Hello house
I intend applying for a visa to a confrence soon but i want to make the interview early enough, the confrence fee is on the high side which will take me some months to get.
My question: Having details of the event, can i proceed for the interview?
A friend said i can proceed, but what if the VO ask for an evidence of payment for the confrence.
I want to be careful, please advise?

I think your friend is right but you may need to give a good reason for not paying the conference fee yet. It is very important that you are sincere in anwering the question to avoid misrepresentation.

VO know you will likely not get through POE without evidence that you are genuinely attending the conference. If they don't ask you for documents don't mean you shouldn't have it in hand to defend your self at POE.

My response is my personal travel experience for other countries I have visited though never visited USA. I also have an interview for a conference am attending in November.

Best of luck to us!

It shouldn't cause any issue, I would be attending a conference by Oct and I had my interview last month (June), so .....all the best

Thanks for your response.

I will appreciate if you could share your interview experience.

Kind regard

Since the conference is still in DEC, try to apply again and prepare well towards it, seek for advise here and I pray it will end well

All the best

I am having interview next weekend for a conference coming up in November. My decision to apply early is because I want to start making travel plans early such as paying for the conference (early birds) which is discounted and book my tickets early enough as my understanding that this conference is towards holiday seasons.

I hope this decision to apply early wouldn't cause any problems.

Uncle nobody responded because your questions show you haven't done any research AT ALL.
i'm at work and very busy but can point you in the right directions
No. It is a fallacy what your somebody said. A B visa covers conference and vacation. Read the embassy website na! We aren't travelling with you. If it will benefit your career then asking for half and half advice will get u nowhere.
You can get a visa as early as u wish.
Documents are not checked so don't bother.

Thanks for responding but maybe you didn't get my questions correctly. I appreciate your confirmation that documents are not usually checked so will not even bring them except a letter from my work place in addition to those visa confirmations and receipt listed. My travel history they will see from my passports.

I wanted direct advice on my true situation to the following questions if asked as I was wondering if VO would be patient enough to ask for clearing any doubts?

It's 5 days conference so why are you staying 16 days?

Answer: I will be attending the conference during my long holiday so I hope to spend some more days visiting Orlando fun sights and attend a music concert by marc Anthony after the conference.

Are you married?

Answer: No or Not yet but I have a beautiful daughter

You can stay for 16 days if you can afford it.

You don't have to pay the $1,800 except it's refundable. Go to the interview and explain the situation.

Consul : Have you made payment for the conference?

You: NO, payment will be made today once my visa is approved.

The consul usually advise applicants against making upfront payment for tickets, medical bill, conference e.t.c. except they have a visa.

Go through the thread thoroughly, you'll overcome your fears.

Thanks I really appreciate your response. Infact, I have not made payment and that was exactly my thoughts to say am applying earlier so I can make payment for early birds discounted.

Just to mention; My travel histry are Ireland, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Macua... Though I listed only Ireland on ds-160 because it's the only country I have been to within the last five years for studies. Hopefully, if VO ask for my old passports other countries will be seen. I appreciate your time...

Visiting Philadelphia in a week time. Finding affordable accommodation near my conference venue has been hectic. I finally got a retired BnB apartment at $800 for 8 days just five minutes walk from the city centre and 3 minutes to my conference venue on Market St. As anyone used BnB before in the U.S.?

Please can you shars your interview experience as I have a conference to attend and my interview is this month.

Hey guys, please can I get some advice; I am attending a 5 days conference but staying 16 days as indicated on my ds-160 form because I intend to explore the tourist attractions of Orlando a little since this will be during my 30days work holiday. Infact, I had to book my return date a day after a music concert by marc Anthony which I plan to attend. Someone say to me I should be straight so conference of 5 days at list not more than 8 days and that the VO like to be straight conference can't be use as tourist visa. Secondly, the VO base their decissions strongly on ties which I could prove both with property documents, job security and family as I have a daughter and currently engaged but I understand they don't give enough time to show documents or explain so should I mention my daughter when ask if married? Finally, this conference is in November but my interview is towards the end of July. Though, it had to be so as I need to pay for early birds on this conference which is $1,800 for full passport cos its a professional conference with strong benefits to my career. Thanks in advance
