Career / Re: Setting Up Law Firm In Nigeria by yomzy0030: 5:06pm On Jul 19, 2012
I completely concur with position that before you can own or practice as a solicitor in Nigeria, you need to be enrolled in the supreme court. Any solicitor that carries on with a person that is not on the roll is liable to be punished and you may be guilty of impersonation. Goodluck to you if you've been called. Assuming that you've been called, the next thing to ponder on is our to get clients who will pay your bill. Believe me, you don't want to provide the funds and rely on your partner's client and expertise to build your firm. With a cunning partner, you may be heading for the rock when there is a rift between the two (or more) of you. You will wake up to see that you have the office but the briefs are all flying in the wind to a new office where your erstwhile partner now occupies.Be careful because I have seen a lot of firms end up in courts and arbitration.
