That is some impressive machinery for sure. Boko Haram may have started out as a rag-tag gang of gunmen, but the monster grew into a well-equipped, heavily armed, conventional army fully capable of taking and holding cities in modern Africa. These are very sobering pictures. Once can only HOPE that the backers who created Boko Haram will now allow the organization to die a natural death, given that the political objectives that inspired its creation have been largely met, at the federal level in Nigeria.

And u know if u want to strike BH deep,That they will not be a menace anymore is to eliminate all there Financiers and BH will be grounded and become thing of the past !
Or else the war will just keep on going ......... On ?

His South African and other foreign soldiers in Nigeria are
fighting against Boko Haram ? engaging in ground combat
and flying combat air sorties ?
The fighting comes as the Nigerian government tries to
notch battlefield victories ahead of presidential and
parliamentary elections later this month.
Nigerian government officials confirmed the presence of
foreign military personnel, but said they were only advisers
accompanying military equipment purchased from South
Africa, Russia and Ukraine.
Even mr President told VOA in an exclusive
interview on march 12 Wednesday, that the foreigners were "technicians"
brought in for maintenance and instruction.
As need and urgency against the coming election the nigeria government bought some needed military hardware to tackle boko haram, and part of those hardware where. From russia, belarus, china, ukraine and south africa and note those white mercenaries are not only from SA as mentioned earlier but why the so much noise on "SA mercenary" there I sense a political play or beefing" ?
And don't forget countries like niger,Cameron and chad are not left out too, they have boots on ground along bordering towns;"Damsak,Abadam and malam fatori"and av suffered casualties. 97% of the fight are being done by the nigerian armed forces and the rest 3% is being done by neighboring countries. Just in a space of few months the 3 neighboring countries fighting BH as lost close to a hundred soldiers if not more than that ?
In conclusion is there foreign mercenaries on Nigerian's soil; YES !
Did fought in combat or battle front lines ; NO ! They where only here for technical advisory
brought in for maintenance and instruction !
LASTLY where all the mercenaries are even from South AFrica ; NO !

Yes I agree 100% on the 72 MSF and that is what I just said ! They are here to for training and other technical support !
On "air support", was the gazelle choppa's bought frm SA ?; BIG NO where any form of upgrades done on them In a private SA company; BIG NO. The white folks that gave air support and flew air sorties are yet to be ascertain ! But am sure of something those white folks that flew those gazelle's and HIND's choppa's are not frm SA !
All white mercenaries that took part in the technical supports, training's of gazelle and Hind and those who flew air sorties are not SA's . On a similar military thread Discussion, such topic surfaced where a picture/video of a black man with a face cap with, airforce overall jacket but the batch on its soldier/chest was not of NAF,but his a mercenary shown busy fixing a chain rotary gun to n NAF hind.
Yes mercenaries where on ground for technical support and special force training ,SA private mercenaries did not fly air sorties to give air support to ground troops and SA private mercenaries where only seing with the REVA APC purchased frm SA .
Because of the turmoil and tension these issue of SA mercenaries as brought as we speak they are not on nigeria soil again ! The only white mercenaries on ground are mercenaries of which the gazelle attack choppas and Hind's are being bought and as we speak, where those gazelle's where bought is yet to be ascertained ?
The nigeria armed forces run a very high secretive form in there mode of operation ,you can't just come to conclusion like that !

NAF Acquires Sophisticated Craft to Protect Nigeria.

The Nigerian Air Force has recorded some giant strides in the last one year leading to the current successful onslaught against Boko Haram terrorists in every part of the North
East where they have hitherto held sway. Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Adesola Amosu said some of these was in the area of continuation of fleet, logistics and infrastructural renewal, which include acquisition of new aircraft like the King Air 350, Mi- Series Helicopter Gunship, UAVs and DA-42 Diamond Aircraft. Speaking on the celebration of 51st anniversary of the force in Abuja, which also marks his second anniversary as the 19th Chief of the Air Staff, Amosu said “I am happy to inform you that so much have been
achieved for the NAF within the period under review.”
In addition, he said the NAF have successfully installed and programmed newly acquired Harris 7850 multiband radios in the North East to aid operations against insurgency.
An elated Amosu also reiterated achievements relating to reactivation and restoration of existing platforms. Some of the existing platforms reactivated within the period under review include the C-130 aircraft, Super Puma Helicopter Gunship and DO-228.The NAF, which has been playing a pivotal role in the battle against terrorism also successfully conducted periodic deport maintenance and A-Check of Alpha Jet aircraft, C-130H aircraft, Mi-35P Heli and G-222 aircraft while also providing adequate spares for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of aircraft. He recalled that NAF was formally established on 18 April 1964 with the passage of the Air Force Act 1964 by the Nigerian Parliament
with the objectives of defending the Federal Republic by air and giving effective training to its personnel in the air as well as on theground. Over the years he noted, the NAF has
progressively grown to its present enviable position and has proudly justified its existence by performing its constitutional roles.
Amosu mentioned some of notable accomplishments of NAF as successful participation in the Civil War less than 3 years after its establishment; supporting Government Policy on apartheid as a frontline state by providing strategic airlift of arms and logistics supplies to Mozambique, Namibia, Angola and Zimbabwe; and participating in Peace Support Operations in countries such as Lebanon, Chad, Yugoslavia,
Sudan and Mali. Others are combat deployment of NAF ac to support Liberia, Sierra Leone, Cote D’Ivoire and recently Mali; training of Pilots and Engineers for West African Countries like Ghana, Benin Republic, Togo, Sierra Leone
and Niger; internal security operations conducted nationwide and on many occasions (Maitasine and other ethnic and religion disturbances); and Counter-Terrorism
(CT)/Counter-Insurgency (COIN) operations in the North East.
Amosu said under his command, the force has continued to provide air support through armed reconnaissance, ground attacks, combat air patrol, close air support, intelligence, surveillance as evidenced in the ongoing war against insurgency in addition to establishing four Forward Operational Bases (FOBs) at strategic parts of the country for quick intervention and deployment. Within the period that he has been at the helm, Amosun said 123 foreign courses involving 426 persons of different specialties
have been conducted while 14 new NAF units have also been established across the country including a Mother and Child Hospital in Badagry.

NAF integrates RF-7850M-HH Multiband Combat Net Radio communications.

The RF-7850M-HH Multiband Combat Net Radio (CNR) is a multi-mission radio that combines next generation functionality and advanced capabilities to meet the requirements of network-centric warfare. Providing continuous coverage in the 30 to 512 MHz frequency range with up to 10 watts of output power, the RF-7850M-HH enables long range inter-squad and ground-to-air communications.  Features include:

The Adaptive Wideband Networking Waveform (ANW2) allows for high-speed data connectivity with over the air rates of up to 1.6 Mbps, making it the fastest VHF/UHF tactical handheld radio.
Harris' TDMA Networking Waveform (TNW) supporting time-critical situational awareness reporting with up to 64 users on a single channel.
The Quicklook ECCM waveform suite enables covert communications, renders enemy radio jamming devices ineffective, and ensures operations in high-noise environments.
Industry standard protocols that reduce integration complexity and costs.
Full interoperability with the Falcon family of radios.
Software Defined Radio architecture enables planned product improvements to be implemented as software only upgrades in most cases.

Can of Worms: Patriotic Officers of The Nigerian Army Write A Shocking Stinker To GEJ (Photos).

"Got these from my google alert this morning" !

Some army officers under the aegis of the patroitic Officers front has written a non flattery open letter to President Jonathan (copied to Gen. Buhari) accusing him (Jonathan) of complacency, Espionage, corruption and weakness. They alleged that the Boko haram menace and its wars against Nigeria was indirectly but intentionally allowed by GEJ whom they allege armed the insurgents.

Full text of Colonel Barlow’s statement reads as follows;

QUOTE

“A long time ago, I wrote that Nigeria was a prize. This prize is not only targeted by armed force but also by propaganda, disinformation, sanctions, coercive diplomacy and so forth.

You only need to look at who writes what to determine the agenda and what part they are playing in the attack on your country.

The NA men we were honoured to work with are good men who have a deep desire to end the conflict. What they did, they did with dedication and will.

However, their role was a small part in a larger NA effort. Do not be misled as the efforts of the NA/NAF were what turned the conflict around.

Insofar as STTEP is concerned, I only gave ONE interview and that was with SOREP. All other media reports were lifted off SOFREP and the journos then used their imagination to fill in whatever they wanted and were at pains to expose their agendas all the while intimating they interviewed me, which they didn’t.

Some have even tried to create the impression that they attended my talks at the Royal Danish Defence College and that I discussed STTEP in Nigeria. They didn’t attend my talks and I certainly did not divulge the NA’s campaign strategy, operational design or tactics.

All the negativity that is written is aimed at creating a poor perception of Nigeria and thereby hoping to erode the will of the populace. We all know that Nigeria has problems, as does South Africa. But show me a country that can claim they have no problems…even those whose media viciously attacks you have major problems. They just don’t want anyone to know…

I say again, only Africans can solve Africa’s problems.

65 KILLED IN BOKO HARAM. ATTACK IN MAIDUGURI; At least 65 people, mostly suspected members of the Boko Haram insurgents, were feared dead in a clash with troops of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army around Ladi Kayamula village, Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday.
Many people also sustained various degrees of injury while trying to flee the scene of the attack. The Nigerian Army has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the troubled city.
The imposition of the curfew was announced in a statement signed by Col. Tukur Gusau, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations. Gusau said: “In view of the recent development within Maiduguri metropolis, a 24-hour curfew is hereby imposed in the city. This is done to protect lives and property of innocent and law abiding people of Maiduguri.”
The insurgents launched an attack on the city at about 5p.m on Wednesday. The attack forced many residents at the outskirts of the city – areas like Giwa Military Barracks, the University of Maiduguri community, 202 and 303 Housing Estates, Dalori Quarters and Molai, among others, to scamper for safety.
The panicked residents attempted to flee into the main town, but were trapped due to roadblocks mounted by the military and men of the Civilian JTF. Sources told our correspondent that the Boko Haram terrorists attempted
to invade the city with heavy weapons, targeting military formations, including the 21 Armoured Brigade (GiwaBarracks).
It was learnt that 35 members of the sect, including women suicide bombers were killed by troops, while 27 residents of Ladi Kayamula and Alau Dam villages were murdered by the insurgents after being repelled by troops. Mallam Abba Alau, who participated in the mass burial of the slain
residents, said after the killing, the terrorists ran towards Sambisa forest. “We were able to bury the 27 people killed by the terrorists. While fleeing from the military, they ran into our community and wrecked havoc before heading towards Sambisa forest,” he said. Another source said three members of the security operatives were also killed, with others sustaining injuries when some women suicide
bombers, who disguised as fleeing residents of Bale village near Ladi Kayamula detonated explosives close to where troops were operating. This could not be confirmed.
Our correspondent learnt that the imposition of the curfew on Maiduguri and its environs was to allow security operatives trail and apprehend scores of suicide bombers, mostly women, who were believed to have sneaked into the town. “The curfew was declared because during the operation, many insurgents found at the scene of the attack had Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, tied to their bodies, and that security agencies suspected that some of them might have sneaked into Maiduguri and nobody wants to take chances,” a source said. Our correspondent also observed that six combatant helicopters have arrived the Maiduguri Air Force Base to be deployed against the insurgents. The imposition of the dusk to dawn curfew forced students writing their West African Examinations Council, WAEC, examinations to trek long distances to their centres as there were no vehicular movement in and
around the metropolis, even as shops, offices, markets remained under lock and key.
Meanwhile, Defence Headquarters, DHQ, yesterday confirmed the return of normalcy to Ladi Kayamla and Maiduguri, saying troops were in full control of the situation.
The DHQ, which confirmed Wednesday’s attack through its Director of Defence Information, DDI, Maj-Gen. Chris Olukolade, said the band of terrorists who detonated two female suicide bombers ahead of their attack on Ladi Kayamla near Maiduguri, was routed by troops in the area.
The attack is being seen as diversionary, with the intention of slowing down the ongoing assault on Sambisa forest and was believed to have been carried out by those escaping from the terrorists’ locations that have been routed or destroyed.
“Normalcy has been restored as the troops conduct a mop up of the area while the offensive on all terrorists forest locations continue,” Olukolade said.

Nigerian Army To Dismiss 4,000 Soldiers Over Boko Haram

About 4,000 Nigerian soldiers will be dismissed for allegedly disobeying orders to fight Boko Haram insurgents.

One of the affected soldiers has told The Cable that the men are accused of flouting orders to fight terrorists during an operation conducted in Mubi, Adamawa state, in 2014.
Meanwhile, tension is reportedly growing in the northeast as soldiers and their families are in suppressed agitation over the possibility of being axed.

According to one of the accused soldiers, the men will be dismissed without trial.

“We are accused of disobeying orders to fight insurgents and also for allowing them to takeover Mubi town the last time. The army headquarters sent signal for our dismissal,” he said.

The source further explained that soldiers who allegedly failed to participate in the Mubi operation were from the second division, Ibadan, made up of 200 soldiers, first division, Kaduna, which has about 500 soldiers, and “some from the third division, Jos, among others”.

The source revealed that about 227 soldiers from the third division in Jos and four soldiers from the Lokoja division had already been dismissed.

“We are now facing a fresh allegation of supporting General Buhari during the last election. We have also been accused of celebrating Buhari’s victory,” he said.

The soldier has called on authorities to intervene in the matter, investigate it and save their jobs.

However, Colonel Sani Usman, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, has dismissed allegations by saying:

“I am not aware where you got the information from, and I am sure there is no such plan. How can the army sack people like that? There is a standard operational procedure if anybody is accused of anything. First and foremost, the person has to be charged and tried before a sentence will be passed.

“To the best of my knowledge, there is no such thing. I do not know where you got the number. Four thousand soldiers? For what?” Usman wondered.

Meanwhile, a group of Nigerian soldiers calling themselves patriotic officers, have written a letter to Goodluck Jonathan. The soldiers accused the president of imposing unprofessional generals on the Nigerian military, stressing that money budgeted to fight terrorists was actually spent arming the terrorists.

Boko Haram militants retook the Nigerian town of Marte in Borno state, which had been liberated in February, the state deputy governor said.“It is sad as we have been made to
understand that Marte is todaycompletely fallen under the control ofthe insurgents, which to us is a very huge set back,” Borno’s deputy governor Zannah Umar Mustapha said. The recapture of the town followed two strikes this week on state capital Maiduguri, which left at least 12 people dead.
Suspected militants also attacked the village of Kojiti, killing seven people in the Madagali local government of
neighbouring Adamawa state. It had been cleared of the Islamist militant group in late February. Boko Haram took over a territory larger than Belgium last year, killing thousands of people and displacing some 1.5 million. The group’s six-year insurgency is part of its bid to establish an Islamist state.
It took the combined efforts of Nigerian, Chadian and Nigerien troops to push Them out of most of the areas, while Cameroon repelled border attacks. The Sambisa forest reserve remains their last major stronghold.
“Our thinking was that every other place should have been blocked so that the insurgency would be curtailed to a
restricted area,” Mustapha said. “But that has not been the case because the insurgents have been fleeing to other
communities.”

2-Suicide bomber in northern Nigeria kills at least 7 - witnesses
Sat, May 16 11:22 AM EDT

DAMATURU, Nigeria, May 16 (Reuters) - A young female
suicide bomber blew herself up in Damaturu, the capital of
northern Nigeria's Yobe State, killing at least seven people
on Saturday, witnesses said.
The girl detonated the explosives at a busy market near a
bus station.
At least 27 people were wounded, many critically, and
ambulances continued to bring in the injured, said a Reuters witness at a nearby hospital.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast, but it bore the hallmark of Islamist militant group Boko Haram, which has been fighting a six-year insurgency in a bid to establish an Islamic state in northern Nigeria.
Boko Haram took over a territory larger than Belgium last
year, killing thousands of people and displacing some 1.5
million. The militants overran most of Borno state and parts
of Adamawa and Yobe.
But a Nigerian army offensive, backed by troops from Niger
and Chad, has recaptured most of the territory, forcing Boko Haram on the run. Cameroon has helped by repelling
advances in its border areas.
The frequency of raids and bomb attacks has significantly
decreased, but several attacks in the past week suggest that
the militants are returning to guerrilla warfare tactics.
Since Wednesday, they have attacked the outskirts of Borno
state capital Maiduguri twice, retaken the town of Marte in
the same state and attacked a village in neighbouring
Adamawa state.
The Nigerian army says it is working to root out Boko Haram
from its last stronghold in the vast Sambisa forest in eastern
Borno state. They have freed over 700 women and children
captured by the group but progress has been hampered by
the militants' widespread use of landmines. (Reporting by

Military Panics Over Renewed Attacks

. We’ve returned to drawing board, says Army

. ‘Latest attacks are mere distractions’

The Nigerian military has been gripped by panic following the new antics of Boko Haram insurgents and their renewed attacks in the North East.

Many lives, including those of soldiers, have been lost in the past few days as a result of the latest attacks by the terrorists group in some villages in the North East, thus shattering the relative peace that had returned to the area.

However, the Nigerian Army has said that there is no cause for alarm, vowing that the military could never be deterred by the new developments.

After losing ground to the security forces prosecuting the war in the North East, the insurgents, who had been very quiet, appeared to have restrategised and resurfaced with new antics seen in their renewed attacks in Borno State and other few places.

In the resumed attack, Boko Haram insurgents had, on Wednesday, night struck again in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, this time killing over 52 persons in various attacks on some communities within the precinct of the state capital.

About 13 persons were reported killed near Giwa Military Barracks in the town on Wednesday evening when six women who pretended to have escaped from Boko Haram captivity detonated the explosives strapped on them.

The Boko Haram terrorists who had been routed in recent times by the reinvigorated Nigerian military along with the troops from Niger, Chad and Cameroun had suffered massive attacks as their abodes including the notorious Sambisa forest had been bombarded by the military.

The continuous and coordinated bombardments had made the insurgents unable to plan and execute any significant attack in weeks.

Boko Haram further suffered a major setback when some of its members were reportedly killed in far away Iraq, an incident which has confirmed the touted link between Boko Haram and Islamic State (IS). A few days ago, a suicide bomber detonated a bomb in a school in Yobe State.

Reports said that the six adult female who carried out the attack, were seen by soldiers and some members of the youth vigilance group near the Army barracks.

But speaking with our correspondent, military sources at the Defence Headquarters, DHQ, said at present, the military had become very worried by the development and was back to the drawing board to redesign its strategies to address the menace.

“It is not a joke that these people are at it again. You can imagine when we are conquering and saying never again, suddenly, you are seeing all these attacks resurfacing. “Only God knows what these terrorists are planning and they seem not to be tired or even reduced in number in spite of how we are frustrating them and depleting their numbers.

“It is not funny. This has caused fresh worry for us in the military and we are again beginning to lose our sleep after we thought that we were seeing the end”, the source said.

However, another source at the Army Headquarters, AHQ, who preferred anonymity, said the Wednesday attack was just a distractions, which had already been nipped in the bud immediately.

“We are going to overcome all these very soon. We are more than ever determined, we are not deterred. It is very natural that the army cannot fear such attacks. We are very focused in the war and we are sure of victory very soon”, the source said. Only few days ago, Chadian President, Idris Debby, had warned when he visited Nigeria that Boko Haram was only weakened but not eradicated.

Equally, Saturday Mirror had reported that the continuous silence of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, and his whereabouts were giving serious worry to the military, as it is believed that Boko Haram could be planning unpleasant surprises.
