Dogalmighty17:

In effect and assuming your calculations are correct, the edo refinery can barely fill two trucks of 60k litres capacity daily. They are a non player.

It's a modular refinery, so it's allowed... Imagine how many modular refineries will be set up in Edo State if this one strives... Picture Edo with 10 of such refineries, then you'll realise it can have an effect

Then, imagine people setting up such in other southsouth states... You don't need to build a dangote-sized refinery to make an impart, several of these refineries you call "non-players) will make a significant impact
Politics / Re: Edo Refinery Laments NNPCl’s Failure To Supply Crude Oil For Production by Yampotatocarrot(m): 5:15am On Aug 12
Moblux:
One barrel of crude oil produces approximately 159 liters. From this, about 45% is converted into gasoline (PMS) and around 30% into diesel (AGO) .
Calculating for 1,000 barrels:
Total liters:
1,000 ×159
=159,000
1,000×159=159,000 liters
Gasoline (PMS):
159,000×0.45≈71,550
159,000×0.45≈71,550 liters per day

Diesel (AGO):
159,000×0.30≈47,700
159,000×0.30≈47,700 liters
Thus, from 1,000 barrels of crude oil, approximately 71,550 liters of PMS and 47,700 liters of AGO can be produced daily.

This alone will even reduce the price of petrol and diesel greatly in Edo State... I won't be surprised if transport companies start using Edo as their state for buying full tank, which will further develop the economy of the state and closeby local governments like Ore in Ondo state

I remember my years in Deeper life growing up.

We would go for a 4-day "retreat" as it was called.

The high point of every retreat was the free meals served twice daily and the chance to explore.

Nothing has really changed, just a cycle that has kept us backwards as a country.

Religion is fvcking beautiful Africa up.

If you travel to China, U.A.E or North America, you will see the difference in quality of life.

They don't do religion the way Africa does

We waste too much time of things that has never moved us forward as a people.

Christianity and Islam are not our original religion as a race and people.

Why dump your toy because you were told the other child's own is more beautiful? It's all about mindset and I can tell you for free, Africans do not have a mind of their own.

Think about slave trade. Why was Africa the only continent that sold their brothers?

Until we stop wasting precious time doing religion instead of working, we go no where as a people.

Make God sha help Africa

They still do and it's three meals per day, not two... Completely free... You eat at a spot, change location and eat again

DrAda:
She had a valid reason. Besides all appointments were voluntary.

Catering to the needs and welfare of 42,000 students in 110 departments is no joke. I would have appointed more.

If you use this your calculation, that means 1 aide will be for 840 students

Let's bring it to Nigeria with a population of over 200million citizens. If we are conservative enough to say 200million, it means President Tinubu alone should have about 238,000 aides... Well, he can also say it's voluntary and no salary attached, lol

Like we say in Nigeria, government is a continuum. If Rochas Okorocha had built quality projects, Hope Uzodinma, regardless of how bad he is, would've focused on other areas.

Today, he's building things as basic as roads, including those Rochas Okorocha claimed he constructed. These are pictures of roads Hope Uzodinma completed recently.

The 2.7km Toronto/Ekemegbuoha road and the 8.4km Toronto/Orji road.

Problem is,how are we sure the roads he's constructing are solid ... So that the next governor doesn't start constructing roads again

As you said, if one governor could have constructed good roads, then the next would have focused on maybe improving the economy of the state, then the next education and health... Rather than repeating what the previous government did

maclatunji:

A good percentage of what is called 'Abakaliki' rice comes from Cross River. They both share boundaries across some local governments.

Waoh, that's nice, never knew that... Meaning Cross River might even have more advantage in rice production than Abakaliki, and buying from there might be cheaper... If only they're able to process their rice fully rather than moving it to Abakaliki for processing... State is 98% a civil service state

I have a fair knowledge of Cross River state and what you say is true. However, the challenge an investor might face is that locals tend to be proud and heady. A small disagreement could lead you to losses. It is not by accident that investment in this regard has not happened sufficiently in the state.

People need to change their mindset and know that they don't need to be forceful to be respected and if you don't stop hugging what you have, you might not get maximal value from it.

I think this makes sense, because if paddy rice is as much and as cheap as OP stated, it begs the question why no one is setting up destoning plants there...why take the extra cost of moving it to Abakaliki

I have to go to the rice mill at Abakaliki to buy my rice, never even knew Cross River has rice...

FCT Police commissioner and Lawyer Deji Adeyanju trade words over the court order restricting the protest convergence to the MKO Abiola stadium

While the police Commissioner insists the protesters move into the stadium to hold the protest as they were disrupting traffic by converging outside fhe stadium, Deji argued that the court order only stated that the protest be restricted to the stadium and was not explicit on whether they should gather inside or outside the stadium.

Called customer care with another number and told the lady I have previously linked and gotten a confirmation to that effect, she just apologised for the inconvenience and asked me to go to a walk-in centre and link it again...

I want to believe this also affected those working in MTN office who have previously linked their SIM, lol

I think this may be the way to go for him, because the way NNPC is now buying filling stations eh... Gone are the days NNPC filling stations are scantily located, now filling stations are being bought and rebranded to NNPC, you go see about 3 NNPC stations in a stretch of 40minutes

Dangote needs to start thinking ahead, else if they don't sabotage his production, they'll wait for him at the retail end

nairalanda1:

I always like the idea of scrapping NYSC...however, if we do that

1.Iliteracy levels in the rural areas will rise high...because not enough teachers in the schools.

2. Health care would get more worse, not enough doctors and nurses.

3.More people would migrate to the cities...more pressure on urban facilites.

Unless you have a plan whereby you can attract professionals to work in rural areas for at least ten years, NYSC Has to stay.

Is it that people don't want to work or corp members are just dirt-cheap alternatives?

Most schools corp members are posted to are state government schools... Let the state government employ teachers, doctors and nurses to fill the void, they can even pay more to those willing to work in rural areas...

It's better than using corp members who most times don't even take it serious, just use the one year to wile away their time and fornicate (apologies to those who didn't do such) while collecting monthly allowance from government

professorPABX:

Let us start with the $100 million paid for the land first before discussion on wether the land is cheap or not. Remember, Dangote Refinery carried out sandfilling to recover more land. Lagos State Government should explain to us about this money. The ELEMORO FAMILY of IBEJU Land and other families in Ibeju land should ask questions about developmental projects executed for the people from this money. Senator Gbenga Bareehu Ashafa should explain to IBEJU people the deals that transpired before the Land was sold to Dangote. IBEJU youths and generations unborn will still ask questions.

For the families not to have spoken out all these years, I believe they or better still, the elders involved have been adequately "settled"... Whether that money flowed down the family tree is now strictly a family issue, and has nothing to do with the Dangote or even the state government

The youths should rather ask questions from their elders, not from the government... Don't be surprised if the money shared actually went round, no matter how small each family got, and was spent on frivolities

At the end, NNPC share may become 2% as Tinubu, Cardoso and Edun can never play ball as it was under Buhari:

but if it becomes 2%, we have been shortchanged be dat. it was supposed to be 20%. $100 million for the land is too cheap. that means dangote owns 7 times the size of VI. all to one man!

It's not about it being 7times the size of VI, it's about the location... Ibeju Lekki before Dangote was just a swamp, so price of land there was very very cheap... If he had gone with his initial plan to site it in Ogun/Ondo State, it would have even been cheaper than that

You can't compare the price of land in Ikorodu to that in VI... The money to buy one plot in VI might buy an acre in Ikorodu, and maybe a hectare inside Ondo state
