They did not start out seeking invesments through IPO. Companies dont just wake up and go IPO, they start out small, then grow big enough where they want to scale up. IPO is a rigorous process where ones accounting books are open, and vetted and forever public. Apple, Amazon raised most of their initial start up funds from their family and friend first. Then bank loans. You havent shown us that your business is legit ( which I can bet my balls 100% that it is a scam), or scalable. Show us your proof of concept first. Not all this yahoo yahoo profits of growing by 10x, as if it is easy DrDoc: |

Sorry for the denial. I think it was just bad luck and cant think of anything particularly wrong with what you posted. Your answers all seem genuine. Try again, you may be lucky if you get more funding. Reach out to the school, let them know you will try again. I strongly believe you will be successful the next go around. You are young. Truthfully the interviewers consider everyone an immigrant until proven otherwise. They just want to be sure that the person has a good head on their shoulders, wont drop out of school or be a burden to the society which you dont come across as given your high scores. -maybe next time research the school, and a particular professor or aspect of the degree that is unique to the program and give that as a reason for choosing the school. Pray before the interview, see yourself smiling and having a pleasant conversation with the VO. Maintain a friendly demeanor even if they try to throw you off your game. Try again. You will get it. potken: 4 Likes |

Right.. i made a sweeping generalization. Depending on what continent of "the abroad you are in". But on average tropical countries of which Nigeria is one of-- see more sunshine than say a European country like UK where the sunshine can be obscured by clouds. You get the general idea of my gist. Hopefully thats the only error found in my argument. apogyizi: 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Congratulations on the NIW approval! That is a huge deal and the toughest hurdle to cross. If you did not do concurrent filing, why not just wait till you finish the green card process and then apply for the PhD. You are almost at the end of your journey. You can defer the PHD. In my opinion its best to avoid overexplanation, and complicating matters. Keep things simply and wait till you get your green card, then can pursue 10 different phDs if needed. JohnPhysics: 1 Like |

I mean technically she visited the US with the visa and returned... and then went again the second time. IMO she can still give it a shot but will need to be major prepared with invoices, receipts, letter of zero balance, letters etc, and prepared to defend why she decided to return a second time to give birth. If her F1 visa application is solid eg you are offered an MBA to say a prestigious school that oyibo no fit go with scholarship sef, and have enough funds to back it up in your account, and have a logical conversation about how this degree impacts your career choice then its possible. Nothing is impossible. Have faith. MamaOO: |

Has there been any changes in your financial status or supporting documents since the last time you went? What was the quoted reason for the refusal? Where there any major differences between your application this time vs last time ? do you think you subconsciously came across as wanting to JAPA with your kids? Maybe try a tourist visa to another country in the interim, and give the US application a break for a year or so. Best of luck. teefex: |

I don't know if this has been answered but I think getting an F1 visa should be fine because 1) you used the visas as intended 2) don't have a record of overstaying So as long as your F1 application is solid, i.e You apply to a school or program that is logical and in line with your area of expertise, have enough proof of funds, and enough ties to your home country , then you should be fine. Best of luck ! foladetutu: |
Travel / Re: The Japa After The Japa by zichien: 8:08pm On Nov 16, 2023 |
It is multifactorial. Generally the older you are at the time of "japa", the harder it is to adjust. 1) It can be socially isolating. At work you have to adjust to the accents, and cant even laugh anyhow, and will just be tensed up... you finish work and come home and wont see anyone to talk t.. you go to church the same thing. Unless you find a Nigerian church. 2) The weather: It can be cold, and annoying, and will make you want to stay in doors and not come out 3) Lack of sunlight. Honestly there is something about seeing the sun that gives one joy. If youve lived in a country like Nigeria with beautiful weather, and correct sunlight, and you are now transported to a place with gloomy depressing weather, ah your brain sef will be doing some how 4) Bills. You've migrated with all the expectations. Your people sent you forth at the airport. They told you job full everywhere, money is everywhere. You work .. and by work I mean you put in those long hard hours ..and are paid your first pay check and see how much is deducted as tax. and how much finally ends up in your account. In Nigeria you are used to surviving on your paycheck + bribe+ plus urgent 1k. You can owe Iya Basira, and owe your landlord, and sort electricity. Now here you are surviving on paycheck alone which is "Salary-(taxes-monthly rent-monthly phone bill-monthly gas/water bill-monthly deduction to send home-monthly deduction for car insurance). What is left off is then saved. And then there is the pressure because you are seeing the ones that are carrying" you know what" flaunting on instagram, and making you look like an idiot, and lazy... and you begin to wonder wether it is not the same Japa,or God that you are serving. 5) When you were in Nigeria, you had an excuse for not succeeding. You could blame Jonathan, Or Buhari, or Tinubu or ipob. Now you are here, and have arrived... and typical oyibo expects one to take accountability for their actions. The buck stops on you. No one to blame for your lack of progress but yourself.. so some folks fall into depression because a sheep in Nigeria is still a sheep in Canada, Uk etc. Someone that used an agent to sort through university, used an agent to find them a school abroad, an agent to apply for their visa, has now come to a setting where you have to DIY. No agent will tell you how to apply for that extra certificate that will help you advance your career, no agent will tell you how to create a strategic long term plan such that in 10years you will be at the top of your career, no agent will tell you what classes to choose to develop the skill sets that are highly sought after. So someone who has always lacked the self efficacy, and accountability, someone who doesnt know how to take ownership, and blames others eg " my mother is a witch", "my village people did me" " they sent me poison"... will struggle badly, and can fall into depression. This isnt all... but just a few random thoughts - FinidiGeorge: 17 Likes 2 Shares |
Travel / Re: Canada Conference Visa by zichien: 7:36pm On Nov 16, 2023 |
Nothing personal just an advice. From my brief 2min google search seems Vancouver international airport is the closest international airport, and so will most likely be your port of entry to Canada. ( But this all depends on your airline). Then you can either get a domestic flight from Vancouver to Nainamo, or take a bus, ferry or rent a car. Here is a link to the island. https://tourismnanaimo.com/how-to-get-here/ If your "conference" is a 1 day conference then would recommend at least 5-7 days to enjoy the Island, and Vancouver. As others have suggested make sure you know the name of the "conference" and have proof to show that you work in that field, have as much info at your finger tips so you can sound confident at the POE. ... and not stammer when questioned at the POE. Best of luck If you read and understand what I asked it’s very simple, have made my research already and I wanted to confirm to be 100 percent sure but I can see people replying are not even giving me the question I asked, instead his asking me if my visa is genuine lol, will the embassy issue and stamp me a fake visa in the first place because I submitted and pick up my passport myself, some people here will sha want to talk like say na dem wise pass. Anyway I get your information and point. Thank you[/quote] |

Its a fallacy that high blood pressure has symptoms. Most people think " oh i have headache" "oh i have malaria". High blood pressure has no symptoms. By the time you start to have symptoms from your high blood pressure its usually hypertensive emergency or urgency. Yes our forefathers didnt have a lot of this, but they died early, lived in the suburbs, walked everywhere, drank palm wine, ate mostly healthy food, did not use maggi to cook, slept very well, did not wake up at 4am to get to work, spend 4 hours in traffic, or jump bus to get to work, get stuck in traffic for 4 hours, return home to noisy generator sounds, and polluted air...which all contribute to the modern stressors of life. So if you want to be as healthy as your forefathers, then live like them. We cant eat our cake and have it. Either we agree that we have been westernized, and have adopted bad eating, and lifestyle and be ready to use western medications to treat ourselves. When your pi phemmyfour: 1 Like |

When your kitchen pipe gets clogged and your plumber comes to see it.. if he comes and tells you well you put a big thigh bone down and that is what caused it.. but does not relieve the blockage.. next time will you call him again? In as much as we work on prevention when someone has high BP first things are weight loss, and dietary management. How many people can confidently loose 10% of their body weight? How many people can confidently cut out salt from their diet entirely ( which means no maggi, no added salt, no eating at mama put or buying gala). The answer is zero. So why we wait for you to fix your lifestyle, to prevent further damage we start blood pressure medications. have you noticed how the rate of kidney disease, young people dying of stroke is increasing? It is because many have lived decades with uncontrolled high blood pressure which is wrecking havoc on their internal plumbing for many many years till boom..their kidneys are shot. So do you self a favor and either loose weight, start to avoid alcohol, start to exercise and eat well or if you know you love the good things of life then start a medication for your blood pressure. yemmit90: |

—— in response to the earlier post asking for confirmation that the US government no longer requires COVID 19 vaccine status—- If the us government website states no vaccine status is required..whatelse do you need again? You’ve heard it directly from the horses mouth. They no longer require vaccine status for travel to the US. If I tell you the website is lying does that mean you’ll believe the word of an anonymous stranger on a website over something easily verifiable by googling and finding the answer yourself straight from the horses mouth i.e us government website ?? 1 Like |

During your drinking days? How much alcohol drinks were you drinking in a day ? And did you drink every single day? Did you ever notice a yellowing of your eye or skin? Did you ever get a liver test done during your hospitalization for a GI bleed? Have you ever noticed a distension of your abdomen? Also prior to your bleeding were you taking any pain medicines eg meds for headache or joint pain or aches that may have contained Nsaids like ibuprofen or naproxen ? Also may want to get an abdominal ultrasound scan of your liver to be sure that its all good kayo80: |

Hi everyone. We all have expired Nigerian passports. Have a baby without a Nigerian passport yet. There has been a backlog and so we havent been able to renew ours. Is it possible to travel to Nigeria on an expired passport without the visa on arrival issue? We have valid US passports, and intend to use one of the middle eastern or European airlines, and not a direct flight. Thank you |

I agree with the author above. I would like to understand why you havent been to DHL to at least find out the status of your passport yourself? I say this because my relative went for her visa interview just after the ban, had her waiver approved, then it showed issued on the CEAC status update. Same day I saw the status change on CEAC, I sent her straight to DHL office to check if it was approved, she went there and saw that her passport was stamped. With that I was able to book a flight for her early march, and she is currently here with us. Luck was on our side. When i saw the numbers rising I knew the borders would close, and so I sucessfully rescheduled her flight to an earlier date, so she could leave Nigeria. The reason I decided to post is that a few others are in your shoes. Their CEAC status shows issued, but they decided to wait, and didnt want to go to DHL to check for themselves, till they were 100% sure. In life sometimes one has to take chances, think several steps ahead. Though I understand that folks may live outside Lagos, and so making that trip to DHL Lagos Island may be an added step... Hopefully it all works out for everyone still waiting to collect their passport. omowaleola: |

You are right o! The expectations on our naija men can be daunting! I get your point now, and I can imagine how it can drive a man to frustration is he has spent a large chunk of money taking care of a lady, and all her extended family only for her to travel abroad and decide that he isnt good enough for her anymore. These days it works both ways too. The level of hunger in naija has caused a lot of men to look at women abroad as cash cows and their way out of poverty. It is well sha. May God grant us wisdom and discerning spirit to tell right from wrong. EVILFOREST: 1 Like |

Nigerian men also need to learn how to treat their wives better as well. I can assure you that a Naija man married to a white lady will not sit down and wait for his wive to go to work, come, go grocery shopping, come back make meals, clean house etc. He will chip in and help out at home, and will pamper his oyibo/foreign wife... but when he's married to naija lady thats not the case. He balances and acts like a God in his home. EVILFOREST: 5 Likes |
