We have enlightened them on many of these benefits and more but the critics are hell bent on promoting their vilifying political agenda to frustrate its construction. I don't understand how we can't head on with this edifice and still prioritize the rehabilitation of our bad roads.

WHATEVER THEY DO OR SAY THOUGH, THE ROAD MUST CONTINUE AND BE COMPLETED IN DUE TIME.

IF YOU HAD A WORKING BRAIN IN YOUR HEAD, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT IT IS PRECISELY INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT THAT PROVIDED MASSIVE EMPLOYMENT TO THE CHINESE, WHILE IMPROVING THEIR EASE OF DOING BUSINESS, AND OPENING UP BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES TO MILLIONS OF PEASANTS WHICH ADDED TO GDP GROWTH AND ANNUAL INCOME, WITH WHICH THEY WERE ABLE TO COMBAT THEIR ECONOMIC PROBLEMS.

THEY DID NOT COMBAT THEIR ECONOMIC PROBLEMS BEFORE BUILDING INFRASTUCTURE.

IT WAS THE INFRASTRUCTURAL REVOLUTION THEY EMBARKED ON, AT GREAT COST TO THE PEOPLE (INDEED UNDER COMMUNIST MILITARY DICTATORSHIP) THAT LED TO THEIR ECONOMIC EXPANSION.

PEOPLE LIKE YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU NEED TO BUILD WEALTH AS A NATION. TO GROW YOUR NATIONAL INCOME AND ANNUAL BUDGET.

YOU CANNOT SIT DOWN ON A 30 BILLION DOLLAR BUDGET WHEN COUNTRIES LIKE THE USA HAVE A 7 TRILLION DOLLAR ANNUAL BUDGET, UK, 2 TRILLION, FRANCE, 2 TRILLION, SOUTH AFRICA 120 BILLION, ETC.

SO YOU MUST INCREASE YOUR NATIONAL INCOME.

THE OIL INCOME IS A PITTANCE FOR YOUR HUGE POPULATION.

HOW DO YOU INCREASE THAT INCOME?

BY CREATING A LARGE NUMBER OF BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, AS BUSINESSES PAY TAX, WHILE GENERATING EMPLOYMENT.

THE COASTAL ROAD WILL ATTRACT MULTIPLE INVESTORS FROM HOME AND ABROAD.

THAT IS HOW DEVELOPMENT WORKS!

Nice one there. That's how another daft was asking of the economic benefits the 3rd Mainland Bridge added to Nigeria. He must've been too dumb to realize the thousands of economic activities now ongoing around the iconic bridge were not always there until the edifice opened up the highly hitherto sparsely inhabited areas, including OWORONSOKI, BARIGA, IFAKO and GBAGADA axis, not forgotten the OGUDU and CAR WASH, to rapid development while still continuing to create thousands of employment DECADES AFTER ITS COMPLETION.
Just leave them, their problem is hate and the thing's eaten deep into their brains that they can't think reasonably anymore. ALL WE MUST CLAMOUR FOR AS PATRIOTS IS THAT SUCH PROJECT MUST GO ON DESPITE THE CRITISM AND PESSIMISM. THEY MUST NOT STOP FOR ANYTHING.

Thank you sir.

Nigeria's priority should be refineries, electricity, and the Ibadan -Kano railway.

Why must I chose one when I can implore for the priority of the two? Look, the advance countries and cities you see today don't develop by venturing their focus on a sector while relegating another to the background. They won't be that developed as we see them now if they'd planned their development like that. There'll always be rehabilitation and/or maintenance works to do (even in advance countries) but it doesn't always stop them from investing in new terrains or development. The two can and must go hand in hand for faster development. They should be working to better our electricity supply (like they're already doing), invest more on our security strenght, continue working on bad roads (like they've been doing), invest more on health facilities etc, but they SHOULD NOT BE AFRAID TO START NEW BENEFICIAL PROJECT TOO.
Obi and Atiku were just harming their chances by voicing against this project BECAUSE THEY'RE STICKING WITH THE NORMS THAT KEEP US BEHIND IN DEVELOPMENT. IF WE WANT THE RIGHT CHANGE, WE MUST START TO DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY BY PRIORITIZING DIFFERENT FRONTIERS ALL AT ONCE AND MAKING EFFORTS TO ACTUALIZE THEM ALL.

You cannot tackle all those without investing in infrastructures that raise the values of land and bring in investments that will give jobs to Nigerians. Disney World alone is the highest employer of labor in Florida. While I understand the sentiment around Landmark, it is not Disney, and we can produce many Landmarks with this Coastal Road.

My guess...Tinubu Govt hired consultants who told them what needed to be done ASAP to transform the country, and this must have been one of them. The pace they are going with this road is unprecedented. I know they also plan to move stuff from the PH refinery along this road, and with the rail, they can transport Petroleum products.

It is also a great alternative, so they can divert traffic to the new road to repair the old ones. One of our problems in Nigeria is trying to repair roads still in use. We need alternate routes if we plan to be like the West.

The positive impact of the Lagos Calabar coastal road on the Nigerian economy will be huge and generational.
I have tried to explain to some why this is a brainer but they seem bent on looking at it from a political and sentimental perspective.
Even if Obi was President and he proposed this road, I would have supported it with everything I have.

Nigeria has a long coastline and most are not been used to their full potential. Imagine how many beaches will open up from Lagos to Calabar, imagine world-class hotels, imagine the potential for resorts in many areas.

Look at it from the potential benefits instead of the potential delays and costs.

Projects of this magnitude will experience delays, cost overruns, and many other problems. But we must still start it and plan for potential hiccups as we go along. No matter how ell you plan there will be issues but that is not enough reason to back away form it.
It's a good project no doubt but the timing is the problem. That project will not finish in 4 years but the people can suffer for 4 years.

The project should have waited till there's stability in the economy because people can always go to calabar or rather have been going to calabar before now.

That money could have been put into Agriculture and boost food production.

First, the road is not expected to be completed in 4 years. No one have said that the whole road will be completed in 4 years.
Secondly, the govt is only financing 30 percent of it. Private investors are financing the remaining 70 percent.
If we should follow your logic, then 3rd mainland bridge would not have been built because there were other alternatives to going from Lagos mainland to the island. Buhari should not have built the 2nd Niger bridge because the original Niger bridge is still there.

it is not a priority for now,it is not a priority for now!!! If buhari administration did most of the roads this project will be a good thing but not for now at all. The federal roads in Nigeria are very bad especially the Benin-lokoja axis even the Benin warri road is not 100% done,I heard benin-asaba road has potholes but that Benin-lokoja is a very important road that links South south to Abuja and north......

Everything should be a step at a time not Rushing things.

Too many sycophants for NL! Hahahaha! Una dey mad plenty plenty! Before the coastal road project in Hainan, it’s tourism sector was already in optimal shape because the state government and private enterprises had invested, and are still investing heavily in the sector. The govt didn’t start by building a coastal highway. No! It stated by creating the right policies that enabled investors to invest significantly in Sanya, Hainan, Haikou. The govt also invested highly in security measures by installing security cameras in every public places. The government there didn’t put the cart before horse like is the case in Nigeria. A coastal road in Nigeria is a laudable project, but it shouldn’t be of top priority to the government at this time. Rather than investing in such a massive project, the government should invest heavily in the railway sector by building railway lines across Nigeria. The government should invest in stable and affordable electricity supply as well. Electricity na life! Also, the government should invest in security infrastructures because without the safety of lives and properties our tourism industry WILL never grow. After all nobody wishes to be kidnapped while on a holiday. In conclusion, now that the government has already begun the coastal road project, If the Nigerian government is truly committed to harnessing the full benefits of this project, it must invest in the building of a stable, significant middle class because they (middle class) who travel the most.

Please don't compare those two projects to this one, the reason is because the economy at that time wasn't this bad.

It's a good project like I said, people are well misinformed these days. If the private sector has started it and the govt comes in later,
maybe there won't be much noise.

So all the years that we’ve not built coastal highway, did the government used the money to cure poverty?

Why is there poverty in Nigeria in 1960? Did they used the money to build coastal road too?

That coastal road will come to pass. It won’t stop government from spending on other roads and etc if they want to.

Rather than just embezzle the money for his cronies, Tinubu is opening new frontiers but you guys keep wailing daily. Maybe he should have just steal the money and hand it to his friends, like that no one will even know anything is missing until he is gone.

Imagine government creating new roads and you guys are crying. Would you rather they embezzle it all so you can be happy?

If you had sense( which I doubt) you would know that the purpose of this project is to embezzle money.

So you rather tackle poverty and hunger by giving out food palatives and 50k handouts instead of investing in projects that will get you employed where you can actually make real money and ffed yourself?

This is the kind of shallow thinking that you get from Nigeria's so called "educated" youths then you wonder why the country if fvcked up.

The worst thing that politicians have done to Nigerians is those stupid moronic handouts that will only feed you for a week or two. INshed of giving you a fish , ask to be shown how to fish and you can eat for a long time.
Investments, will bring jobs directly and indirectly, people will get salaries and spend those salaries on products and services thereby creating more jobs .

What happens to investing in power, Loans to local private manufacturers, oil refineries , Education , Health care and security?

Apt!

My very position here.

It has nothing to do with political or ethnic
affiliation. This project is ill timed. Yes I understand that government is spending very little on the project......but even that little could draw us humongous benefits even if it just carefully and judiciously deployed to the Medical sector.

I mean look at the news the world still reads from Nigeria in 2024; just yesterday a child with an emergency could not be treated because of some stupid pecuniary excuse.

My brother na lie.

The said private firm does not have a dime to build the road.
Who dash them 14billiondollars?

Government would secretly fund that project just watch.

Another abandoned failed project loading.

PProjects go through rigorous screening and feasibility. They also include EIA.
