish all men?' And where on earth did she state that she was not 'willing to support him, abi.' udumosam23:
I believe people are playing politics with power (NEPA). For instance, I've lived in Calabar, i know the light situation, but during this carnival period it's constant. How did it happen? If it can be like this this period, it can always be.

In Ebonyi, there is regular light at the headquarters and other smaller communities.
But in Afikpo a town next to Abakaliki in size and population no light.

The worst case is that when it is month end, they'll bring the light like twice, go round with ladder forcing people to pay bills. After that moment, the light is gone for another month end.

In my street particularly, we've contributed money about 3 times to fix transformer. I was beginning to think they're doing it on purpose to extort money from us. Even when a pole fell, it wasn't raised until we contributed money for NEPA to raise it. Yet we pay outragious bills.

Tell me if this is not Corruption.

At a time the community got angry and decided not to pay, until light situation improves. But the situation got worse and they were forced to pay all accrued debt before they're connected to grill again. It was Maria who helped out.

Now we haven't seen light for like 2 months, they're here again with bills. Tell me if this is not witchcraf

Calabar is in Cross-River state, next door to Akwa Ibom State, where the Ibom power plant in Ikot Abasi is located. It generates an average of 105 Megawatts daily, which is added to Nigeria's total power generation. The plant is powered by natural gas from the 200 MMcfpd Uquo Gas Processing Facility, owned by Seven Energy's subsidiary Accugas. Could this be responsible for the constant power being enjoyed by Calabar??

There are no set times anymore, the trains and tracks are always breaking down hence they operate when there's availability now...you might even have to change

Their website is redundant!

This is one reason why I often get frustrated with Nigerian officials. angry All the trains should be running at full speed right now, to cushion the effects of the fuel scarcity, and also to maximise the trips to be made during this yuletide season. Is it that officials of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) did not realise that every December, normally throws up a large number of travellers?

For goodness sake, what does it take to update a website regularly? shocked Why hasn't this been done, before now? Later, they will start making noise up and down and start claiming they are fully compliant with Servicom.

The worst set are the intra-city rail trips. Why can't there be an app or a mobile customer service line, which prospective passengers can dial, to get current and real time info., on trips, departure times and arrival times? If I live in Epe in Lagos for instance, there is no way I can get info on timings for train services to Agege for example, unless I take a 2-hour journey to physically get to Iddo terminus from Epe. Why??

These channels can be set up and managed by private SME companies, for a small fee. A USSD code can also be deployed, to allow prospective passengers get an update on the status of trains nationwide, by charging subscribers a minimal rate. And it is not rocket science. Despite the govt's cashless policy, there are still no POS terminals at any of their ticketing counters in Lagos. So if you want to use your debit card to pay for your ticket in their terminus, it would not be possible to do so! shocked

May God deliver us from mediocre public servants, in this country! angry

Beemhan:
All I see on this this thread are religious fanatics and half-witted misogynists. So if a guy proposes to a lady and she says "no", it MUST be her fault... She must be a hoe... after chopping his money, the least she can do is agree to marry him..? Really, guys?? Are you listening to yourselves

After a guy 'spends money' on a lady, the lady MUST marry him? What sorta financial transaction is that and which body or commission regulates it? The Nigerian Association of Misogynists, and Emotionally Immature Dimwits? (NAMEID)

FYI, to the religious fanatics, not all relationships must lead to marriage. Some of them are meant to teach us and make us better partners in our future relationship (s)

Secondly, marriage should only be a subject of discussion for couples who have an almost telepathic understanding of themselves. A man that doesn't understand a woman well enough to even know whether or not she'll accept his proposal, has no business buying a ring.

Thirdly, there's a zillion valid reasons why a lady may decline a marriage proposal. She may not be READY to get married, She may not see him as husband material. Etc. A lot of you penis-wielding jugheads are dating ladies you don't intend marrying right now! You think that luxury is exclusive to you cuz you're a man? Una dey jons!

If a man can decide whether or not he wants to marry the lady he's dating, it's only fair and logical that the lady in question should also be able to decide whether or not she wants to marry the man without anyone calling her names. The man CANNOT make the decision for the both of them. Is an individual sontin.

"WILL YOU MARRY ME? " is nothing but a question and like questions generally, the answer could be negative or positive. The African man should be able to allow his intelligence match his ego and deal with this reality.

Now to the question proper, if a man proposes and she says "no", there are many possibilities here, depending on why she said no in the first place. Her reason (s) for declining the proposal will determine where they go from there.

Oh my word! shocked It has been such a long time that I read something so refreshing, so down-to-earth and so full of wisdom. Girl, you deserve a medal for this! cool

Smh for the guys above that said she stayed becos of money, is everything about money? why do most guys in this forum have this mentality, everything is not about money.
There would have been some signs from the lady showing that she is no more interested, e.g
withdrawal, lack of interest in anything involving him etc. so it's either he chose to ignore the signs or he believed there was no way she would say no.

As for the lady, maybe she was looking for a perfect opportunity to be done with him although this situation was rather embarrassing.
A sensible guy would find out why she said "NO". undecided She might be scared of marriage or might feel that she would not be able to cope with the demands of being a wife, or might have a secret that she feels could ruin the prospective marriage.

All these small boys talking here, can't see beyond their nose.... sad

Bollinger:
Wrong answer. It depends on the reason why she said no. Remember, women are supposed to be the ones who do the planning. My wife said no the first time because she knew i wasn't ready financially to take care of a family. She wanted us to wait so that there is no risk of babies being made. That motivated me to get my act together. It's been almost 20 years now.

Thank you, o! This is one of the few sensible responses, I have read on this thread....

tomtyte02:
Na you arrange yourself very fast and stand. Sometimes, when a girl says no, it might be that she cant marry you as at then. Check and know why she said No. It might be that she has not been convinced on one or two things. So just like asking a girl out over and over again, try again.

Good answer! wink

The ideas I have offered is expansion of existing refineries and Co-location of new refineries where there are other refineries. This is the only way to produce fuel cheaply. Refineries are not knew in this world. They are mature technologies and it is established fact that the BIGGER, the CHEAPER
Anyone building a refinery less than 100, 000 barrels a day is an idiot.

Please take it from me that modular refineries will never make a single dollar of profit in the Niger Delta.

I am not saying it for argument or because I don't like Nigeria.
It is just the truth .
Dangotes refinery is 650,000 barrels and would produce maybe 100 by products ..that is a business. Modular refineries are a joke.
Expansion of our existing govt-owned refineries?? shocked Do you know the current state of our existing refineries? Are you aware that many of them were built several years ago, and many of their core parts have become obsolete? Not only that, Turn Around Maintenance has not been done as properly as it should, and has failed to address the problem of incessant breakdowns. Unless, you are talking about a complete overhaul of those existing refineries, which is akin to building a new one. Otherwise, expanding existing refineries, may end up being like throwing good money after bad! sad There are refineries older than our own in other countries, but the only reason they have been functioning well, is that a strict and regular maintenance programme has been followed from day one, and components of those refineries have been retooled, overhauled and upgraded as and when due, over a period of time!

As for your assertion that only big refineries can produce cheap fuel, please note that technology has improved vastly and small refineries can also produce cheap fuel, even if it is not as cheap as the ones the big refineries produce. If we have 10 small refineries in Nigeria producing between 30,000 and 50,000 barrels per day, don't you think it would still have some favourable impact on our fuel supply? undecided

It is an insult to your generation to be fighting for a stupid idea of uneconomic small scale production of a fossil energy source liquid that will go out of use in 20 years.
You claim the refinery ideas are stewvpid. Yet, you have not offered any concrete solution to the problem. sad So until the oil goes out of fashion in 20 years, everyone in the country should sit down and twiddle their thumbs, and hope that fluctuating fuel prices, inadequate supply of petroleum products and worse still fuel scarcity, would just disappear by magic?

In January 2017, Gambia's embattled dictator Yahaya Jammeh ended his 22-year grip on power after agreeing to sign a last-minute deal to step down. This was after West Africa's regional bloc ECOWAS' military forces led by Nigerian troops, marched into the country. Jammeh read the handwriting on the wall, and fled.

In August 2017, Jose Eduardo dos Santos stepped down from power in Angola, after ruling for 38 years. His seat was taken over by Joao Lourenco, his former defence minister.

In November 2017, Robert Mugabe was forced out of office where he held sway as president of Zimbabwe, after a 37-year reign, and replaced by Emmerson Mnangagwa.

PaChukwudi44:
don't be dumb!!! which court? the EFCC did a press release and photo op without going to court. The charges are yet to be filed before any court of law

EFCC filed charges against Innoson in November, at a Lagos high court. The fact that he has been dodging, making it difficult for them to serve him with the papers, does not mean the case has not been filed! Or did the court registrar say the case has not been filed?

Breaking: EFCC files fraud charge against Innoson | 24 DEC 2017

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has filed a fraud charge against Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, alias Innoson, his company Innoson Nigeria Limited and his brother Charles Chukwuma.

The charge was dated 30 November, 2017 and filed at a Lagos High Court. In the case, the EFCC is accusing Innoson of obtaining containers of motorcycles spare parts by false pretences between 2009 and July 2011 in Lagos, ‘with intent to defraud.

The goods, said to be property of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, were allegedly obtained from Mitsui O.S.K Lines Limited in Apapa . The anti-graft agency claims that Innocent Chukwuma and Charles Chukwuma, “with intent to defraud induced the staff of Mitsui O.S.K and Maersk Line Limited to deliver”, to them through their clearing agents, the motor cycle spare parts, moulds of spare parts and steel structures and raw materials called polyvinlchloride, imported from China.

The charge said the accused falsely pretended that they were authorised by GTB to clear the goods and take delivery of them.

EFCC had on Tuesday arrested Innoson in Enugu, stirring some controversy that the arrest bore some ethnic motive and that the agency should not have waded into a dispute between GTB and the businessman.

Central to this was the story was that the parties were engaged in a dispute over illegal deductions from Innoson’s accounts by the GTB, with Innoson claiming that the bank was indebted to him and his company to the tune of billions of naira. In press and TV interviews, he said he had gotten judgement at both lower and appellate courts and that the GTB has an appeal at the Supreme Court.

GTB responded tersely that it would not join issues with the businessman as the issues between them are in the court.

The EFCC in releasing Innoson on bail Wednesday, explained that he was arrested after he refused to honour invitations by the Commission. He had been arrested by the commission before, and granted administrative bail. But he reneged on the bail and his surety could also not be found.

No sir, you are the one whose response has actually made you look like a fool. Why didn't Firdaus voice out her decision about putting on her hijab under the wig and gown, when she was at undergraduate level? Why didn't she raise a fuss when she entered law school? I can't see any sense in the write up, so because she want to become a lawyer she should disobey her God? Do you remember this so called education or profession come from the west, yet the westerners are tolerating every religion because they feel their should be freedom of religion. Have you been to shell even in Nigeria here where the Indians where their turbans because that's what they belief and it's not disturbing their performance. Am a Muslim and am a nurse,I will rather where and tuck in my hijab inside the uniform to prevent it from touching my uniform rather than wearing a bogus and dangling hair that is against the ethics of my profession. Sentiment is what is killing Africans, the world itself is peaceful only if we can learn how to tolerate each other.
Nobody is asking you to wear a bogus hair style. You can always have a low cut, if you wish. All we are saying is that there is an approved dress code and outfit, that a lawyer is expected to wear in court. And hijab is NOT a part of the prescribed outfit. You people sneaked the hijab into the medical profession, and people kept quiet. So you think you can do the same with the law?

And wearing the hijab, does not make any female, a better professional, in any way. Hijabi nurses and doctors, in general hospitals are touchy, rude and dismissive most times.

Firdaus even used her hand to sign up for that dress code, and promised to abide by the rules of the law school. Why did she do that, if she already knew she would break their rules, a few months down the line? It reeks of hypocrisy.

There is nothing erroneous in his assertion. Firdaus knew exactly what the dress code of the law school entailed, and was also aware of the proper form of dressing for lawyers.
