Politics / Re: Court Restricts Protests In Lagos To Freedom, Peace Park by xklucv: 9:01pm On Jul 30
No one man is above the law and no one man has monopoly of violence. Protest anywhere is a constitutional right of every citizen of The Federal Republic of Nigeria and no one has the right to stop or harm any peaceful protester. Don't put the law into your hands.
LegendHero:
Good one.

Now police should just back off and leave men with any protester that will flout this order.

If your aim is peaceful protest, go to those parks, converge, carry your placard, and go back home.

If we see you anywhere else, Wetin your eyes see, make you accept am that way.

God bless Lagos

Politics / Re: Protest: Organisers Reject IGP’s Proposal For Confined Protest by xklucv: 8:44pm On Jul 30
The protest will likely be disrupted in Lagos by thugs threatening the protest and this will turn a peaceful protest chaotic/violent.
The police should watch out for this disgruntled elements.

Politics / Re: FG Suspends Import Duties, Taxes On Essential Food Items To Address Hunger by xklucv: 1:47pm On Jul 30
This is more like subsidising basic food import.
Food import will fritter away the country's FX.
Subsidise fuel and watch the prices of all other items come down, it will help stabilise the unstable local currency and boost its purchasing power

Wrong move.
Man shall not live by bread alone
Bring down the cost of fuel by same percentage and watch the price of every product come down naturally.

Man shall not live by bread alone!
Salewa97:
This is indeed a proactive step by the Federal Government to address the rising cost of living. Selling 50kg rice at N40,000 is a commendable move that will undoubtedly provide relief to many households struggling with food inflation.

It's essential to recognize that the FG is taking tangible actions to cushion the effects of economic challenges faced by Nigerians. This initiative can help stabilize the market and ensure that essential commodities remain accessible to the average citizen.

Let’s also acknowledge the effort to manage resources effectively. If this plan is executed well, it could set a precedent for future interventions aimed at alleviating poverty and ensuring food security across the nation.

Kudos to the administration for this timely intervention!

Salewa97:
Hunger protest in Niger State? This is just another avenue for chaos.

When will we learn that protesting without a solid plan only leads to more suffering? Instead of channeling energy into destructive demonstrations, why not engage with the government and demand real change? Protests that turn violent only exacerbate the problem and put innocent lives at risk.

Nigerians should be wise enough to see that protests without purpose are a waste of time. Hunger isn't solved in the streets; it's solved in the boardrooms and through policies that uplift the people. Let's focus on constructive dialogue rather than chaos.
But they are peacefully protesting, I haven't seen any sign of chaos.
Are you wishing it turns chaotic? Is it wrong to cry out that there's starvation?
I am hungry and my money can no longer get me what I could easily afford before now and the reason is as a result of the policies of the govt.
If I don't cry out what should I do? Stay quiet and die silent?

Yeah, things getting better at your end. But things have become so bad at the masses ends. We don't have pipeline protection contract, we earn 30k a month, a tuber of yam is 10k, garri 4k, beans 7k.
Don't just tell us not to cry out. Help us with what you can, give us food while we shelve the cry and wait for the President.

I expect ECWA to set up a kitchen for the hungry. This act will dissuade a lot of the hungry (protesters) from embarking on the the so called planned protest.

What should a hungry man do if not to cry of hungar.
You inflicting injuries on a man and threatening him not to cry out.
You hold the pill to alleviate/relief a man of his ailment and tell him not demand for the elixir.
It's evil and Satanic.
Put yourself in their situation.
