All Sowore called for was protest and not toppling any legitimate government. You and your kind should stop twisting the obvious to suit your narratives. I know you're mourning in hardship because of this administration you so love but because of your ass licking you type trash on NL. Either now or in the future, Nigerians will protest against bad government and we all will be better for it.

Amnesty International is to make noise,if that's its calling,is it different from nigeria CLOs whose office of Lai Moh'd has bought with same blood money

Disobeying court ruling is, no doubt, out of order in a democracy but no legitimate government would tolerate any kind of attempt to uproot it suddenly through Revolution. Every government is wary of Revolution because once it starts, nobody can predict its end result. Even a 'President' Yele Sowore if he had won the last presidential election would not have dealt TAMELY with anybody challenging the existence of his government. Some people who encountered him as a leader of Sahara Reporters Media Organization will attest to his strong character.

The reality is that Revolution is intrinsically undemocratic. It is basically a MOB ACTION against a legitimate government. It recognizes neither the Judiciary nor the Legislature in its bid to forcibly remove the Executive. It dangerously puts MOBOCRACY or ochlocracy above democracy. This is why in developed countries protest marches, sit-ins, and other forms of civil disobedience are more fashionable.

Experience has shown that any person or group of persons who are attempting to remove an established order or a government must first understand the psychology, clout and antecedents of people behind it vis-a-vis how much personal sacrifices to make or discomforts to take if the adventure goes awry. This will help in preparing for the worst while hoping for the best. I had expected Yele Sowore to have done this being an intelligent and analytical fellow.

Regardless, I join other Nigerians in advocating for his release on bail as ruled by court.

YOU ARE A COMPLETE WAISTE OF HUMAN, U SOUND 100% A CORRUPT AND BIAS NIGERIAN... PURE ANIMAL SENCE.

Anybody that does a Sowore / hate speech will be locked up and the keys thrown into Atlantic Ocean.

I advocate for Buhari as life president, and let his children and unborn children continue to rule Nigeria.

When Nnandi kanu was refused released by dss, did he contest for president in 2019? He only want a country if his own. Which is legal everywhere in d world. The truth is Nigeria politicians dont respect court orders. But only buhari its all of them. The only person that try to obey court order was called a woman. Now man don come u guys have to face it.

you shouldn't have involved kanu in this.
before I would argue kanus case I want to be sure I'm dealing with a free thinker, not a sentimentally biased individual.
tell me you aren't an ipobian, easterner or igbo then we are squared up. remember human right is no liberty to create anarchy.

Amnesty International has declared #RevolutionNow protest convener, Omoyele Sowore, his compatriot, Olawale Bakare and a journalist, Agba Jalingo prisoners of conscience.

It said the men have faced ongoing arbitrary detention and unfair trials solely for exercising their right to freedom of expression.

The Media Manager of the international human rights organisation, Isa Sanusi, in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday said the Nigerian authorities at both federal and state levels have repeatedly targeted human rights defenders, activists and journalists, by stifling dissenting voices and passing repressive legislation to restrict the civic space.

Sowore, Bakare and Jalingo have been in detention since August 2019 for expressing views critical of the government.

Despite meeting the stringent bail conditions, the Department of State Services has failed to obey a court order to release Sowore and Bakare.

Jalingo’s bail applications have also been repeatedly and unjustifiably rejected.

Programmes Manager, Amnesty International Nigeria, Seun Bakare said, “We consider Sowore, Jalingo and Bakare to be prisoners of conscience detained solely for exercising their human rights. The Nigerian authorities must drop all charges against them and release them immediately and unconditionally.”

He added, “Sowore, Jalingo and Bakare’s continued detention is a matter of shame for Nigeria. Their cases show just how far the authorities in Nigeria can go to silence their critics.

“The government of President Muhammadu Buhari needs to stop filing bogus and politically-motivated charges against critics, and start listening to what they have to say.”

The AI also asked the authorities to stop using the security agents and judiciary as a tool for persecuting people who voiced dissenting opinions, challenged abuse and call for accountability.

This is very foolish reasoning. A group that is organized to expose impunity and human rights abuse are the ones you are saying are a destabilizing factor? Amnesty international has exposed the humans rights abuse and torture of suspects detained by US forces in Afghanistan. What happend next? The US Congress held a full hearing on the matter and the Soldiers were charged to court. That is how things are done in civilised countries

Amnesty international has exposed several human rights abuse and extra-judicial killings by the Nigerian armed forces. To this day, nobody has been called to book.

The matter of Sowore is for the courts to decide, but to criminalise him even before the courts have reached a judgement, is going too far

The so called revolution that they claim Sowore called for, what was he going to actualise it with? Catapult? Before you talk about revolutions or coup, the person or group in question must be armed. Has anyone ever seen Sowore with arms? If he is not armed then it means that the revolution of Sowore does not go beyond talking and street protest.

you mentioned Afghans detained by us army as prisoners of war, compare sowore and Co were termed "prisoners of conscience" does that make any meaning to you.
that alone has done no good to the purpose. why would amnesty international call them prisoner of conscience when it knew quite well they were fighting the course of all.
in retaliation you don't need arms and ammunition to start or fight the course.
