CBN To Introduce N5,000 Note by Larufa(m): 7:26pm On Aug 23, 2012
The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced that it is going to introduce a N5,000 note into the system.

The faces of three prominent Nigerian female activists are to be used on the new note. They are those of late politician and social mobiliser, Margaret Ekpo (1914 - 2006); late politician and activist Hajia Gambo Sawaba (1933 - 2001) and late politician and women's right activist Funmilayo Kuti (1900 -1978).

i heard the logo of the national assembly is to be at the reverse side. If that is true, then i think its a wrong decision. Why not the benin bronze head instead. Why the national assembly whose property is already on the two naira coin and whose members are all 'rogues and thieves'

they are also going to make 5,10 and 20 naira coins. I do not think this is a good devment. It means that pure water will become expensive to buy becos no one would want to have somany coins clashing in his pocket.

How does this support the cashless economy? How does it promote it. Countries are engaging in policies that will give returns on investment our leaders are bent on rendering nigeria cashless. What is the essence of this if not share greed, wantoness and general madness.

Instead of him to redominate the naira by taking away two zeros and give the weak naira the needed pep, this 'aboki' will now cause inflation like never before. Haba! Cant the dude think and see the beauty in Soludo's plan?

Which plan are you taking about? Thesame Soludo that intentionally allowed Erastus Akingbola, Cecilia Ibru to loot over 3 hundred billion share holders funds? Abeg Soludo is a thief joor.

Well he allowed them loot - I do not support, but rescuing the banks is something else. As for his current policies, isn't it obvious his policies will destroy the economy?

This mallam has fully lost it! What is the usefulness of N5000 note in a cashless economy? Most of his policies are SMH. I would think mallam should come up with something that would empower naira and not a policy that would make a bottle of coke to be sold for 5times the current price!

I think mallam just got the award for the worst CBN governor ever.

The idea is not what it can buy because they are legal tender (MONEY), the idea is the quantity when tendered. That will force the market and economy to reevaluate it's pricing scheme to adjust circulating currencies...
