Advice for first timers:


1. Screenshot every page of your DS160 form when filling it , so you don't forget what you filled later and you can use it to practice.

2. Watch YouTube videos for tips and mock visa interviews for your class of visa so you can build your confidence up and know how to answer the potential questions you may be asked.

3. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY ANYONE TO COACH YOU

4. Go through your documents yourself and as much as possible, bring everything from home. Those business centres around the embassy are shylocks who prey on your ignorance, naivety and unpreparedness.

Imagine paying ₦3k per page for coloured printing and ₦30k to do a DS160 confirmation page retrieval.

A new passport is not the problem. Just attach your old passports to the new one.

The major issue is to apply within the validity period for the interview waiver i.e 48months from when your last visa expired

GURUS IN THE HOUSE, PLEASE HELP ME!!

- I qualify for US visa Dropbox due to the recent extension to 48 months. By the 4th of March 2023, I will no longer be eligible for the Dropbox.

- I have paid the fees and submitted the DS160 form online and I was given an appointment date for March 14 2023 (visa priority: interview waiver)

My questions are:
1. Based on the fact that the appointment date comes after I stop being eligible for the interview waiver do I still qualify?

2. Do I have to come to Lagos to drop off the passport or can I do it from DHL Benin that I have chosen as my document delivery location.

3. Also, if I can drop the documents off in DHL Benin, how soon or how late can I drop my passport?

On the day I captured (July 29), I was told to bring ₦20k to fast track it to 2 weeks as they were still printing February booklets . I told them that I would think about it. Almost 3 months after, they can't find my file in the capturing room. They are telling me to come back in a week's time to see if they have found the file and that if I need it urgently,as they are currently producing May booklets, we can have a discussion.

Does that not imply payment?

Went the DIY route. Paid last year but didn't capture till July this year. Went there this morning to check on the status only to be told NRF (NO RECORDS FOUND). They are telling me to check back in a week's time to see if they can find the record. And that by the way, they are still producing for May so if I need it urgently.....

These people sha want me to part with money before they find my file and produce passport for me.

I don't mind the wait but how can they misplace my file?

Please does anyone have any idea of how I can tackle this issue? What's the use of doing DIY if they are going to blackmail someone into parting with money?
