Webmasters / Web Page to Inbox Help by WhiteBaby(m): 2:59am On Aug 13, 2005
I am presently designing a site for a client, who is insisting that stuff from a web form be sent directly to her inbox. Does anybody know cool ways to do this ?
And what webhosts (preferably in Nigeria) support this ?
Technology Market / Re: Cheap Computers in Nigeria by WhiteBaby(m): 5:47pm On Jul 25, 2005
Those "cheap" prices sure aint cheap.
Just last week, a friend of mine got a 2.4GHZ Celeron with 40GB HDD, 256MB RAM, DVD-ROM, (lan/sound/video) + a HP monitor for 48,500.

Cheap or what !
Sports / Re: John Mikel Obi. Which Club and Why? by WhiteBaby(m): 3:59pm On Jul 21, 2005
Sorry to dissapoint you, but I prefer ManU to ASSenal, anyday anytime.
However, I just used that example to show you that in football, there is no such thing as without sentiment.

I am a Milan fan, in general, but a Chelsea fan (in the premeirship).

Your description of Mourhino's tactics show that you actually do "watch" football, and not "look" at the players.
Still, I say Mikel should be in a team that he wants to play for, and not in a team that seem to want him now, but won't hesitate to sell him off for peanuts the moment he starts to falter (ask Cole and Yorke)
Forum Games / Re: Did You Know? (Share Scientific Facts) by WhiteBaby(m): 3:44am On Jul 20, 2005
Did u know that no one knows (to the nearest 20 million) how many Nigerians there are ?

Did u know there are over 300 different distributions of linux and each is more stable and secure than the less than 10 different versions of windows ?

Did u know that no man ever completely undestood/understands any woman ? (disputable)
Sports / Re: John Mikel Obi. Which Club and Why? by WhiteBaby(m): 2:10am On Jul 20, 2005
U seem to know it all, and have said it all, right ?

WRONG !!!

Mikel is a talented player, and I believe he will find a place in any team in the world.
Removing sentiment, Mikel should play for Arsenal, as they have just sold Viera, and their midfield has a GREAT BIG VOID. But of course, Arsenal is not in the race to sign him, and the fact that there is a race to buy him means the coaches have plans for him.
Look at Owen. He arrived an already saturated Madrid team, and sits on the bench, but he came of that bench to score 13 goals. He's fighting to prove himself better than Ronaldo and/or Raul, and he is succeeding. I won't be surprised if he plays more matches, and scores more goals this season.

Bottom line, Mikel in Chelsea sounds almost as sweet as Nigeria winning the World Cup, defeating Argentina 9-0 in the final grin ( that be say we spell argentina give them cheesy )
Computers / Re: Microsoft Windows Vista (formerly "Longhorn") by WhiteBaby(m): 1:54am On Jul 20, 2005
All I can say is that Microsoft is .......... (surprise surprise) Microsoft. The single most important change Microsoft ever made was Windows 95. Since then, thev'e not really done anything spectacular, apart from create more spectacular and annoying BSODs (Blue Screen Of Death, for the uninformed). I plan to introduce an appreciable number of Nigerians to GNU/Linux, and it's my firm belief that with a distro like Debian, Windows and Longhorn and Shorttail rolleyes are in a big pot of soup.

Anybody needing Debian, or Mandrake or Kanotix contact me !!
Education / Re: Institutions of Learning by WhiteBaby(m): 1:21am On Jun 17, 2005
Firstly, I don't subscribe to the story about Nigeria or Africa being cursed.
It's all boulderdash angry. We just didn't develop as quickly as Europe and the US in the areas that matter today(namely Science and Technology). We are a confused people, since the days of slave trade, and we need more than a GREAT LEADER to lead us out of the wilderness. We need to WANT to leave the wilderness.
Secondly, our "Institutions of Learning" are nothing more than "Institutions of Getting Certificates". More teachers are unconcerned about developing the "Leaders of tommorrow", and concerned about extra-curricular salary generating ventures.
Thirdly, Africans as a whole will find it really hard to escape the above two positions, 'because we don't actually have the inner undefinable quality in Europeans, called PATRIOTISM. We had no choice over the creation of our countries, and as such, we don't really really see why the country's interests supercedes our personal interests.

Or so I think ....  cool

Nairaland / General / Error or Oversight? (complaint about forum software) by WhiteBaby(m): 12:03am On Jun 17, 2005
I just registered here, cos of the kind of interesting and insightful remarks I found in the forums, but I just noticed a snag. After updating my profile and clicking Update, the page return to the same Update profile page. It should return to a version of the home page, but we a little info at the top, "Your profile update was succesfull".
Don't you think so ?
Anyhow, in general, this is really fantastic grin. I had just started developing something really similar to this, with some differences, of course, before stumbling here. You beat me to it cry .
