Politics / Re: How Peter Obi Killed APC In The East by Worblo: 12:50pm On Jan 13, 2016 |
You mean street hawkers will have no homes? No brothers, guardian, family they could live with? Is it legal to Street Hawk in Lagos - isn't that an offense in itself? If being destitute was not the case should all SE Nigerians have been shipped to their states. So is it legal for the govt to keep people against their will? Deport? Isn't that a term used to sensationalize the story? Can you be deported within your country? Deport means "expel (a foreigner) from a country, typically on the grounds of illegal status or for having committed a crime." Was the case not taken to court? Was the outcome of the case not in favour of the Lagos State government. I think we should open our minds and not be led by sentiments when sensational stories break. I am yet to hear any sensation of the Akpabio story from the North oooo. Abi they are not Nigerians too? Reyginus: |

I don't agree with this view. We have had several Works Ministers from the SE. Are we saying such ministers were marginalizing their people? APC cannot win the hearts of Igbo. It is born out of believed tribl composition of the APC. With the level of squandering of the common resources of the SE states by their governors have they abandoned PDP? Emphatic NO. Didn't Fashola call the 2nd Niger bridge & Lagos Ibadan as priority? Can they fund it without the budget passed? With all the appointments from the SE in the last dispensation should that not have influenced decisions in favour of the SE? Did that happen? The underlying fundamental here is that it appears the sons of the SE in government have deliberately held the region to ransom and continually pursued personal gratification at the expense of the people. All I wonder is why the people in the region have not held them to ransom and demanded goog governance through the kinds of massive protests we saw for Biafra movement. I am tempted to think the struggle for Biafra by the current proponents is all about the Oil in the Niger-Delta. The SS keep insisting they are not interested in Baiafra but somehow the proponents insist they are by including them in the map. So really, is the struggle about selfish ambition of a few using pure hearted individuals lied to about a course. chuksmad: 1 Like |

Unfortunately, once a position is taken it takes millions of years to correct even when people hear the true version of events. The same way mosques preached against GEJ was the same way churches in the SW, where I stay, prayed in Night Vigils against Buhari. At least we are aware of the Winners issue. CDs were openly printed and handed to members and people along the Otta axis. Funny prayer points were raised in churches. For the Fashola issue, it is norm among the governors to return destitutes to their states of origin for the government to take care of them. Experience in Lagos showed that that have been housed in govt homes usually demanded to be released or taken home. At a point a riot broke out in one of the home for this reason. Fashola explained how he had several times engaged Peter Obi who decided not to act. Even Akpabio was involved in this practice. How come it never got to the news? How come no northern governor made it headlines? Akpabio didn't deny it during the senatorial screening of Fashola. Markets were demolished in Abia and Anambra but we didn't hear the Ohaneze say the governor is enemy of Ndigbo, a governor in the SW does same and it become a "They hate igbo" sing song. I think it simply a mindset. Reyginus: |

Many thanks Chinedu. It beats my wildest imagination that Nigerians still fail to realize holding their leaders accountable is the only way out of their predicament. If I may ask, 1. how much has been spent and squandered by our leaders since 1960? 2. how much has come to the SE & SS, SW & NC, NE & NW since 1999? What do we have to show for it? 3. what have the governors really done since 1999? What have the presidents done? If one has been given little and cannot show progress with the little, even if the world is given to him nothing much will be made of it. I have always wondered why the Igbo votes for Ojukwu was not resounding. Engr. Martins Onovo contested the last elections (a very sound mind full of vision) I didn't see my Igbo brothers file after him. I think we should grow above this ethnic sentiments and unanimously decide to hold our government by the jaws to deliver a good life for the citizenry. The new breed of Biafra clamourers never witnessed a war. It may be the reason for the blind followership for the course. Whether we choose to acknowledge it or not "The Igbo" people are most enterprising people in Nigeria and their successes have built Nigeria to the point of international business recognition. If these clamourers (who we will eventually discover are scammers) channeled energy into grooming greater business men and help advocate for governors to do more in empowering the people it will be a more progressive course. I sure hope my people see through the smoke screen. |
