19CannyMum:

Just go back in 2 or 3 weeks like the other mummies said. Apparently over early scan can lead to unnecessary high BP.

Also from experience I prefer doing scan with sonologists rather than with doctors.
Thanks, you know you women can be funny mostimes, she was the one that insisted we go for scan, the radiographer said there is an evidence of pregnancy but too early to detect via ultrasound that we should come back in few weeks time

That must have been scary o. I got heartbeat at 5 weeks with my first. Was really fun.

We eventually went for the scan due to much pressure from my wife ,we were told is too early for that,(her Lmp is 8th july)scan shows pregancy in the uterus(endometrial shows desidual signs with thicknessof 2.2cm) but just worried about the fluid collection in Cul de sac..is this normal?although the doctor said is nothing to worry about that we should repeat in 2 weeks time..
Ovaries/adnexa are okay ..Doctor confirmed pregnancy through the scan but said is too early to measure..your sugggestions will be quite helpful

If she's not experiencing pain or bleeding please don't go yet.
Just do a blood test to confirm the pregnancy and wait till at least 9weeks for scan. By then the GS, FP and HB will be visible.
I woke up in pain one morning at almost 6 weeks and went for a scan. Co existing fibroid were cause of the pian but that early only a Gestational sac was seen, no fetal pole no Heartbeat and I was asked to redo the scan in 3 weeks...those were the longest 3 weeks of my life cry I dont wish it for anybody else.

Thanks and i appreciate..she is not experiencing any pain, just mild cramping

Bone of contention is staph growth. With staph infection, you should have more pus cells. Some cases more than 20 in real practice. You cannot be having pus cells of 3 to 5 in staph aurues. What I have learnt over years is that if you see staph aureus growth in culture with that level of pus cells and count, rule out contaminant or repeat. Seminalysis is not difficult to do but is proned to both pre analytical and analytical errors.
I was expecting him to say, contamination is a possibility but the patient can be treated empirically with a coverage for Chlamydia infection which is now one of leading cause of tubal blockage in female and seminal vesicles infection in Male but he chooses to argue.

On the semen analysis, it was written bacteria nil
But culture showed staphylococcus

Staph is not just STI. It is more than STI. Do you pus cells in that seminalysis? If you see that normal seminalysis with staph growth. A good lab should check for contamination. I do not think you are either MLS or doctor.

Do you think my count is high?

That's good. Many strains of Staph are resistant to drugs and that's why people say that staph has no cure as it keeps comming back. If it reoccurs, please try vancomycin. It has more potency on stubborn strains.

Meanwhile, I updated my first post. Having said that, get to know her ovulation period (her most fertile days) which is few days before her red days (menstrual cycle). Armed with that information, stay off sex or masturbation or ejaculation for 3-4 days (Min. period of sperm refill into the sperm sack) before the start of her cycle, then on the cool night of her ovulation, please perform marital duties (coitus) on her and immediately after, she should sleep and not walk around.

Goodluck on your first Son and do give me a mention 9-10months from now. God bless.

Thanks sir.. Will do as instructed

Sorry to say, but I'm almost sure that the "staphylococcus" from that semen culture is a contaminant, and not an actual infection.
Hitting you with gentamycin and ofloxacin was unnecessary

Thought as much..thanks

Often times, it isn't advisable that a patient be told his fertilsation index as this could lead to irregularities between couples if left unchecked. Besides, you're just 3months into marriage and except if you've been trying couple of months before marriage, you've got nothing to fear. It could still be the homones playing tricks. Anyways, you're fine and can father children but please check that underlying STI, if left for long, your sperm motility will reduce further. As it is now, it's even high.

Thanks sir for this, I have already completed the treatment for the staphylococcus.. I was placed on Gent and oxfloacin for 7days. Thanks

Coming back to modify

modified: You abstained for 4days between ejaculation, your spermcount per milli-litre is 131million of spermatozoa. After the 4days, sample of your sperm was taken and found to be...

SPERMCOUNT: 131MIL/ML. In a ml of your sperm, you have 131mil spermcount.

VOLUME: 1.5ml. This means you ejaculated 1 and 1/2 of a ml which is 196.5mil spermatozoa. Now is this fertile or non fertile? You get to find out below.

MOTILITY: 45 Percent active. 45 percent of your spermatozoa is active and fertile. That's 88.4mil fertile and active cells.

15 percent sluggish motile: that's 29.5mil of sperm cells that's thrifting between being redundant and active sperm cell. If you ask me, i'll say these cells are useless in trying to fertilize an overy. It can only go far enough to be killed by the uterian wall.

40 percent non mortile: Of the 196.5mil of spermatozoa, 78.6ml is redundant, that is non active and can't swim up to either ovary.

VISCOSITY: Watery. In lay man term, this signifies the thickness of your ejaculation which is watery.

Morphology which is 80percent normal: 80 percent size and shape (which isn't limited to the characteristic feature of the head and tail of a spermatozoa) of your 1.5ml ejaculation which is 196.5ml is normal.

Thanks for this brilliant analysis.. Really appreciate, is this result enough for fertilisation?

Three months is too early to be worried. The worry even puts extra pressure on you and your spouse which might even affect conception.
I want ro believe that yourself and your spouse are within "fertile age". If that is affirmed, you shouldn't be worried about infertility until you've been trying for at least a year.
Learn your spouse's menstrual cycle/calendar, and do not miss sex during her fertile period. Generally, sex of at least 3x weekly (quality sex) should be sufficient to bring about conception of there are no underlying conditions

Yes, we just got married.

Why did you go for a semen analysis? That should inform the interpretation.

But with a quick look, nothing seems unusual about the result.

We have been trying to conceive for 3 months now.. Just a little bit worried

Good morning sir.... Your viscosity should be normal not watery.
Again, active/progressive motility should be at least 50%
Treat the Staphylococcus aureus infection and you will notice great improvement.

Your sperm count is excellent so is your sperm morphology.

Wifey nko?
Has she been tracking her ovulation?
Has she done a pelvic scan?
Hope her fallopian tubes are okay?

Baby dust to you!!!!

Amen.. I will do that and will kindly take her for checkup too.. Thanks for your response ,but can this result get someone pregnant?
