Peter Obi and his disgruntled obidient elements can stick to the old route 🤣🤣🤣
Your own route will not go past Epe in 8 years, stop deceiving yourself, we see through deception.

The best you will have is a fanciful road to boost Lagos image, the rest can go to hell, if in doubt check how "Southern Presidency turn" became Emilokan after rallying Southern Governors forum. I know you have never left your room but Watch the link below and see your wickedness

Most people speaking out in support of such waste at a time when the Country is grappling with it highest debt and living crisis are poorly informed.

If you don't understand economics properly, opportunity cost, environmental impact, cost-benefit analysis, then there is no point deceiving the public on a subject you don't know. Ben Bruce should be asked to keep quiet and listen to the experts.
the man said something and that is clear.if you don't like the road, don't use it when it is completed.let that one alone get into your head

I haven't seen any well meaning SouthSouth person that will be against the project. It's a chance to open up their region to massive development.

But disgruntled element would rather have a beer factory in each state instead.
so in your thinking you think it is okay to spend over a billion dollars on a coastal highway in a time like this? Those of us from the south south who see the bigger picture are definitely against this. Another thing of note is the likely corruption going on imagine spending over 4 billion naira per km when the world bank benchmark building a km of road is 220 million.

Recently, a media house popular among the GenZs has been doing what was done hush hush in media circles in the past, i.e., when journalists are PR consultants to some wealthy but shady businessmen, companies, and politicians. Some of them are used to plant stories in the media or used to kill stories that may potentially embarass their paymasters.

Some of the journalists who write lengthy columns in their newspapers sometime sell those columns to the highest bidder, where they write to promote the paymaster or demonize the paymaster's enemies sometimes.

If you see someone writing castigating someone, be rest assured that the writer may have been paid heavily for that hatchet job.

Senior journalists know what I am talking about and won't deny this. Some senior journalists opened companies to get PR contracts from shady businessmen.

It is a multi-million naira business.

If you open any newspaper and you see a company getting some favourable press, the company paid for it.

Trust me, if not for the advent of online journalism with Fisayo Soyombo's Foundation for Investigative Journalism and Sahara Reporters, Yahaya Bello's case would not have made it to the press. Nor IBD Dende.

Another trick is that when you see a media house consistently attack someone, they want the person to come and settle.

Above is the business model of one of the controversial TV stations in Nigeria. But they now carry out their media assassination in full glare of all of us.

They repeat a lie consistently until it becomes gospel truth to buffoons. What sort of journalism is that?

If they didn't receive PR consulting contracts, why was one television station consistent in attacking the candidate of the APC while giving positive press to the candidates of PDP and LP? It was so bad that the media proprietor of the said media house launched a direct attack on the candidate of the APC.

That had never happened in the history of Nigerian politics.

Now, why is the same media house discrediting the coastal road project? Did Landmark retain them for PR? Remember that this same media house never interviewed anyone or gave rigorous coverage to the Emefiele trial as they did the cases they had an interest towards protecting.

What I explained above was drawn from a petition written by a dismissed editor of PUNCH newspapers against a former director of the newspaper some ten years ago, and from my own observation of the media business. It was common in the print media; it is now being brought to the fore in the broadcast media by the same controversial television station.

It is shameful.

Ladies and gentlemen, while it is sensible to seek information and entertainment from the media, never forget that it is a business and the highest bidder receives the best press coverage.

They are not after your interest.

Informative to say the least.

They are paying lip service and trying to be in the good books of the incumbent President should in case an opportunity to be given a federal appointment presents itself

They all know Bola Tinubu is a rewarder of political loyalty even if you are a criminal, so long as you are foolishly loyal to him, Tinubu must reward you somehow, they are all looking for ways to cash out like that societal misfit on Twitter called Rono Omockery

Many opposing the project are just ignorant or simply see no good in present administration for reason known to them. Bat and his team should ignore their rants as works are focused on.
casualobserver:

Most of you are ignorant illiterates. Dave Umahi has stated many times that all federal govt roads are being repaired. The problem is we do t have the money to repair all the roads quickly so work is slow. He stated categorically there are just under 3000 awarded road contract and there is none where work is not on going.

Now a private company comes with a proposal to build a new transformational road with their own money. The road will cost $15b, the government will put down $1b, they will finance the rest and recoup their money from tolls. Mind you the entire budget for Nigeria is just under $30b. Should the govt say no?

Is the $15b for Lagos Calabar govt money? No!

Is they don’t build the Lagos Calabar road will the $15b go towards existing roads? No!

Are they repairing existing roads? Yes
But at a slow pace because we have no money!

If they don’t construct Lagos Calabar will it make repairs on existing roads faster? No!

Know the facts before you comment.
Existing roads are being repaired but govt has no money so it is slow.
The money for Lagos Calabar is not govt money and if you cancel the project the money will not go to existing g roads because it is not govt money.

IPOB retards are abusing this man for speaking the truth. They are mad because the road is not passing through their evil jungle.

They didn't complain when Buhari decided to build the new Niger Bridge even though the country was broke with a bad economy and many other pressing needs.

So Ben Bruce is now being quoted by you people.

When he reacted after you Tinubu media crew stole his childhood pic and claimed it was Tinubu- you guys blasted him.

Now he is good because he supports your Messiah's plunder project.

15trn that would have been used to support manufacturers and exporters is being used to build a road that will end up as a Toll Road. While the old road from Calabar to Lagos is lying in ruins.

Shame on you

The people opposing the project are doing what they have to do. They aren’t call opposition for nothing. They should know however that the current president isn’t a gentleman, he will do what he wants to do.

It’s political for some people, if Nigeria becomes better, if people get some semblance of hope, how will they campaign in 2027? Nigeria is getting better but let’s remove the man who is making it better?

The president and his team will take the praise or fall for this government performance, they have the liberty to decide what is priority and what isn’t. If you want to be a decider, win an election.
tbh while the highway is development, but any right thinking and honest individual would see truth in what the opposition is saying, that highway cost over a billion dollars, can anyone honestly say spending over billion dollar on an highway at this moment is the best decision, when there are alternate routes, companies are leaving, economy is slowing, poverty is rising, inflation etc, another I noticed is the likely corruption going on one km of that road would cost over 4billion yet the world bank benchmark for a km of road is 220 million naira.

Was there no alternative route when Buhari decided to build the 2nd Niger Bridge? Did you people complain about wasting money when you have other alternatives?

Apart from that, let me educate you a little bit.

When your economy slows down, one of the best things you can do is to pour whatever you have into capital projects such as this. This has tremendous positive effects on the economy. This will have a trickle-down effect on the economy. People will be employed, materials will be bought and produced locally for this construction, and then most importantly, once those areas are opened up, economic activities will increase. We have thousand of coastlines that are just dormant right now. With this road, they will alive.
This is what you call leadership, May God bless Tinubu for pushing this agenda.

Exactly.

I'm really surprised that some are incapable of seeing the potential of this road. Instead of going against it, they should be telling govt that it must be completed within a reasonable amount of time.
