Education / Re: How Tough Is Medicine And Surgery As A Course? by walleygee01: 3:05pm On Jun 01, 2016
You see, most people don't realize how medicine and surgery is until they experience it themselves....

My colleague mowah has told u just the academics that go with it, he didn't tell you anything about the responsibilities that flow with it....

Do you want to talk about the lectures (from 8am-6pm everyday, no break, sometimes some profs can hold lectures at 10pm, and you won't say crap) the practicals (during preclinical) and the ward rounds/clinics (during clinical)....

What of the crazy exams, answering 800 objective questions in 3hrs, then coming back that same day to answer all 17essay questions..... Even before that, you write exams nearly every month.....

During ward rounds, you are abused, castigated, told that you can never make it in life, you can never be a doctor, in front of your patient....

Medicine, to me, is the toughest course ever, then we could mention others later

my role model dy tok you dy say na yamayama... I smell envy, boss leave dem alone day don't understand... I pray my father in heaven forgives dem for they know not wat dy r doing

hi I'm a med aspirant of Unilag I just wanna ask if I score 68/70 for MBBS and I'm not from any catchment area can I still be offered MBBS??

first of all are you from any of the catchment? if yes, check the previous years cut off and add/minus 3 to ascertain d possible cut off for this year.

but if you are not from catchment, I advice u work towards 70 and above. I think d least d merit cut off can be is 70.00 or 69( probability).

Hello
I'll advice your friend to give a try again. He's frm catchment (ogun state) and he's not going to be a novice for this year's post utme exam since he wrote the exam once and had 27/40.He'll just need to work hard towards the post utme to score 32+/40.As at last year,I still saw a score of 38/40 so 32 isn't "impossible".

Dr. Lagusta long time!!! how's d medical journey bin? I hope u r working in a big hospital with nice pay

thanks for answering

I'm not a lagosian and I'm studying Medicine in Lasu. It's purely based on meeting cut off mark. Though the cutting off us lower for Lagos insurance but I entered without knowing anybody. I simply met the cut off

U can't compare then to now. Esp when Lasu fee has become cheaper and they r not even releasing departmental cut off... I only hope dis yr admission is based on transparency

Well, it happens in all state schools(favours indigenes) but the ratio is still okay... U jst read well and leave that part for the school to worry about. And most especially, pray well.
