Politics / Re: Yoruba As Official Language Of Lagos House Of Assembly! by xkape(m): 5:40pm On Dec 05, 2007
Yoruba in Assembly.

Thats just completely ridiculous. This is why we should improson everybody that has been involved in politics in Nigeria for the past 40 years.

Totally brainless people. How many of them can even speak and write Yoruba properly?

The rst of the world is moving toward Engish as a universal language, not because of any political push, but because of the natural evolution of the Internet as the universal means of communication. We that are lucky enough to have english as our second Language want to retrogress by adopting a minority language.

Why wont people accept that change is inevitable and culture is dynamic? Speaking english is as much a part of modern Nigerian "culture" as anything. Why dont they just tell the police to stop wearing "oyinbo" uniforms and start wearing traditional hunters dress with juju attached to it. Why dont they just outlaw the wearing of suits and jeans and shirts and make everybody wear agbada and danshiki.

The Imbecility of some Nigerians is just outstanding

And people like Ono, must you bring your Niger-delta sentiments into every discussion. You are just as guilty of the same xenophobia and discrimination that you blame everybody else for.

Education / Re: Who Are The Most Educated Nigerians? by xkape(m): 6:12pm On Jan 25, 2007
This thread is based on a ridiculuous premise.

Whos tribe is more educated?

Whos father has the longest d*** ?

How do these questions put food on your table?

Do people get some sort of validation of themselves from inconsequential tribal arguments? Or are they just compensating for some unwaranted feeling of tribal inadequacy. [s](wetin be all dis grammar wey i dey talk sef. I don dey mumu o)[/s]

@arzorjiu
In case it was all lost on u. the jibes about "thinkin like us" and Soyinka etc was made "tounge in cheek". Do not take too seriously
Education / Re: Who Are The Most Educated Nigerians? by xkape(m): 10:22am On Jan 23, 2007
Donzman:

Yeah, it's a good development to start thinking like Obasanjo or Fredrick Fasheun.

No Donzman, more like Wole Soyinka, the Kutis and countless other in banking academia business etc. U fill in the gaps.

By the way, Obasanjo is a slowpoke
Education / Re: Who Are The Most Educated Nigerians? by xkape(m): 8:51pm On Jan 22, 2007
It was inevitable this thread would degenerate into a Yoruba vs Igbo pissing contest.

And the usual suspects are all accounted for

To people like xtycod- why do u guys try so hard to extol the virtues of ur ethnic nationality by bashing others? It just diminishes any credibility ur argument has and smirks of some sort of over-compensation. You always give the impression u r trying very hard to measure up to somebody else

And to all the Yorubas out there. I know u all grew up with the hubris of being the most educated in Nigeria. But it only seems that way from your town in Igboho somewhere. Its not really so in the outside world . We only seem more educated because of our large numbers. The rest of the country (especially the east) is just as educated now, if not more.

And this is a very good development cos now maybe everybody will start thinking at our level grin

Foreign Affairs / Re: Should George Bush Also Face Trial? by xkape(m): 2:11pm On Nov 19, 2006
Why do u all want to crucify the Longhorn guy

Firstly we must all put things in perspective and not be carried away by the propaganda on Fox News or Aljazeera (as the case may be)

Bush is a royal bufoon, and if the world was fair he should be tried for incompetence, starting a war on false pretexts and many other things

But, the thing that truely astounds me is the total inability of some people, especially some of a certain religion to look at the whole issue objectively.

True, Bush started a war on false premises, but he did not order marines to rape Iraqis, the people who did this have been tried. Let us seperate the issues. I also fail to see how Bush is responsible for the fraticidal sunni/shiite war in Iraq. These are people that would destroy their own country and kill women and children in marketplaces just to prove a point. The US totally miscalculated the Iraq mission. They did not legislate for the amount of senseless hate that religion could generate.
Al-queda is willing to destroy Iraq and every single Iraqi to fight the Americans. They are willing o take hundreds of innocent MUSLIM lives everyday to oppose America. When I seee muslims elsewhere in the world give unilateral support to Saddam, Alqaeda and all the insurgents in Iraq, I tremble becos it means that if America was to invade Nigeria tommorow under whatever pretence, some of our muslim brothers would be willing to blow us up at Oshodi market everyday to drive the Infidel Imperialistic Neo-Crusader American Abomination out

It is also mind-blowing to imagine that some people would say that Saddam does not deserve to die after all he did to his people. If u were a kurd in Iraq at the time of the chemical bombing i am sure u would not be saying this. That bush probably deserves to die as well is a totally seperate issue. One does not preclude the other

OOOOOOOOOOhhhh NUTTER, NOT AGAIN undecided

Dearest Nutter

Pls, we know how u feel about splitting the country, but lets stick to the topic.

Besides there is hardly anybody here who can match ur argumentative skills

Question is, what would u do to improve Nigeria

My Anwer

1. Spend the first 6 months sucking up to the powers that be and secretly build a death-squad that would make the Gestapo look like boys scouts

2. Spend the next 1 week rounding up every one that has ever held political post or office in a public firm like Nepa. Conduct trials for however long it takes

3. Construct a 1000 acre concentration camp somewhere in the Savannah, guarded by the equivalent of 3 army divisions drawn from all over the country. This camp will revolutionalize how people think of prison. Wide open space with wire fence and guard towers

There will be several sections; farming comunities where u will be allowed to eat only what u produce with a remittance to the government. u can even bring ur family. High level prisoners will be re-educated chinese style. Some-one like Babangida would be stripped of all assets and made to learn a trade like carpentry. If he doesnt work, he doesnt eat

Area boy problem solved permmanently, as loiterers are rounded up from streets straight to the camp where they start planting cassava or something useful

4. Round table conference of all parties

5. Resource control. units will agree on a percentage they want to give to the center

6. Decentralised government, a loose federation with major regions having a veto on national decisions

7. Army shall be representative of the population, even if we have to force-draft people

8. Seperation of religion and state. No more religious posturing in public activities

9. Fast track of developmental projects in underdeveloped areas. Contract deadlines come with threat of imprisonment in said camp

10. Nuclear and Space program for power wink not weapons (yea right)

11. Pick a fight with America over oil, send oil price up, settle said fight and profit from it before they invade us

12. Ban the Chinese, Lebanese and all such -ese grin grin grin

13. Copy Brazilian model of ethanol as fuel: more money for cassava farmers, more work for the jobless, more work for engine-conversion firms, less pressure on refineries etc etc

14. Prop up bitumen export to its full potential a

15. Invite foreign investment into all sectors as long as there is a strict local content rule. Petrochemical plants especially. This is where the real money from petroleum is.

Thats enough for now
Politics / Re: IBB: June 12 Was Cancelled, Not Annulled? by xkape(m): 3:42pm On Sep 24, 2006
Annuled implyies nullification, null and void, as if the elections never occured and hence the result of no consequence.

Cancelled implies that, even though the election produced results, the results were disregarded or discarded for whatever reason.
Religion / Re: Papal Apology Request! by xkape(m): 4:49pm On Sep 22, 2006
Yea, we all remember Yugoslavia.

And unless one is ignorant or just intentionally deluded , one would remeber also that hundreds of people have been tried and convicted for war crimes on Muslims there by those Al-quaeda and Co refer to as christian governments

It is unfortunate that you see the world in black and white

@Xkape: I think you should be able to say a thought provoking statement. However your language must be decent and fairness of manner must be applied. I will not fault a man/woman who is not subjective from the onset of a dialogue. Unlike other religions, there is no ambiguity in Islam. God Himself have provided all guidelines. He has allowed His Messenger a full explanation, sufficient to guide and shape every individual, from birth to grave.

Was that a reply?

Incredible!!! You didnt even bother to address any question I raised. *shakes his head and walks out*
Music/Radio / Re: Any Fans Of Rock Music On Nairaland? by xkape(m): 7:29pm On Sep 20, 2006

U r the one suffering from a classic freudian inferiority complex. The only reason why u oppose "white music" so much is cos u r feel so deeply inferior that you cant even openly appreciate anything good associated with ur object of adoration.
By the way, Little Richard was the originator of Rock and Roll. And it doesnt realy matter who plays the music, even if they were blue, as long as it rocks!!
I am sure u r one of those pple that listen to mentally challenged pple like 50cents cos they r black

Let me put it like this
I think the Pope is not even a christian and the papacy is a heresy. This is my opinion. I can express this opinion even though some of my best friends are catholics. I have nothing to fear from them but a hot argument about the bible.
However I have a lot of things I could say about Islam from the point of view of someone aquainted with Islam (Islamic extended family) but I wont say the becos of the clear and present danger i could face from friends and even family
Think about this and wonder why people associate muslims with violence
