I strongly doubt that

Believe it or not, interviews were conducted last week for financial analyst candidates...

@WilLayne. Congrats. If I may ask

1. When did you conduct your first interview?

2. Did you have to select a date for the final interview like WE did for the first?

1. 13 days ago

2. Yes

KaceeDcontrol:

Does the mail indicate it is final or is it based on the fact that it is a second round of interview?

Well, unless there has been a recent change, the Second round is usually the final.

Yup but as long as people are passing it, nothing is going to change.

Of course.

Lol. I saw this question and remembered this instantly. In case anyone was wondering, its not wrong. You were given average from June - August with only July-August figures and asked to find June.

This is easy, just like most of the numerical questions. The main bottleneck, other than not using calculator, is test duration. Way too short.

Bros, everyone was asked. It was a structured interview you had. I bet you were also asked geographical preference- Lagos or Eket.

2 weeks and everyone will know what next.

Cheers.

This is definitely the presumption, but I have learnt not to assume. Just trying to get info on average notice periods indicated by other candidates. Indicated 2 months, and I’m hoping that’s not too long.

Hi guys.

For those who had procurement analyst interview, Were you asked about notice periods required by your current employers?

benebaby77:

Wow....

Shame on me keh? Abeg channel your griefs to ICAN, not me.... I am not the one holding your results.

Did I say ICAN holders are knowledgeable than ACCA holders?

Emile Wolf didn't create ACCA syllables, but the study texts. In fact, BPP and Kaplan ACCA study packs are more popular than Emile Wolf's.

Can't sign financial statement without ICAN - really? But I know of one of Big-Four tax partner who holds no ICAN yet he'smember of the Nigerian Taxation Standards Board and Chairman of the Taxation and Fiscal Policy Management Faculty Board of ICAN.

My colonial mentality? Because I asked someone to forget ICAN, and register ACCA.

To ifeoluwa0803,

I will reiterate it again, forget ICAN, and register for ACCA.

ACCA gets international recognition more than ICAN. With ACCA you are easily recognized as chartered accountant in Europe, Asia, Austrila, Africa etc though some countries will require you to register and be licensed before you can be allowed to practice.

With ICAN, you will have to write 5 papers to get ACCA; with ACCA you write 2 papers to get ICAN.

If you're a student of ACCA, the date that your result will be released is known to you; but as a student of ICAN, you have to come to nairaland to read different speculations. You can confirm my assertions here.

With ACCA, you can get MSc in Applied Accounting from UK universities but ICAN can't give you that.

Case study: all the known professional accountancy bodies such as AICPA, CIMA, ICEAW, ACCA and others will send you the case study questions to study few days before the examination. But ICAN will only give you 4 hours on the examination day to study the same questions and write on it.

There are many things that ICAN needs to improve on, but they are not ready for improve.

Note that I am a professional student of ICAN....

You're mostly right. I however hope the Big 4 guy you describe above is not Taiwo Oyedele because if he were, you might be a bit wrong as to him no being an ICAN Chartered accountant.

You can do that as well

I was told the results were not out when I called. If anyone has conflicting information, he/she could go a step further by asking where the results can be viewed.

I'm not lying sir and I don't need to prove it she studied business admin but can wrap her head around FR which to me is the easiest paper to pass in skills, she's in her mid forties now, I cherish her determination though.

Bros, I still no believe oo. The maximum number of years one could use to sit professional exams was 10 years before now. It's even now 5 years for the final level. Unless you included years spent sitting ATSWA.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: PwC Nigeria Graduate Recruitment 2017 by WilLayne: 3:27pm On Jul 05, 2017
Simple truth is both are great places to start ones career especially when one has more of a long term focus. I wanted one of them, and got the one I wanted. I made that decision based on certain criteria. Saying one is better may not necessarily be true. One has to know exactly what he/she wants, and tailor his/her questions or research to finding specific answers.

A senior friend who has worked in 2 of the big 4 firms once told me if you want the ultimate audit experience in Nigeria especially in FSI , go for KPMG. When it comes to Tax and regulatory services, PwC leads the market. Deloitte's stronghold is Corporate Finance.

But from my own perspective, and other information I've been able to garner, I think none of the 2 firms is better than the other in all of the services it renders. Just know what you want.

How can marking still be going on now? meaning its in the next 4 weeks we would see result. Abeg they should be done with marking since

It's a possibility. I believe it took them about 8-9 weeks to release Nov '16 results so we really cannot rule out the possibility that marking is ongoing.

The question now is not when the results will be released, but when the 'council' is going to sit, as we all know that without their 'sitting' there will be no results.

Now for those around ICAN office at VI and Ebutte Metta, any 'sight' of council members??

How are we even sure marking is not ongoing? especially with multiple users making such claim.
