Hello VisaOfficer,

We finally got a case number from NVC and our case is in transit to Lagos. My question is how quickly can my Fiance get an interview date, I'm asking because I have plans of coming to Nigeria in August, We just want to be sure before making any move. Thank you as always.

VisaOfficer:

You know, this is the first time it's occurred to me that I-129Fs might come straight to us from USCIS without passing through NVC. (As you can tell, I'm not the person who opens the boxes when they first arrive. This is a good question -- I'm learning things along with you.) I'm guessing there's no reason for I-129Fs to go through NVC, since we ask K applicants to schedule their own appointments as soon as the petitions arrive at post. On the other hand, we don't assign the case numbers -- the case numbers are assigned to them before the petitions are sent to us. So it sounds like, although the petition has been approved, USCIS hasn't assigned a case number to it and sent it to us yet.

I'll check on my reasoning when I get back to the office, and if the above isn't correct, I'll let you know.

Thank you VisaOfficer, I'll be glad if you'd follow up on it when you get back on the job. Warm regards smiley

Hi VO, i have a question. Is it possible that my approved I -129f petition is sent to the US embassy in Lagos instead of NVC? My petition has being approved for over 35 days and NVC has no record of it or a case number only for a USCIS operator to tell me that K1s are no longer sent to NVC but straight to foreign consulates. Is this true please?

Thank you for the reassurance VisaOfficer, you are wonderful.

VisaOfficer:

That's incorrect. In fact, if the petitioner's AOS doesn't pass the poverty threshold, we are not allowed to issue without an affidavit from a joint sponsor.

I'm not sure what you mean that we don't issue visas for co-sponsorship. Could you clarify?

Ir does sound like you will need a joint sponsor. We ask for documentation to support the I-134, and if you don't pay taxes on your job, you won't have the documentation to show us.

I have read on websites such as Visa journey that certain US embassies (Lagos included) don't accept Co-sponsorship for K visas. That's why I want to know what your policies are on that.

Hi Visa officer, i have a question concerning the form I134 I'd love to have clarification on. My fiance and i are presently waiting on our NoA2 for a K1 visa. Thing is I receive a SSDi which I believe is suitable for Affidavit of support but the income from that does not exceed the HHS threshold for our family size. Also I have a job from which I get paid on the table, i don't pay tax on it. Adding this to my ssa exceeds the needed amount. Can I use this for AoS? or will using a Co sponsor be better. Also, i have read that the lagos embassy does not issue visas for Co sponsorship. I will be grateful if you can throw light on this. Bless you.
