GAR3TH: Complete waste of funds and misplaced priorities. I still dont understand why these people build stadiums that no one can even afford to watch, just look at NPL matches. When the bulk of Anambra is yet to see any sign of development the state government will rather waste billions on a stadium. Pathetic fvck off! Your opinion is not valued here |
Re: FIFA, Anambra Govt. To Build International Stadium by GAR3TH(m): 1:12pm On Aug 17, 2012 |
kutchs: And you think the international stadium when built can not bring about this ur so called development? Listen serious govts do not concentrate all attention on one sector alone, diversiication is key to national development. Pple have kald for international world class sporting facilities to improve the dev. of sports in the country, why u cant view this in line with dat call is only known to you. I will say good job Obi, bring it to fruition and my Imo will tap in. Can you care to explain in detail how building a multi billion Naira stadium will lead to the development of Roads, schools, drainage, potable water, Security etc. Also can you care to explain how Anambra can afford to build a stadium with a yearly budget of only $65 billion naira ($400 million)? Do you know how much a world class stadium cost? Like I said misplaced priorities!!!! |

Good only if it is done. Mere propaganda. But if it is done, it is laudable. We dont really have good stadia in Nigeria. |

JideTheBlogger: yes, Ogidi is a nice location for that kind of project. Can't wait. Thank u my brother. Are u an Ogidi Inwelle? Indeed Ogidi is the perfect location for the stadium. It is one of the few towns in Anambra where two expressway passed through. It is highly accessible. It is home to the burstling building materials market. The town that produced Prof. Chinua Achebe and other notable individuals. The stadium will be located at the back of building materials market. That's where the old stadium used to be. With the ongoing Enugu-Osha reconstruction project, I have no doubt that Gov. Obi made a wise decision on the location of the project. Ogidi people are football crazy. If you add it to the love of football that Anambra people has for football, then u will know that Gov. Obi put his money where his mouth is. Since this will generate tremendous revenue for the state government. Add to the local economy. Create an untold employment opportunities for the people of the area. Anambra people especially Onitsha marketers are football crazy. I remember how we used to rush to Rojenny stadium, Oba to watch Jasper, Udoji, Garbros play. The stadium is always filled to its capacity. Again the location of the stadium is perfect since Ogidi is densely populated. In close proximity to Onitsha, Obosi, Nkpor, Amawbia and Awka. Moreover, Anambra deserves an International stadium that is located away from the administrative, commercial and technology capitals. By this stride, Anambra will effectively create a sports capital too. Thumbs up to Gov. Obi for this giant stride. |

Am happy for anambra ppl, alot of good news coming frm d state these days. I pray d state gets international airport b4 its completion...so they wont rely on asaba and enugu airport. BlackPikiN: Fifa Goal Project is funding the project but the Fifa Goal project does not build/fund large stadiums. They construct and fund Football pitches, facilities and programs to develop football in the region, they DO NOT build or fund large stadiums. So its either the newspaper is blowing things out of proportion and their just going to build a pitch and some facilities or the government is building a large stadium with fifa assisting. http://www.fifa.com/aboutfifa/footballdevelopment/projects/goalprogramme/index.html |
