So far, yea 400 minimum crs score translates to an Ontario EOI. however, due to glitches in the system some persons haven't gotten that even after scoring 400, they have been advised by the gurus here to delete their EE profile and re-enter and the invite came.

No it doesn't. The fact that you score above 400 doesn't guarantee that Ontario will send you an EOI. They only choose a select few because they have a quota to fill. Now that they haven't started their 2016 program the EOI's have dried up.

Hi guys,

I received my PPR today. I've been ecstatic. Hahahah honestly grateful to you, @zandora and @jesusdway. This platform has been a very useful resource.

Thank you so much. My EE journey has been quite nerve wracking.

I'm going to use DHL as advised to send my passport. But seeing as I'm currently in the US I'm guessing I'll have to send my passport to a visa application office here in the States. The letter doesn't state where to address the DHL though...

Any pointers?

In any case, I wish everybody on this journey the best of luck.

I pray it works out well for everyone.

Wow congrats AlphaNumero cheesy!

My senior Express entry colleagues and my co aspirants, please is it OK to use notification of result if one hasn't collected his degree certificates?

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean for WES? If so then the answer is yes.

Hello Gurus in the house, i am trying to enter the pool by registering with job bank. I have tried several times since yesterday but it keep bringing error message that website is facing technical difficulties and thus try later. Is anyone witnessing this too or has witnessed same? What can be done as my bday is in 3days, 5points going!

It's probably an error with their website. Anyway it doesn't matter if you don't enter the pool before your birthday because even if you're able to enter the pool now, 5 points will still be deducted in 3 days time. So as long as you've not received an ITA, 5 points will automatically be deducted from your total score come your birthday.

Congratulations to you Zandora! I read the news and was super glad for you. Thanks for sharing the tips on getting a job in Canada. It was very helpful.

I have a question for you and @irondome if you don't mind smiley

Do you know how long after receipt of the background check in progress update do they send the PPR?
Please can you advise on the steps after this stage and the timeline?

Also, do they require any further proof of funds? Will the applicant be expected to bring actual cash into Canada?

Thank you very much and congratulations to you on your job.

With the background check it depends on the case officer. Sometimes it could take as little as 2 days like some people I know, or it could take as long as about 4 months like mine. Yes they'll ask you for the proof of funds at the border, it may be in cash, traveller's cheque etc.

My predicament is that the visa issued would expire 1st week of June, would the new COPR be ready before the visa expires?

Send the COPR back then they'll request for your wife's info for background check and they'll also perform a medical exam. After that they'll add her to your application and issue you both with new visas (with a new expiry date) and new COPR.

If you don't send it back. Your PR would be cancelled. I know someone whose PR was cancelled as they didn't add their newborn to the application. The baby was born in d US(American passport) , so the family thought they didn't need a visa for her.

Agreed. The PR will be cancelled and White12k might even be banned for representation.

Please I would like to find out on how to proceed with this issue. I'm an FSW 2014 applicant and my visa was issued this February. I plan on getting married this March 2016, do I still need to inform CIC before I travel about change in my circumstance (i.e. no longer single).

I look forward to your response.

Yes you MUST inform CIC before you travel that you're no longer single. You'll be asked to send your COPR back and evidence of your marriage so she can be added to your application and she'll also need to take medical exams. When you land the boarder agent will still ask if you're single and if you say you aren't you'll find yourself on d next available flight back to your country. That's why if you check the letter accompanying your COPR you'll see where they wrote that you must inform CIC if your circumstances have changed.

Didn't receive any email from you. Did you use your id Dhejy? Have you already paid for the WES and have been given an id? Ppl send me their certificates without paying WES which results in me not being able to send it to WES. Please if you are sending me your certificate to post for you make sure you've already paid WES then provide me with the WES id and address.

The latter is the case. The marriage took place after he applied and before being requested by CIC to submit his docs.so he will send the mail to know the next step.Thank you very much.

If that's the case, then he can't submit that application as being single otherwise it'll be regarded as misrepresentation. Furthermore, the field showing an applicant as single is locked as soon as one enters the pool and the section for uploading documents will only show the options for a single applicant eg there'll be no section to upload the marriage certificate etc. My advice would be for him to reject the ITA then you take your IELTS and get your WES evaluation if your score isn't high enough, then re-enter the pool.

Hello House,

Is the cost of MSC program cheaper for those with PR compared to intl students?

For those who have immigrated already - Does having a canadian degree also equate to more job opprotunities?

Kindly also shed more light on the ontatio nomination route.

Thanks in anticiapation

- Yes it's cheaper for permanent residents and Canadian citizens.
- Unfortunately it rarely equates to more job opportunities as I know several non Canadians who've got Master's and are still job hunting sadly. What will open the doors is having a Canadian experience, so even if you land an unskilled job in Canada you'll be at an advantage.

Hello Naira landers, This is my current situation. My husband has just been invited by CIC to submit his documents for PR.He wants to include me but the issue is I have not done my English test yet and this might reduce his required point and am not sure i can still meet up with his submission considering when my test score will be out.I was also refused study visa in March 2015 (I was not married as at that time) will this affect anything and can I apply for an open work permit in the middle of all of this. The first refusal really sad and I want to get it right this time. Please I need help. Thanks

I don't understand, you've confused me. If your husband has already been invited and he declared that he was married then why does he want you to take the ielts when he has already been invited based on his score? Did your husband state that he was single when he entered the pool? Yet still, did he indicate that you had already taken the ielts and put dummy scores for you? Finally, did he enter the pool when he was single and now wants to add you?

Yes you need to be in the pool before you apply. You even need your express entry number when applying for any PNP.

I am sure there would be some temporary cards or health card numbers that would suffice. You may want to discuss that with Service Canada. I remember using just temporary card numbers in Australia before I got my medicare card.

Unfortunately there's nothing like temporary health card for permanent residents in Canada, until you complete the waiting time you won't qualify for any public health care unless you take out a private insurance policy. I myself am not yet qualified for the Ontario health care because I haven't spent 3 months here yet. Also, I didn't take out any private health insurance, therefore I pray everyday that I don't fall seriously ill because if I do I'll be finished!

Good evening. My wife and I are in the pool with scores of 376 and 367 respectively. We have tried to improve our scores by rewriting IELTS but we still didn't hit the 400 mark and there is no PNP in sight yet. I am 37 while my wife would be 33 in few months time. Her NOC is 1114 while mine is 0122 though I have edited it to 4163.

Since we are determined to relocate to Canada along with our children, we are proposing that my wife should apply for an M.sc in Accounting in any province considering the following: affordable cost of living, possibility of me securing a job easily with an "spousal work permit" (hope I got it right) and affordable child care for our children.

I learned that she would be eligible for a 3 years work permit after the M.sc and there would be possibility of getting PR subsequently. I also learned that I would be eligible for a work permit while she is studying for her graduate programme. We have 9 and 7 years work experience respectively.

My wife's desire is to join the academia since she has completed her Msc in Accounting at a Nigerian University but we feel that starting all over would enable her to acclimatize before pursuing her Ph.d in Accounting and at the same be a less-stressful way of immigrating to Canada.

What do you think of the above proposal?
Does it look realistic?
Would I be eligible for a work permit during the period of her study and the anticipated 3 years work permit that follows?
What other ways can you suggest apart from the above?

I would really appreciate the input of our gurus@JesusDWay, zandora, superchi, dupyshoo, Tola73, irondome, Etfash, other gurus

Firstly it is doable but the problem is that she already has a Master's so CIC will be skeptical as to why she wants another Master's again. My advice is for her to apply for a PhD instead to maximise her chances of being successful with the student application. Yes you would be eligible for a spousal work permit.

Hello house,

Wifee and I will be emigrating in August this year. She is pregnant and will be putting to bed at the end of September.
I wish we could go earlier but it is not feasible.

I understand there is a 90 day wait period before the issuance of the health cards. What can I do? I need help.

Thank u.

Yes there's a 90 day wait but that's for some provinces. You've got a few options though:

- Land in another province such as Alberta whereby the health insurance starts immediately then quickly register so that your wife receives coverage, then move to your intended province later. However note that when you move to another province you'll have to register again with that province and wait for the coverage to start according to their stipulated waiting times.

- Land in the province that requires a 3 month wait period and take out a temporary private insurance policy that'll cover her for 90 days, however beware that most private insurance policies don't cover pregnant women.

- Land in your intended province then pay for her care out of your pocket, this is the most expensive option.

- Let your wife give birth in Nigeria before you land. The problem with this option though is that you'll have to inform CIC to add your baby to your application and this might take a lot of time to process.

Find below a list of provinces and their provincial health care wait times :

Alberta: Immediate coverage after arrival
Ontario: Coverage after 90 days
British Columbia: Coverage after 90 days
Manitoba: Coverage begins on the first day of the third month after your arrival. For example, if you arrive on August 29, August will count as the first month, with September and October as the following two. Therefore, in this case your coverage would begin November 1.
Quebec: Coverage after 90 days
New Brunswick:Coverage after 90 days
Nova Scotia: Immediate coverage after arrival
Saskatchewan: Immediate coverage after arrival

Lol.....Whoever is coming back to marry you will do her job to know what it requires to bring you in. I think it's called spousal visa and for each province it seems the duration and modality varies. Go to www.cic.gc.ca and find out about it but, since it's Zandora you are hoping to come back for you, you need not worry your head, she's proficient enough to know what to do which by then I think you would have woken up from your pipe dream grin

Lol you hit the nail on the head!!

Hi Canada landers and other aspirants!

I need clarification on this; what is the possibility of a landed immigrant in Canada who came back home to consumate his/her marriage statutorily taking back his lawfully married spouse to Canada? How can this be done pls.

For example, assuming Zandora decides to come back to Nigeria to marry me, what are the standing rules required of Zandora/JesusDway to embark on this conjugal venture?
cool

Hello,
Please I need your help. My question may have been answered somewhere but i cant seem to follow up the thread.
My wife is an RN here in Nigeria. we have applied for the express entry but our score is quite low to receive an ITA. Please what means can we use to boos our score? it seems very limited provinces are in need of RN's.

Either you both get the maximum scores in ielts or PNP.

If its a Nigerian school, verification will be needed by WES. If it's abroad(i can talk for Europe and America), never seen verification needed for schools from those countries. If your Msc is from Europe or America, you may ask your school to send your transcripts to WES(ensure you give them the reference number WES will give you after you must have paid, that they should quote it on the cover note for the transcripts), while you send a copy of your certificate(quoting same reference number on it) by fax(fastest and cheapest means) to WES as well. You should have your evaluation done in at most a month.

Verification is done with all schools regardless of the country. My Master's is from the UK and WES verified my transcript with my school.

I don't know which other option you've got left since your school won't amend it. Try submitting it like that, CIC might overlook it. Is the discrepancy a lot though? For example is it the same day and month but a different year?

Yes you can only if you don't mind scoring low, you intend to achieve the highest possible score in each band and have a post graduate degree or you intend to go through the PNP route.

This one. Thanks.

No the law school doesn't count because with your law school certificate you can only practice law in Nigeria. Now if you had the law school certificate obtained in Canada then it would count because it means you can then practice that profession in Canada. Other examples include writing their pharmacy qualifying exams and obtaining their pharmacy provincial license to be able to practice pharmacy in Canada, obtaining their engineering license to become an engineer in Canada, Canadian medical license to practice medicine in Canada etc.
