Has anyone experienced this before? I applied for canada visa using my married name as last name. Every document i submitted has my husband's name as my last including my passport. My application portal is showing my correct last name. Even my biometric instruction letter came with correct name.
However, after my visa was approved, the original passport request letter and biometric validity letter came in today, bearing my MAIDEN name instead of my MARRIAGE name as my last name., it was shocking to me.
The only place I mentioned my maiden name was where I was asked in the application form If I have used any other name in the past and I said yes and I put the name. I have carefully gone back to check my application form but there was no such error.

I don't know how they mixed it up.

I am going to VFS office to drop my passport for the visa stamping on Tuesday. I don't know how to rectify this issue. Should I send webform or should I explain at vfs?
Who has a better idea? My travel date is very near.

You don't need this policy...... You would get more value from an income protection insurance or life insurance policy..........

@Lexusgs430, please kindly explain in details šŸ™, for more understanding. What's the difference? Please throw more light. The one Aviva is offering is actually a life insurance policy.
Travel / Re: Living In The UK: Property,Mortgage And Related by Zimzee: 12:24pm On Apr 09
Hello everyone,

I am currently in the process of finalizing a mortgage protection policy and would appreciate some insights and advice from the community.

My mortgage broker has recommended a policy from Aviva, which covers the specific amount needed to protect my mortgage. The monthly premium for this policy is Ā£20.78 for Ā£135,000 over 22years. While this seems reasonable, I have come across other policies offering similar coverage at lower monthly premiums (e.g., Royal London offering Ā£166,500 coverage over 32 years for Ā£16.09 per month) for someone I know.

I understand that insurance premiums can vary based on individual factors such as age, health, and specific coverage needs. However, I am unsure whether I should proceed with the Aviva policy or insist on exploring other options to potentially lower the monthly cost.

My main concern is striking a balance between affordability and comprehensive coverage. Given that my broker assures me that the Aviva policy is the most cost-effective for my needs, I am seeking advice on whether I should accept this recommendation or continue to pursue alternatives with lower premiums.

Has anyone else faced a similar decision? Is it generally advisable to go with the policy recommended by the broker, even if other seemingly cheaper options are available?

Thank you in advance for your help!
Please gurus in the house

Have you informed your broker, about the possibility of coal mining report........

Another much better property, is always around the corner.........

Hope you're aware of the consequences of buying a property, from an area exposed to coal + implications on your proposed building insurance...........

Thank you, @lexusgs430, for the prompt response. Please enlighten me more. I followed the link you and checked out the property, it still says the same exact thing as the search report. I'll discuss this with my broker in the morning.

Given your property expertise, do you recommend searching for another property, regardless of the coal search outcome?
Also, going through the search report like a storybook, and there's this RADON thing that the solicitor didn't mention. It says, "1-3% of homes here might have higher radon levels." Is this a big deal or just a tiny twist in our home-buying adventure?
Me I am confuse oo.

Hello,

Please gurus in the house, please help me out in this dilemma.

Upon conducting a property search, indications emerged that the property we intend to purchase may be situated in a coal mining area. In response, our solicitors requested Ā£48 to conduct a specialized coal mining search, to which we promptly complied. Despite our request for updates, the solicitors have communicated that they will provide information on the search when they are in a position to do so.

On a parallel note, our broker is wants to proceed with the submission of the mortgage application. Their procedural policy entails collecting broker fee post-submission. However, the solicitors have not yet furnished us with the outcome of the coal mining search.

Given this situation, we are now faced with the decision of whether to proceed with the broker to submit the mortgage application. It's crucial to bear in mind that the broker's fee is non-refundable. What course of action would be advisable in light of the pending information from the solicitors?

Hello, my sister's husband is applying to join his wife who is already in the UK on a student visa, meanwhile their son is also a student in the UK but in a different city.

When asked if he has another relative apart from his wife, he added their son. Now the application is requesting him to choose where he is going to stay, he chose his wife's address and now it's asking for date of arrival and date of leaving.

Note, he chose temporary visa when asked their type of visa. Please what type of visa is student visa?

Please is it safe to put date of leaving as he doesn't intend leaving soon.

my sister ( on a student visa) has gotten her COS to switch her visa to tier 2, but passport is expired but has applied for new one but it is taking a long time to be ready. Can she do the application without a valid passport as her COS and visa expiration is very fast approaching?
Is passport actually required or can her BRP suffice?
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Zimzee: 1:15am On Nov 13, 2022
Good people, I am currently on a student visa, my visa is expiring in Jan. I got a job with a care home that promised to sponsor when I finished school.
I finished school in September and informed them, they told me they applied for more COS allocation from home office as they have exhausted what they had but haven't heard back from them, one week ran into 10weeks, they feedback was still the same ....they haven't heard back from home office.

Then, I got a mail last week from the home to send in all my details so they can apply for my COS, as home office has responded that the application will be considered on case by case basis. It's been 9 days since I forwarded my details( passport number, full name, status of current visa, date of birth).

1) Please does it look like I will have COS soon?
2) Do you know how long it takes home office to issue cos?
3) Should I relax because I am really worried?
What do you guys make of this story?

Hello good people, is international passport required for tier 2 visa application... Note, I am switching from tier 4 to tier 2. I have my COS, my passport is expiring on 27th November, I have applied for renewal but yet to get it.
Can I go ahead and apply for my visa with the old passport which is almost expired, or should I wait to have the new passport which I do not know when it will get to me? I am confused.

Hello house, please what program Can someone with a PASS DEGREE apply to in any UK university that can still favourably give a work permit for her to support herself.

Please do not ask why she got a pass, it was absolutely a situation beyond her control but she came out strong.

I know some schools offer admission to third class degree but I don't know about pass. Please if you know any medium maybe a top up that can still give her work permit and path to Post study, please kindly share. We are looking at this January.
Thank you

Hi,
For some one that was refused visa 12years ago. Does he need to answer Yes in his visa application that he has been refused visa considering that it's over 10years?
Or should he go ahead and say yes?

Abeg, for more clarity, let me be sure I understood what you said, did You mean he should show proof of fund for the two years? Because What I meant was that the course was originally 18months not One year before it was changed to two years after he deferred.

duchess90:
Hello,

Oh okay, full fees then

Cheers
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 7 by Zimzee: 7:23am On Jun 23, 2022
Thank you for your swift response. It was actually 18 months that's a year and half not 1 year.

duchess90:
Hello,

The course was changed from a one year course in May 2022 to 2years in September 2022?

This seems to be an error.
I will thread with caution and ensure the total fees are available.

Plus it is London campus

Please ask questions on the course duration and confirm if this is an error

Cheers

A friend got offer for May 2022 intake from Northumbria university London campus and later deferred to this September.
Now they sent him new offer letter to effect the change and it's showing that the course is 2 years for September intake which he is ok with. The total tuition is Ā£19000 and the offer states that first year tuition Ā£9500 and same for second year.

Now the question is, will his proof of fund show only the balance of the first year or the total fees?
