Career / Help! My Colleague Is Never On Sit During Working Hours, What Should I Do?!! by wowgist: 12:57pm On Mar 30, 2017
I love my job, my Boss and my colleagues. As an Accountant, our job requires that we sit long hours on our computers updating the Companies expenditure and asset database. however, there is a challenge.

My department colleague is hardly on sit during working hours. he loves to leave to chat, socialize and even do personal runs during work. I have tried to help him severally by discussing (one-on-one) as par 'man to man', but no effect. He is simple and very intelligent but not focused because he is to playful. This has affected our department's output severally, as personally I discussed this matter with the HR, my own Boss and other familiar Bosses, but all seem not to be too concerned. They just sympathize. I love my work, we are well paid and really doing well as a company.

Please kindly advice me on what to do

Religion / Eliminate Stress And Fill Your Life With God's Best by wowgist: 6:18pm On Mar 16, 2017
Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.…
—John 14:27

Nothing harms us emotionally the way stress does. We might say that anxiety is emotions out of control. When someone experiences anxiety, most of the time it's because their emotions have been stressed to the point that they are no longer functioning healthily. There are many situations that cause anxiety. The death of a spouse or child, divorce, and job loss are major events; however, not all the reasons are that serious. A lot of anxiety is caused simply by taking on more than we can handle.

I used to feel constantly overwhelmed due to stress, but it was because my schedule was unreasonable. And—even worse—I thought I was doing it for God. It is amazing to me now when I look back at how deceived I was. Always remember that if Satan cannot get you to not work for God, then he will try to get you to overwork for God. He really doesn't care which end of being out of balance we are on, because either one causes trouble.

The simple answer to living a life you can enjoy is to learn God's ways and follow them. Jesus said, "I am the Way" (see John 14:6), and that means He will show us how to live properly. The answers we need are in God's Word, and we should make a decision that we will not only read the Bible, but we will obey it. If we refuse to make that decision and follow through, we will keep feeling stressed until we break.

Start asking God what you can eliminate from your life that is not producing good fruit. It may even be some good things that are just not the best things for you. Something can be right for us in one season of our lives and not right at all in another season. Follow your heart, and you will accomplish a lot of fruitful things and still have energy left over to enjoy the fruit of your labor.

Trust in Him: What seemingly good things are crowding your life and keeping you from God's best? Decide that you will simplify your life and live with peace, not stress. Trust that God wants you to have the time to enjoy your life.

TV/Movies / Big Brother Naija 2017, Africans, What Is Going On?!! by wowgist: 7:07pm On Mar 13, 2017
Why are African promoting nudity and stupidity? Rubbish! Locking up 12 adults or more in a house playing, eating and drinking in the name of having fun or game, and then rewarding them with N25 million naira (as at 2017)... called BIG BROTHER NAIJA show. While, the best students in School competition gets a pack of Indomie or Cowbell miik if lucky...

What kind of unworthy game is this?! How did we get here? Why do we not promote Educative programmes, rather nudity? It is time for us to stop and focus on our next generation please. Let us not be carried away by fun - this is dangerous.

Big brother Naija is not a good game to be part of, it is against our culture as Nigerians and unfortunately sponsored by Elites. What is going on!!!

You are right... Completing tasks on time is very mandatory. My last web project wasn't delivered on time, because the the company requested for something that was different from what we pitched.

You wont imagine how my line manager gave me straight-faces for days before I completed the project.

Hmm... I can imagine.

Jobs/Vacancies / 11 Ways To Earn Respect At Work / Office by wowgist: 9:21am On Mar 10, 2017
1. Display self-confidence.

Show co-workers your passion for company goals and encourage others to do the same. Maintain your individual identity by not allowing the job to consume you. Your employer must realize that you choose to work for them. Do not let the fear of losing your job hinder your performance.

Have a backup plan in place if you are ever laid off. Always have options. This will give you the confidence and flexibility to be a visionary. Maintain a level of practically and adjust goals as needed.

2. Strive to complete each task and assignment on time.
This will demonstrate to both your supervisors and subordinates that you are a responsible person who keeps their word. This also helps others trust you and shows your have a high level of accountability. If you are given a deadline that is unreasonable, tactfully find a way to convey this information to the individual who set the deadline.

3. Show humility.
Be willing to admit your flaws, but do not focus on them. You should have some self-depreciation, but it should be paired with self-confidence. People generally will not respect a leader who appears insecure and continuously mentions their shortcomings.

Show your human side but maintain a sense of bravado and self-assurance.

4. Have patience with others.
Realize that co-workers each have their individual levels of learning and adapt to new tasks and job assignments accordingly. Praise others as they master each step of their new assignments. Having patience with others will demonstrate you have confidence in co-workers and believe they can expand their knowledge and skills. People are most likely to respect those who treat well and will not fear approaching them with problems or questions.

5. Respect co-workers even if you don't like them.
Despite not always seeing eye-eye with co-workers, you still must show professional respect to everyone you encounter during the course of the workday. Things change rapidly in the corporate world. Someone who is your subordinate may someday become your supervisor. Or a co-worker may join another company and become one of your future clients.

6. Don't repeat workplace gossip.
While it may be tempting to listen and repeat the latest office gossip, doing so will give the impression that you are not to be trusted with confidential information. It also gives the impression that you enjoy discussing the misfortunes of others. That is not a good way to earn respect.

7. Be inclusive.
Tell employees about changes in the organization and what impact it may have on all involved. Encourage employees to ask questions and stay informed about what is happening within the company. One simple way to accomplish is to publish an office newsletter.

8. Workers enjoy being praised.
This enhances their confidence in their skills. It may encourage them to work harder and learn new tasks and skills. If you must give criticism, combine it with praise for what the employee does well. If something does go wrong, do not publicly blame anyone else. If addressing a group, explain the problem and what steps are being taken to prevent future occurrences.

9. Share knowledge with co-workers.
This action demonstrates that you have confidence in their abilities to handle new situations and that you respect them enough to share this important information. As you seek knowledge, you must also learn the value of communal learning.

This will help you form a team mentality in the workplace and include others in your success. Respected people are seldom loners on the road to success. They include others along their journey and make it known that everyone has a role in the success of the company.

10. Be neat and organized.
An active workplace is indicative of a hard-working individual but a disorganized workplace leaves the impression that you have no regard for the image of the company. Your clothing should also reflect the idea that you value your professional image. Dress each day as if you are going to ask for a raise.

11. Always be professional, even at office parties.
The final word of advice to those who seek respect in the workplace is not to get drunk at company social functions. Although an event may be held off company premises, it is still a work-related event and it isn’t be professional to act rudely or say something inappropriate.

While your private life is your own business, you have to maintain your reputation at work by not over-indulging at social functions. If a co-worker gets intoxicated at an office party, be discrete and do not mention the incident in the following days.

Nairaland / General / If you have a dream to be a Hero, then go and help a hero by wowgist: 5:54am On Mar 04, 2017
There is no two way about this – simply refuse to hoard things. Giving is like a tennis game, if you serve two balls you will get at least two in return. The least in return is what you gave. There is no loosing in your giving. Don’t bother praying to give more, first give what you have now. John Mason said, “If you have, give. If you lack, give.”

If you have a dream to be a Hero, then go and help a hero. Contribution is to have, while, keeping is to lose.

Giving is the practice that makes one prosper; not in the asking (prayer). Breathe is proof that you possess something. Those who don’t have, have something. Eleanor Roosevelt said, “When you cease to make a contribution, you begin to die”. Money, though a degree of prosperity is not the only thing that can be given. For real, money is the lowest form of power that exists on earth. “You can have all the money in the world and still be poverty-stricken spiritually, mentally and physically.” said Kenneth Copeland.

The universal law of increase – “Give more when you desire more”. Distribution of one’s possession is not easy but it pays off. There are people who don’t know how to help, give or pray for other people. All they know is theirs don’t be like them. “Give and you shall be given”. (The Bible, Mat. 7: 7). Scatter and you shall receive. It is a principle.
Mahatma Gandhi added, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”

“Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we give.” – Ben Carson.
