Crime / Killings At Mtn Bts Site In Aba- (pics With Caution) by wholex(m): 2:48pm On Sep 20, 2010
Got this from a friend and want to share it with NL . Its about man inhumanity to man.

This is to inform you that our team of engineers went out to work at Gabby Oil Aba Road Aba, Abia State and while working on the generator four Gun men walked into the BTS site while the team of engineers were waiting for the RBS to load after bringing up the generator and held them at gunpoint.

It was also recorded that the team met some Ericssion engineers on site working on the transmission link- one ericssion engineer, one driver, two mobile policemen, a rigger on top of the tower as well as the site security guard.

The gunmen asked for PETROLSEAL car key, but apparently couldn't get it because the person with the car key went to the hood to use the toilet. The four gunmen, still holding everyone at gunpoint asked for the car key inside the BTS site and immedaitely the petrolseal engineer told them that the person in possession of the key went out to buy something and knowing fully well that the mopol was inside the shelter along side the ericssion staff and PETROLSEAL staff the gun men felt threatened and opened fire on everyone in the BTS site, and also came outside and shot the rigger on top of the tower while the other ericssion engineer and his driver hid behind the RBS units in the site, so the fired bullets missed them.

The armed robbers came out side the shelter an saw one of our petrolseal staff (AC TECHNICAN) and demanded for the car key, the technican told the gunmen that he didn't have the car key on him, so they collected the key that he had on him which was the site key- 1 Abloy and 1 CISA KEY. They went into the car and tried to use it to start the car but couldn't. Then gunshots were heard from afar. It was a group of mobile military men coming their way so the robbers ran away.

The AC technician, the ericssion engineer and the driver were the only survivors of the sporadic firing, while six others (ONE PETROLSEAL ENGINEER, TWO MOPOL MEN, THE RIGGER AND THE SECURITY MAN) were killed outright while the second Petrolseal Engineer was died on arrival at the hospital. All bodies have been taken to the mortuary.

Govs To Senate: Make Goodluck Jonathan Acting President Now
February 05, 2010 16:41 (29 minutes ago), 50 views

By Oluokun Ayorinde/ Abuja

Attempts by the ailing President Umaru Yar’Adua to continue to rule Nigeria from his sick bed in Saudi Arabia received another major blow early this morning as governors of the 36 states of Nigeria asked the upper chamber of the National Assembly to begin the process of making Vice President, Goodluck Jonathan the Acting President.

Briefing newsmen on the outcome of their meeting held at the Kwara State governor’s lodge, Governor Bukola Saraki, Chairman of the Governors’ Forum said the state executives will meet with the leadership of the National Assembly to put an end to the power vacuum in the country.

http://thepmnews.com/2010/02/05/govs-to-make-goodluck-jonathan-acting-president-now

According to Saraki, the governors will convince the National Assembly to pass a resolution that will make Jonathan the Acting President.

This is a major departure from the position the governors, especially those elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), have held before now. It is also another setback to efforts by the pro-Yar’Adua group to ensure that he will continue to hold on to power despite his medical incapacitation.

The Senate during its last sitting passed a resolution in which it asked Nigeria’s President to transmit a letter to the National Assembly that he is outside the country for medical vacation according to Section 145 of the Constitution.

Also, the Minister of Information and Communications, Professor Dora Akunyili at last Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presented a memo to her colleagues in the cabinet in which she asked Yar’Adua to comply with Section 145, which will allow Jonathan to assume the status of an Acting President.

Also, Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State has insited in several media interviews, that Yar’Adua should comply with Section 145 of the Constitution by writing a letter to the National Assembly.

Last week, a group of eminent Nigerians led by Second Republic President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, had also in a memo to the National Assembly asked the lawmakers to ensure that Yar’Adua complies with section 145 of the Constitution, to enable Jonathan become Acting President.

Many analysts believe that the intervention of the governors, who were instrumental to Yar’Adua’s emergence in 2007 as president, may break the backs of the pro-Yar’Adua group who insisted that the ailing President does not need to transmit a letter to indicate his absence from the country.

However, the governors from the Northern states, under the aegis of Northern Governors Forum, said after their meeting in Kaduna yesterday that Jonathan can become the acting President regardless of whether there is a written communication from Yar’Adua or not.

Chairman of Northern Governors Forum, Dr. Muazu Aliyu of Niger State told journalists that every level of government must continue to support Jonathan until Yar’Adua returns from his medical trip

Career / Re: Is An Mba From Lagoos Business School (lbs) Worth It? by wholex(m): 2:05pm On Jan 07, 2010
An EMBA is essentially a part-time MBA, but the average student profile is slightly different. These programs are aimed at experienced executives who prefer not to take a career break to take a full-time MBA. Like i said the difference is basically the mode of study.
Just like part -time degree program was conceptualize for working class who does not have the luxury of time doing full time degree program. Same as EMBA created for working class executives who dont have time to attend full time program.

So how does this dispute the rating of lbs as the 59th business school worldwide

Business / CBN Moves To Return ETB To Adenuga by wholex(m): 9:19am On Oct 23, 2009
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is set to return Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr. to the Board of the Equitorial Trust Bank (ETB), THISDAY has learnt.

The newspaper was informed that the CBN Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, was inclined to return Adenuga to the Board following the concrete steps taken thus far by Adenuga to shore up the capital base of ETB with the injection of an initial capital of $150 million.

A CBN official told THISDAY that since no criminal activity, such as insider lending and money laundering, was found against Adenuga during the special audit of banks operating in the country, “the most plausible step to take now is to reinstate him as a non-executive director of ETB and guide the bank in resolving any observed issues”.

Sanusi, THISDAY learnt, has consulted widely with the CBN Committee of Governors, comprising the governor and his deputies, as well as the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), over the development.

Unlike other troubled banks in which serious infractions bordering on criminal activities were discovered, ETB was said to have been affected by the last CBN action mainly because of the ownership structure.

The CBN had on October 2 sacked the Managing Director of the bank, Mr. Ike Oraekwuotu, and removed Adenuga as a non-executive director after a special audit of the remaining 14 banks.

In the build-up to the resolution of the ETB issue, the CBN also met with Adenuga and other shareholders of the bank and endorsed their offer to re-capitalise the ETB with an initial injection of $150 million.

“Adenuga’s offer is positive and since he was not found to have been involved in any criminal infraction, we decided to resolve the issue as quickly and smoothly as possible without compromising on audit,” a highly placed CBN official said.

THISDAY checks revealed that while Sanusi frowned on “sole proprietorship” of banks because of deep concerns over internal checks and control, he was convinced after the review of the ETB case that the decision to restore Adenuga to the ETB board was the fair and professional step to take, particularly since no criminal infraction that could dislocate the Nigerian economy was perpetrated in ETB when Adenuga served on the Board as non-executive director.

The CBN, it was also gathered, was unwilling to inject government money into ETB, a private limited company with a few shareholders. It is not quoted on the stock exchange.

The new move by the CBN is seen as buttressing the position of the CBN Governor in the wake of the reform in the banking sector that it has no ethnic coloration.

Following his confirmation as the CBN Governor by the Senate, Sanusi promised to make risk management, reporting and regulation as his three key areas of focus.

Many analysts are of the opinion that the ongoing reform in the banking sector will grow local and international confidence in the Nigerian economy.
Eight bank MDs have been sacked since the August 14 intervention in banks by the CBN over issues of liquidity, capital adequacy and corporate governance. The banks affected are Intercontinental, Oceanic, Union, Afribank, FinBank, BankPHB, Spring and ETB.

The sack of ETB chief executive and the removal of Adenuga as a non-executive director took many analysts by surprise because of the profile of Dr. Adenuga, a highly respected entrepreneur and one of the biggest employers of labour in the country.
