South Africa is a no-no , too many Nigerians loitering the street doing nothing, unless you are a professional e.g doctor etc you can have a wonderful life and blend easily, but if you are one to hustle, you will be one of many Nigerians in Kempton, hillbrow CBD being a nuisance to South Africans

They kill each other over drug wars, cults and human trafficking is order of the the day in SA, and when these happens they will call it Xenephobia.

A Nigerian guy was killed in a restaurant in Pretoria, gun men walked to their table shot only him and left, when police arrived they checked his car and found his car boot filled with money. Was it a hit? Were his hands clean? It was alleged it was a deal gone wrong, these killings happen every day

Mob beats alleged dealers, sets 'drug den' alight in Pretoria CBD

https://www.iol.co.za/news/south-africa/gauteng/mob-beats-alleged-dealers-sets-drug-den-alight-in-pretoria-cbd-33487084

The building from where they allegedly sold drugs was also set alight by the mob.

Police had to close off traffic on Bloed street, where the suspects were caught.

Tshwane emergency services workers, who were called in to extinguish the fire, were chased by the crowd from doing their work.

According to an eyewitness operating a clothing shop in the street, chaos broke out after one of the suspects tried to sell drugs to a woman.

The drugs were stuffed inside a wig, which was handed over to the woman.

Eyewitnesses said the woman was surprised to discover a white powder wrapped inside a plastic inside the wig.

Wanting to establish if the powder was really a drug, she showed it a group of taxi drivers, who confirmed that it was indeed drugs.

There was suddenly a commotion when an angry mob attacked the seller, who was identified as a Nigerian national.

The man was badly beaten with fists and kicked until he fell on the ground. He was then ordered to identify the person who sent him to sell drugs.

The alleged mastermind, who was inside a block of flat, tried to run away from the fuming crowd. However, he was cornered and beaten up by the mob.

The two were rescued by the police, who arrested them.

The situation continued to be tense as the police asked bystanders to leave the scene.

The hostile crowd prohibited a Pretoria News photographer from taking pictures and intimidated bystanders not to take pictures with their cellphones.

“THE KILLINGS IN SOUTH AFRICA
THE NIGERIAN COMPLICITY
THE TRUE STORIES

I tried to keep my peace over this attack on Nigerians by South Africans but the increased calls by Nigerians over here for boycott of this and that and for our ambassador/Nigerian government to act this and act that has spurred me to pen this down here!

I condemn in its totality, the violence meted on Nigerians living in South Africa! I abhor the violent taking of life even one done legally....... BUT IT MUST BE STATED THAT NIGERIANS LIVING IN S.A. HAVE SYSTEMATICALLY DESTROYED THE VERY FABRIC OF THAT COUNTRY..... MORALLY, CULTURALLY, ECONOMICALLY AND SOCIALLY!

Let us take stock:

1. It was Nigerians that immigrated to South Africa and turned it to one of the major capital city of drugs in the world!

The drug cartels began with the Yorubas and increasingly overtaken by the IGBOS in S.A.! In fact, right this moment, the IGBOS in the drug business have effectively run the Yorubas out of S.A. to other southern African countries like Mozambique etc.

2. The Nigerians in S.A. have presently turned the country into a drug-war zone!....killings galore.....Igbos killing Igbos!

Do you know that every day in S.A., a Nigerian.....precisely an Igbo man is killed in a drug-related case?? .....I said every day not once a week!....or once in 3 days!..... EVERYDAY! In fact the Igbo boys running the shows in S. A. have dominated areas they control and all these to the chagrin of the law enforcement agencies!

Let me tell you a secret that is not so secret.....do you know that every week at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport here in Enugu, corpses of IGBOS.....slain in "drug battles" in different streets of S.A. are flown into the country??

I have personally witnessed the receiving of 7 corpses in 3 weeks in one instance! In fact at one of those occasions.....(normally the corpses arrive on the Thursday cargo flights of Ethiopian Airlines)....I was present when 3 different families were in the manager's office to receive their slain sons......two of those families were represented by the aged biological fathers to the dead boys!....the third family, represented by a younger man in age...an uncle to the third corpse!

They were making small talks between themselves as they waited for the cargo (the coffins) to be disembarked.....(to be "off-loaded"wink!

One of them asked the other elder which city his son was in? He answered Jo'burg!....on further enquiry as to whether his own son was married, he retorted... No!....to which the first man commented that his own son has a son from a white South African.....and that the lady simply packaged some of the personal documents/items of his son and informed him of the date of the arrival of the son's corpse to Enugu but that she has blatantly refused all entreaties to accompany the corpse home!.....That they are certain that that son of his son (his grandson) would never return home to Nigeria!

The other silent man (the uncle to one of the dead) remarked that "his own family were indeed lucky in that their slain son had been coerced to come home and marry a Nigerian girl and has 2 kids (girls) already". Then told of his own story of seeking greener pastures in S. A. and how he couldn't fit into the street hustling..... According to him.......basically all IGBOS in S.A. are on the streets......from Hillbrow... Jo'burg to Capetown!....from Pretoria....to Durban!

He said he never bargained for such a life and quickly left his host....a maternal cousin and took his return ticket back home! That he has since engaged in his petty trading and is doing well enough and has 4 kids!

As this conversation was going on, I was quietly musing to myself:

How on earth could these gentlemen.....soft-spoken elderly men take all these agony......for surely it must be agony for them to be the ones burying their scions!....how could they sit in those swivel chairs in front of the manager and stoically be discussing the end of their eras??......do they have other sons and daughters probably??.... Maybe they did their best to counsel and chide their sons to desist from the fast lane and have accepted their sons' fates??

I wondered about their wives/mothers to those sons they would never behold again....not because they died from ailment or accident but simply because they sought wealth......this fleeting wealth the wrong way!

I wondered if they would heal or forgive their sons or they would look upon the wealth and groan in satisfaction that all was not lost after all??

I imagined myself in the shoes of their grief and I swore to myself that I would sooner let go such a son from my heart who refused to heed my counsel than be forced to mourn his untimely death in pursuit of meaningless riches!

I watched them file out of the office one after the other and shuddered unconsciously again!!

3. This will shock you...... Are you aware that Nigerians living in S. A. have literally turned little/young South African girls into strings of well-oiled prostitution rings?? .....I am talking of girls between the ages of 10-14 years old! These young South African girls are introduced.....scratch that!....these girls are immersed in drugs and turned to addicts and then they are set on the streets to be prostituted and their lives are effectively and totally wrecked! .....

Now put yourself in the shoes of these South Africans!

Would we all as Nigerians stomach a situation whereby in Lagos State or Anambra State or Bauchi State or Enugu State or Yobe State or a combination of those states, Kenyans or Zimbabweans or South Africans or people from neighboring Ghana would populate our cities....legitly or illegally and begin to sell drugs to our young men...turn our school girls into prostitutes....and litter our streets with dead bodies of their gang wars?

Would Lagosians allow their children to be used as pimps and prostitutes by FOREIGNERS who desecrate daily our value systems??

Would Enugu inhabitants allow Ghanaians to run our streets into crime zones.....such that we can't sleep at night and worry if our kids sent to schools are really at school or in a drug hotel somewhere sniffing white powders....and our girls violated daily sexually??

Wouldn't we someday just scream enough is enough and take up arms to rid our city of such devilish foreigners??

Are you aware that Indians populate a city in S.A. called Durban?? Do you know that Indians at one time recently, carried out systematic killings of Nigerians living in Durban??

What was the cause??....there was some Indian youths that were sold a harsh substance by the drug cartel which would literally liquefy the innards of the person leading to instant death!

These drug pushers know that this substance is adulterated and causes death (not addiction) yet they push it out there to their peddlers!

The Indians decided to help themselves and their community and embarked on a killing spree of Nigerians in Durban engaged in the drug business and left their calling cards in their victims!

Ask yourself this:

Did the South Africans begin to hate us all of a sudden or they had always hated us all these while??

How come we all used to migrate to South Africa easily and many of us married their girls (I know some friends who did and are still living happily with their wives) but now they hate us all??

OR

Would you close your eyes to the evil we Nigerians have unleashed in South Africa simply because we saved them from apartheid era?? So because we assisted them that now gives us the gumption to destroy their society like we've persistently done ours??

Some home grown truths will serve us in good stead here than this pontificating all over the place I plead!

Picture those attackers on our people....beating and burning them up as mothers or fathers or brothers or cousins who have lost a son or daughter or sibling to the cold hands of death by drug intake or whose virginity has been brutally lost and who is a human wreck to her society!

Before you cast your stone.....imagine that you lost your own dear child to crime...and not just any crime but one perpetrated by your own visitors!

My take on all these: NIGERIANS SHOULD FIRSTLY DEMAND THE CLEANUP OF SOUTH AFRICA and that includes the incaceration and/or deportation of these miscreants giving us all bad reputation in S.A.!

The drug war raging in that country engineered by our countrymen must be stopped!

Then the two countries should rapport to safeguard the lives and businesses of the many genuine Nigerians living and contributing to the economy of South Africa!

PS: Pls after reading this post, but before you start the deluge of insults upon me, kindly call up your own brother doing legitimate business in S.A. and he will confirm these facts to you as the absolute TRUTH!

Politics / Re: Nigeria Students To South Africans: Vacate From Nigeria Before 48 Hrs - Vanguard by whitebrown(f): 6:33pm On Feb 23, 2017
It's a real pity that things have degenerated to this extent. I am a Nigerian and I live here in SA and have done so for well over a decade. Though I am a professional but not oblivious to the events occurring here. I have Yoruba friends and ibo friends alike and we engage in discussions very often. The biggest problem here is that lots and loads of our brothers from the east have really created a bad image for Nigeria. I listened on the radio a few days ago has people called in. Strange enough, the callers included Congolese, Ghanaians etc and they were all pointing fingers at one nation, Nigeria and complaining about the drug problem. Parents are facing problems with their high school kids now easily having access to drugs. Just a month ago, I went to get some Nigerian foodstuff and while I was there, I started chatting up an ibo brother who I liked so much as he seemed very grounded and respectful. I was shocked when he told me about the crime occurring in that area which is practically occupied from beginning to end by his fellow brothers. He told me of his tribes men involvement in robbery, house breaking and car hijacking. Yes I was shocked! But this was coming from a fellow Nigerian who trades on that street. He told me that what I see visually is different from the happenings underground. I asked about the police and why they were not arresting them and he said the police are also in on it and they just come around to collect their 'share' as they give them a certain amount daily.
I am sure that a few Yoruba people are also involved in shady dealings but the name Nigeria is synonymous to drugs and those involved in that line are Nigeria's biggest problem.
Unfortunately, lots of decent well meaning Nigerians both home and away feel the impact of this negative image but the perpetrators who mostly are uneducated and you atimes wonder if they flew here straight from their villages without ever experiencing civilization. They continue with their trade and you can't help but wonder if they ever listen to the news. If you take a drive to those areas even in the midst of all these current event, I promise you they are still going about selling their drugs like nothing is happening.
I personally think Nigerians in South Africa should themselves stand up and speak with one voice and let even the South African public know that Nigeria as a country and people stand against drugs and drug peddlers. A lawyer friend of mine once told me that 98% of Nigerians in SA prisons are ibos and some serving as much as 35yrs sentence and almost all are drug related offenses. By the way, I have ibo friends who are doctors and also some studying at various levels. Infact I meet one last week doing his masters in economics. A good analogy is taking a pinch of dye and pouring it into a big bowl of clean water. When people look into the bowl, all they see is contaminated water. We as Nigerians of all tribes have to fight those dragging our name down by involving in drugs because that is not who we are.

Bro, your suggestion is part of the issue. Our problem in Nigeria is both macro and micro. You mentioned "decentralization" and making states more "productive". Great I agree, but my point is that "productivity" in itself is a term that when broken down comprises of little initiatives and steps. When states become productive let say in agriculture for example, do u realize that the goods still have to be transported across the nation. Do you realize that the an alternative and cheaper means of conveying goods means a reduction in cost of sales. Also do you realize that alternative means of xsportation means lesser demand for diesel which trucks use, less demand for Truck tyres, less pressure on our roads, less accidents etc. my point is that any progress has a multiplier effect and let's give credit when it's due. Again let me reiterate that I absolutely see nothing much this administration has done.

I really love the content of ur first line. That's the spirit. Nigeria will not be fixed overnight. By the way, I am not a supporter of buhari' government considering the hardship Nigerians are facing presently but let's keep making this seemingly little strides. If all these rail projects do is to facilitate the movement of goods across geographical locations, it's a good step. Nigerians are not looking for a miracle worker but seeking for progress that is tangible. Whatever little income we generate and the loots recovered from thieves(politicians), let it be put to use in a way we can all see and feel. We might have a journey on our hand, the road ahead might be very rough, but let Nigerians know and see that everyday they make sacrifices, their destination to economic freedom becomes closer. The length of our journey as a nation needs to be specific, our destination needs to be clearly marked, we should be able as a people to know how far we have gone and how further we still need to go. We should not be like passengers in an aircraft that seem to fly forever with no destination in sight except been told by the pilots that "we would soon be there" but never getting there and no sigh of descent.
Agriculture / Re: EU Ban On Nigerian Beans: FG Inaugurates Standing Committee by whitebrown(f): 10:49am On Aug 31, 2016
Which way Nigeria? High level of pesticides in beans!!! We really need clear thinking and sound judgment in this country. Our solutions should be strategic(long term). We have a failing health sector, the health sector can't cope with patients. Consuming food this high in pesticides will only result in people developing illnesses and diseases sooner or later. This puts further pressure on the health sector. We say we have been consuming this and nothing happened, really? Do we understand that the lack of adequate data collection in Nigeria obscures the severity of health problems? Eu has extended the ban for another 3 years, what of the people in Nigeria who consume these as a staple? So we believe our body is immune to the effect of this pesticides. All I see is this committee and that committee with no implementation of any recommendations. So if the eu had not tested the food and determined that they are pesticides laden, we as a nation were never going to find out. This is synonymous to the eu saying to us "you all can kill and poison yourselves but please don't come kill our people". The food is not good to be consumed by any individual living in any of the eu countries but we as a nation couldn't do the needful to protect its own citizens. Instead of tackling issues like this relation to 'fit for consumption' status of our food, we rather worry about the symptoms(health implication) and not the cause( toxic level of pesticides in our food). I ask again, "which way Nigeria?"

I am amazed how we just seem as Nigerians unable to get past pdp/apc, Jonathan/buhari. Most people knew that buhari was not the answer, still how does anyone sit back and watch the endless looting and reckless spending of the Jonathan admin. The period when global oil prices soared had nothing to do with the pdp government or Nigeria, it was in my words a 'jackpot'. It's no rocket science that it was not going to continue indefinitely. The question is what happened to all the revenue that came in at that period? Was electricity fixed? Were roads built? Do we now have a rail system even if it's to transport goods across the country reducing the impact of trucks on roads and their menace? What of hospitals? Is the infrastructure in our universities now better? What happened to all the wind fall of money.

Buhari is clueless and has a military style approach. All his ministers are too timid to stand for the truth. His spokesman adeshina something standing to be corrected on his name is not any better than fani kayode as he no absolutely no tact.

Question is: is it that difficult or impossible for us as a nation to look beyond these bunch of tired recycled politicians? Will young fresh minds who fully understand where the world is and where it's going ever be given a chance in Nigeria? Why is it that the present crop of politicians see governance as their family inheritance?
Do Nigerian politicians understand what it means to be a civil servant? Where is the willingness to truly serve the people. Is power and money that toxic?
They can continue to destroy Nigeria and send their children overseas, someday, they would realize that no matter what, their children would never lay claim to those countries. Generations always looks far away but it never really is.

I salute all the posters who have taken time to comment and hi-light the dangers of this empty filler called indomie. If only people took a bit of time to educate themselves by reading through the ingredients, chemical additives, toxic colourants and cancerous preservatives in this food, you would understand that this is just another company exploiting the economic situation and lack of knowledge of many.
Times are hard in Nigeria we all know, but in the midst of these are companies especially the foreign ones who see an opportunity of 'legal witchcraft' (junk waste products, nice packaging, big advertising). After all they say, survival is the concern of most in Nigeria and anything goes. To them, this is Nigeria, a land flowing with milk and honey. A land where you could sell nothing for a lot.
To those who eat these toxins once a while, it might be understandable, but those who have made this a staple meal especially for their children, remember, your kids rely on your judgement, when you fail to do the needful by atleast understanding what's in these foods, you and only you are responsible for the outcome. If not for your own sake, please get enlightened for the sake of your children.

Please explain to me how the op was careless and deserves no pity? Are you a vet? Because honestly that statement is unwarranted. You could have advised him to seek vet attention. He is starting to breed and the truth is he needs to learn. For a person with one or two dogs, the vet is the number one stop even when your dog is 'barking too much'. To someone with multiple dogs who breeds on a fairly large scale, he needs to learn how to deal with situations and know if he has to call a vet, then it's something that needs urgent attention. To paint him as a person trying to outsmart the vet is very harsh and rash. Before you criticize me, I have been to over 100 breeders and know so many with some having over 100 dogs and even have seasoned vet friends who are also breeders, so I know what I am saying. I also owned 18 dogs at some point . God bless!

I very much doubt this is parvo. Though the symptoms look the same but parvo can't come without you picking up the signs of a problem with your dogs like lack of appetite, withdrawal, lethargy, dullness etc. secondly these dogs are different breeds and their resistance to ailments would be different. The space between the deaths is too close. If you vaccinated them a few days earlier and these happened immediately, then there is something seriously wrong with those vaccines. Again have you given thought that it might be food related? Are they on thesame food? Did you open a new bag of food just a few days before this incident? If so, what food is it? If you can give these information, it might help. Lastly for those who believe vaccination is a definite guarantee against parvo, please it is not ! You need to understand how the vaccines works. You can vaccinate a while litter of pups and some would still come down with parvo. Lastly op, if you intend breeding on a large Scale as someone earlier indicated, you must be very careful. Careful of who comes into your kennel, of people touching your dogs, of the source of the dogs that you bring into your kennel and put some basic things in place. Breeding is good, but you must know your story!

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Is 35k Pay Good For A Graduate? by whitebrown(f): 5:48pm On Mar 05, 2015

Let me share a little fact and experience with you. I studied electrical/ electronics in Nigeria and proceeded to qualify as a chartered accountant way back in 1997, few months after, I left the country in pursuit of a life long dream. Applied for so many jobs I felt was befitting, was always or mostly called for interviews and then the question of experience was always asked. I believed I was very good academically having passed out with your 2/1 in elect/elect and passed my ICAN exams in record time. After spending all my money on faxing cvs and xsport for interviews with one peculiar problem, sound job experience lacking, I knew then that companies value personnel based on the perceived value they will add to the organization and nothing else.
Finally out of frustration, my ego came down and I realized that no matter what I thought of my 'acclaimed brilliance', I needed a place to gain experience rather than seeing myself as an asset to any organization. I started calling practices and offering to work for free. Yes Free! I was used a lot and even voluntarily stayed back when other colleagues had left. Though I had offered to work for free, I was paid what a receptionist of tea lady will get. I remember one of the directors telling me later while I was now in their employ that the reason they called me in for an interview was because it was his first time ever that he heard someone wanted to work for free! He just needed to put a face to the voice.
6 months down the line, multiple promotions, 1 yr down the line, I had become so good that I was heading a whole team to audits of big big companies like daewoo group of those days and the likes. I said I was so good, reason: it's not often when a white boss of a big firm tells you 'you so intelligent, it's frightening' . During my one month resignation notice, 5 companies whom were clients wanted my service and the pay was staggering.

Advice to you my brother, reporting to a place of work for 30days is not what gives you a leverage, it's your value to the company which is a function of what you bring to the table, what value to add to the shareholders wealth, if it's a big corp. Even management want to know what you bring to their pocket also as the more value added to the company, the more your bosses take home in bonuses. If you not there yet, your focus should be where you can gain good valuable experience. Sacrifice now, smile later because when you become good, 'you would ask because you'd know you can deliver'
