Did anybody notice that Abati is stylishly justifying SR reports by not giving us the exact number.
Mr Abati, pls give us the total number nah.
Wether you the boot lickers like it or not, Saharareporters' success far more outweigh their failures if any. During the days of Yaradua, they always get his itinerary right to the extent that the State house staff were compelled to swear an oath of secrecy. We need more of such for this kind of Nigerian government even to the level of local government.

Family / Genotype Test Splits My Family. by YarisMan(m): 4:59pm On Jan 03, 2013
I checked the genotype of my acclaimed son two good times in highly reputable laboratories, the result is always AS while repeated check of mine and his mother was AA. An attempt to do DNA test proved abortive 'cos of the cost. Also i feel it's a waste of resources 'cos many experts said it was not possible for an AS to come from two confirmed AA. The boy's facial resemblance was 90% that of the mother. I love the boy but when i think of all these, i feel bad: as if i'm wasting my time with a family that will soon split up. It happened(separation) at last in some few months ago. I never told anybody about the test result but she broadcast it by herself, and she intentionally packed her load out of my house. What do you think i should do concerning the child as i still love the boy?

@Marvix, Beaf is going to disappoint you if you dare team up with him in any area.
FYI, he had two posts today only on Aregbesola. in fact it seems he had decided to concentrate his criticism on Aregbesola these days. Gov. Uduaghan is messing up in Beaf's state, he will never say or post anything about him solely 'cos he's a PDP man. I'm sure Beaf is been paid for all these mediocrity and bias. Politics / Re: GEJ's Personal Experience On National Railway Corporation (NLC) Transit Train by YarisMan(m): 1:02pm On Oct 04, 2011
Beaf:

I find these two posts to be quite educative and mature.

It would appear from what you are saying that the railway system is a viable form of transportation for people and goods. Its much cheaper, could also be much faster, but the sector still needs a lot of love and attention.

We should really sit on govt to deliver a functioning railway, to that end I believe GEJ's request for info on our experiences is quite encouraging. All modern countries have functional rail systems, in fact rail is always the transportation backbone, followed by road and air (our airports are way too few too).
We haul everything by road and our worst roads tend to carry the heaviest duty traffic, so its no surprise that our road network is wretched; years of corruption, poor planning and absence of application have taken their horrible toll. The greatest example is the Benin - Lagos road that is swamped by heavy timber trucks; such cargo should really not be on our roads, stressing the life out of them; it is much cheaper and efficient to transport heavy goods by rail or water.

I hear some folk here calling for roads to be fixed first; I say fixing roads and building a befitting rail system can happen side by side. In cities like Seoul, London, indeed the entire developed World, rail travel is the backbone of transportation and is always cheaper and more enjoyable than going by road. Why is Nigeria different? Why do we like to fight the natural paths to progress?

You are not sincere at all!!
Your tone is soft here 'cos GEJ issue is being discussed, if it were to be other people like Govnor Aregbesola in Osun State, you 'll be spinning rubbish. Learn to be honest even with yourself.

Ibrahim Babangida visited a school to campaign.

The excited kids wanted to ask him questions and he obliged them.

Dayo stood up and said "Mr. President, I have three questions":

1. who killed Dele Giwa?
2. Why did you annul the June 12 Election?
3. Who frustrated the judicial processes and why was Gani Fawehinmi not allowed to try your security chiefs for the murder of Dele Giwa based on the evidence he had?

Before Babangida could answer, the recess bell rang, and the kids went on break. When they came back the session continued.

Musa got up and said "Mr. President, I have five questions for you?"

1. Who killed Dele Giwa?
2. Why did you annul the June 12 Election?
3. Who frustrated the judicial processes and why was Gani Fawehinmi not allowed to try your security chiefs for the murder of Dele Giwa based on the evidence he had?
4. Why did the recess bell ring one hour early?
5. Where's Dayo

I do not support any kind of insult but Bankole has been a disappointment. The sad thing is he will live long to see the ramification of his weakness, cowardly approach to national issue. One must however agree that he is in a difficult situation created by OBJ with Yaadua election. Traditional fathers like Olubuse, Alafin also run to the north against each other. Politics / And Ribadu Escaped Again! by YarisMan(m): 5:08pm On Sep 11, 2009
This man seems to understand the weakness of Nigerian security system. grin grin grin

Read this:

Following Mallam Nuhu Ribadu’s unannounced appearance at the Ikeja GRA residence of the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi yesterday, P.M.News gathered that security agents have made frantic efforts to locate his whereabouts in Lagos and Abuja to arrest him.

Ribadu had earlier been declared wanted by the Code of Conduct Bureau over alleged false assets declaration.

The former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who was sent on course at the Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, was later demoted from Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) to Assistant Commissioner of Police and subsequently dismissed by the police authorities for insurbordination.

The manhunt for Ribadu, P.M.News gathered, took the security agents to Fawehinmi’s residence in Lagos and later to some other places.

The police, Immigration Service and State Security Service (SSS) personnel at the airport and land borders have been directed to spread their dragnet and arrest Ribadu.

Top security operatives were said to have made discreet phone calls to some friends and relations of Ribadu to know his whereabouts. These calls, P.M.News gathered, did not yield any positive result.

Unknown to the security agents, the man they were looking for had sneaked out of the country again, using the same route he used in coming.

P.M.News gathered that when Ribadu suddenly appeared in a flowing white gown at the Fawehinmi residence yesterday evening, the few people around the house and Gani’s children could not recognise him until someone told them that was Nuhu Ribadu.

Ribadu, P.M.News learnt, spent about 30 minutes with the family of Fawehinmi and later requested the family to take him to the private morgue at LASUTH to see the corpse of the late human rights activist.

He was obliged. At the morgue, Ribadu reportedly touched Gani’s hand, legs and head and spoke some words. For about 16 minutes, he stood transfixed looking at the corpse.

In the condolence register he signed at the Fawehinmi residence, Ribadu said: “I have lost a father, a friend and a mentor; but I am grateful to God for having a very inspiring relationship with Chief.

“He helped to shape my life; he made me to believe in the truth and I just have to have the courage to stand by these ideals. May his kind soul rest in peace, God will be kind to Gani because he was a kind and good man.”

P.M.News gathered that Ribadu had earlier sent a condolence message which was used in Nigerian newspapers. Part of it read: “I regret that I am unable to be with his bereaved family and my fellow mourning Nigerians at his janazah. I pray to the Almighty Allah to grant this honourable man aljana.”

Many believed he used this as a decoy to put security operatives off his trail when he would come to pay his last respects to the man he described as his “father and mentor”.

Ribadu fled the country after alleging assassination attempt on his life.

He is currently a senior fellow in St. Anthony’s College, Oxford University, UK.

Justice Minister and Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Michael Aondoakaa (SAN) has faulted the warrant of arrest issued against the Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to President Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua, Mr. David Edevbie and Chief James Ibori, former Delta State governor by the London Metropolitan Police over alleged money laundering and corrupt offences emanating from the $38 million Virgin Mobile shares acquisition.

Besides, the Federal Attorney General said he would not release any Nigerian for prosecution in any foreign country on offences whose ingredients are domiciled in Nigeria.
“As the Attorney General of Federation, I will not release any Nigerian to a foreign government for prosecution on offences whose ingredients are domicile in the country.

“There is no where in the world that if I do a transaction in Nigeria, let’s says I sold my shares in Nigeria, that the issue will now become a matter of adjudication in another country. We must try to protect the country from people who are trying to get international recognition for nothing by telling blatant lies,” he declared.
Three former state governors, Chief James Ibori of Delta, Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Chief Victor Ubong Attah of Akwa Ibom states respectively were accused of money laundering in the Vmobile shares transaction.

The justice minister who was responding to the issue on Thursday faulted the warrant of arrest issued against Edevbie  on the grounds that he did not sign the African Development Funds Incorporated (ADFI) agreement, which has become the fulcrum of the criminal charges against them.
The action of the Metropolitan Police followed a deposition made by former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu before a London court.

But Aondoakaa said Ribadu’s deposition was targeted at rubbishing the administration of President Yar’Adua and to portray the Federal Government as not serious in the fight against corruption.
In the said affidavit deposed to by him, Ribadu informed the London court that it was the Principal Private Secretary to the President, Mr. Edevbie David,   who signed the ADFI agreement, conniving with former governors Victor Attah, Ibori and Tinubu to commit money laundering offences in the Vmobile shares.
The Attorney General, while debunking the claim, presented the letters contained in the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT), which he received from London to the newsmen to confirm that the PPS was not a signatory to the document.

In the relevant documents, two persons and not Edevbie signed the said agreement. They are Dr. S. O. Okpokpor, Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Finance and Reginald Bayoko, a civil servant.
The chief law officer of the country disclosed  that he received request for Mutual Legal Assistance from the British Government  on the  ex-governors James Ibori, Victor Attah and Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the 38 million dollars  Virgin Mobile  shares acquisition in the Vmobile, later Celtel  now Zain  telecommunication company on June 22, 2009. The request prompted him to ask EFCC for details of the matter.

“I wrote to Access Bank to tell me the position of things directly and I got a reply from Access Bank. The reply is that yes, there was a letter from EFCC ,  at the first instance, asking them to stay action on this  account but later on, the same EFCC wrote them  in January 2009 asking them to resume normal banking transactions,” the AGF said.

The EFCC letter with reference number CR: 3000/EFCC /ABJ/ASO /EG/VOL.8/146 which Access Bank said it acted on reads : “In view of the above, you are kindly requested to remove the caution that was placed on the account and allow normal transactions on the account.”

He said when the EFCC and Access Bank sent him the letters he forwarded them to the British Governme nt and it appeared that when Ribadu left the office, he did not know that investigations into the matter was on-going and later concluded. He said Victor Attah took the Federal Government to court for maligning his name and the matter was settled out of court with the payment of N25 million damage.

Aondoaaka said he had not entered nolle prosequi since he assumed office except that of Henry Okah which, he said, was meant to facilitate the amnesty granted the militants. “I challenged anybody to show one single case where I stopped prosecution of any of the accused persons standing trial,” he stated.
On Halliburton case, the minister said the money approved for the Inspector General of Police-led investigation committee had been given to the committee contrary to publication that it was being withheld by his office.

He said the committee’s work was being delayed by France and New Zealand’s request to translate Nigeria’s request in English into French Language. The minister maintained that Nigeria’s request on same issue before the United States of America was receiving attention.

“The U.S said they are carrying on their own investigation.”
