Steaming of the face is one of the important ways to care for your face at home. Facial steam applications provide several skin health and beauty benefits...
Applying warm steam to the face regularly is a great beauty treatment available to everyone at home because of its benefits.
Bal Fashion has collated a step-by-step guide on how to steam your face properly at home. With this guide, you will be able to efficiently steam your face providing effective beneficial result.

Step 1:

Boil water on a small pot. You do not need to boil much water as the basic steam is just what you want for steaming of the face. Pour 1 - 2 cups of water into the small pot and then bring to full boil.

Step 2:

Wash the face. In the process of boiling the water, wash the face using a mild cleanser. In this situation, ensure you wash your face with a lukewarm water so as to produce the best result, avoid using cold or hot water to wash the face. Make sure you eliminate all forms of makeup on your face, sweat, dirts or oils sittinng on your face before steaming. It is very important you have a clean face before steaming the face because the pores will be wide open and if there is any form of makeup or dirt, it might lead to irritation.
Do not use harsh soap or exfoliating scrub to wash your face before steaming as it could lead to harsh reactions. It is best to wash with a very gentle cleanser in order to reduce the chance in which the steam treatment will cause irritation to your skin.
Dry your face with a clean soft towel.

Step 3:

After boil, transfer the steaming water into a bowl. If you are expanding this to home spa treatment, pour the boiled water in a big ceramic or glass bowl. If you are in a hurry for quick steam, then you can leave the steam water in the pot. Place a folded towel on top of the table you're using and then put your bowl filled with the steam water on it.
Avoid using plastic bowls so that you do away with the small plastic molecules getting into your steam water.

Step 4:

Add essential herbs or oils. This is the appropriate time to add essential oils or herbs to the steam water to provide a special treatment to the face. When oil or herb is added, the steam treatment will be extra as an aromatherapy session making it a 2-in-1 treatment. Few drops of essential oil does wonders on the face.
Ensure the essential oil or herb is added after taken the water from boil, so as to avoid the scents evaporating soon.
If you do not have essential oil or herb, then you can opt for tea bags with strong scent, this will help make a fabulous steam.

Step 5:

Place a towel over your head while steaming your face. Drape the towel across your head having it dropped down on both sides of your face, so that the steam focuses near your skin. Place your face close to the steam but not so close that you feel your skin is burning or having problem breathing fresh air.
Good steam lasts for about 10 minutes, so you can decide to sit during the process. Mind you, you can still achive the same benefits if you stop after 5 minutes.
Do not steam your face for long especially after 10 minutes. Should incase you have acne or other skin issues, it can cause the skin disorder to exacerbate or face to swell.
