BlackBaron: Night mode was switched off for ALL those phones. The test was to see how good the pics would be on default settings. Afterall, the Lumia 920 has a night mode setting too... |

Seriously am really tired of all lumia 920 fanboys, I don't find anything special in this phone. The only thing it has better than other wp8 phones, is just camera and probably design, bt HTC 8x also looks equally beautiful. The other so called features are just marketing gimmicks.prove me wrong if u can. Galaxy s3, note 2 remain kings 4 nw.till Optimus g arrives. Wp8 and it's non customizable boring metro ui tiles still has a long way to go. Before the mass market consider it to be a worthy alternative to android and ios |

Overlord999: Gosh I hate those tiles Don't even go there. Those tiles are one of the most unique in the smartphone OS world. The ability to go from icon to tile is a very nice customisation imho. |

Overlord999: Seriously am really tired of all lumia 920 fanboys, I don't find anything special in this phone. Your obviously allergic to the advancing mobilesphere technology, if the above was an 100 % view you hold unto tenaciously . . . . What makes the 920 special . . A) The pureview technology which enables the 920 performs admirably well in very low lit environs . . .there are tons of demos correlating with their claims B) The floating camera technology only present in the Lumia 920 also makes it unique. The floating camera tech ensures adequate image stabilization despite shakes which might result to blurred imagery . .it also makes the Lumia 920 a mini tripod-stand device to capture smooth and steady videos . .with this singular provision, everyone becomes a pro in video capturing . . . C) The Lumia 920 has the best screen display in the industry and the usuai clear black display of Nokia ensures sun light eligibility is delivered satisfactorily D) The Lumia 920 is the first smartphones in the world to use a new advanced multi-touch experience based on the Synaptics ClearPad capacitive touchscreen sensing technology. This ensures optimum functionality with any object deemed capable of interfacing with your 920 e.g gloves, pens, finger nails e.t.c . . . E) The wireless charging innovation also come in handy as the industry first . .watch the competition also incorporate this into their device F) Nokia maps has the best offering on any mobile . . .And Microsoft is latching unto this feat to power all Win Phone 8 devices . . . .Need i say more, even BMW and Amazon recently signed deals with Nokia to meet their navigation needs . . . .tells you a lot about the potent advantage Nokia has in the navigation industry . . . . Overlord999: Wp8 and it's non customizable boring metro ui tiles still has a long way to go. Before the mass market consider it to be a worthy alternative to android and ios You obviously aint aware that the added functionality of the metro tile in WP8 is the ability to customize them to your taste . .a feature they are planning to push to the Lumia Mango devices (Lumia 800,710,610,900) in their planned 7.8 update features . . . . |
Re: Nokia Lumia 920...finally A Smartphone From Nokia That Can Compete! by Overlord999(m): 11:30am On Sep 30, 2012 |
A) yes camera is great bt it doesn't blow out the competition like nokia 808 did. Not everyone is a camera freak. As proven by the poor sales of nokia 808. Not everyone cares, as always a low to mid end dslr will always beat the cameras of the high end smartphones available. So if you truly want an awesome camera your better off with a dslr camera C) can you please explain how lumia 920 has the best screen on the market. Sure it's sunglight legibility might be the best(if it manages to be brighter than iphone5 & less reflective ) yeah its great 4 a screen to be legible in very bright conditions. But seriously who uses his phone in sun light. Nothing really special D) well gloves, might be useful for some, in cold regions. As for finger nails, maybe girls might be happy with it. Well it's a good thing, but nothing special. E) wireless charging, samsung galaxy s3 has that F)I don't give a damn about any maps. They are basically useless to us nigerians. They suck too much data. So nothing special to us. As for metro ui been customizable. I didn't know it was. But android it's still far far ahead in that aspect. The point am trying to make is that lumia 920 is a great phone, but not as special die hard nokia fans make it out. It's not better than galaxy s3 or HTC one x. They Are all equally great smartphones. It's all a matter of personal preferences |

Overlord999: A) yes camera is great bt it doesn't blow out the competition like nokia 808 did. Texazz has done enough to show how the 920 blows away the competition with the I5 the obvious runner up when put to the test . . .Even your GS3 never even came close in the Engadget lab test. The Lumia 920 also outclassed the Pureview 808 in the same lab test ran by engadget . . . .You can't deny obvious plain facts Overlord999: A)Not everyone is a camera freak. As proven by the poor sales of nokia 808. Not everyone cares, as always a low to mid end dslr will always beat the cameras of the high end smartphones available. In life having the best of everything in a convenient fashion is always great and highly valued . . A reason why miniaturizing tech are the in thing among techie manufacturers . .There are people who have certain requirement and having a powerful device as the 920 with a killer camera to booth is a winner . . Giving excuses for not matching up to the competition Nokia is providing is not only funny but hypocritical, cos it"s coming from a fandriod who love dissing the IOS users Overlord999: So if you truly want an awesome camera your better off with a dslr camera Going by your weak logic . .It's like asking you :- why you need to browse the net on your device when your better off using a netbook with much better speed and processing power to booth Why watch HD movies on your device when you are better off using your multi inches LED TV, cos of the vivid crystal, & crispy images it provides Why play games on your device when your better off using a gaming console like the PS3 or the X box with better gaming experience You see how desperate your given excuses are Overlord999: A) Now that is shameful to ask . .Please refrain from making such pronouncement . . . .The innate ability to use your phone under any given environmental condition is a great advantage, hence it's something really special Overlord999: Now the above is very childish, cos am sensing your strenuously grasping at a non existent straw to counter an undeniable innovation made possible by the 920 Overlord999: Accepted . . . Overlord999: Fixed Your obviously a Nigerian who is not conversant with salient tools of a smart phone . .one of my criteria for buying any smart phone is the GPS offering and Nokia maps excels in that . . I know loads of Nigerians who don't joke with their maps.I personally depend solely on maps to execute my research projects . . . Overlord999: They suck too much data. So nothing special to us. Nokia maps are offline offers which doesn't require mauling of data bandwidth to get simple things done . . .Go use a Nokia map and educate yourself properly . . . .You are obviously lacking grasp of available offerings outside your andriod cubicle Overlord999: As for metro ui been customizable. I didn't know it was. But android it's still far far ahead in that aspect. Agreed Overlord999: The Lumia 920 is an awesome device which destroys your SG3 in build, design, gorgeousness, and capability . . .Yes, the HTC One X can match the sexy appeal of the Lumia 920 device 4 Likes |

I see lot of nokia fanboys here. Hoping one day Nokia can become glorious again . Well will have to wait for sales to do the talking. Galaxy note, Which was considered a niche smartphone outsold the entire lumia phones, how pathetic And for the record I don't own a galaxy s3. Waiting for note 2(which absolutely blows lumia 920 out of the water) |

Overlord999: I see lot of nokia fanboys here. Hoping one day Nokia can become glorious again . Well will have to wait for sales to do the talking. Galaxy note, Which was considered a niche smartphone outsold the entire lumia phones, how pathetic And for the record I don't own a galaxy s3. Waiting for note 2(which absolutely blows lumia 920 out of the water) I'm beginning to see a trend where when rabid fanboys loose focus of what to say they turn around and start calling others fanboys. FYI none of us are using Lumia phones. We just appreciate good stuff when we see it. Do you know who a fanboy is? Its someone who believes that nothing out there is better than what he has or uses and any new or exciting stuff he does not have is not useful until he has it. Its a shame you can't think for yourself and form an independent opinion instead you go online and copy and paste stuff like I don't like tiles, I would rather have a dslr, I don't need maps. How pathetic! Can you state your purpose of coming to this thread cos so far all I can see from you (apart from shouting that Lumia 920 is not worth it) is utter and total ignorance. You said the phones features are gimmics? Perhaps you should tell us just few ways how you come to the conclusion that GS III is king. Lastly if you grade phones based on units sold, then you would be a fool to be using an android device. I hope you know that both the GS III and the note come no where iPhones in terms of sales. Worse still is the fact that apple gets 75% of smartphone profit all on its own. So I'm still wondering where your note falls. Lastly, you should state how the note 2 blows the lumia away. I hope you know that very few features of WP8 are currently known. So starting from the hardware to the part of the software that is known (like maps) why don't you tell us how the note (which is a phablet) is better than this phone. Next time you shouldn't leave your comfort zone. |

Somebody is pissed off. From the list features you wrote for lumia 920,its seems like you are the one copying and pasting from online sites. And yes some of its features are just marketing c Gimmicks . Like puremotion hd(which is just Clearblack renamed to something fancier, so that they can draw attention ), 60hz refresh rate. Amoleds refresh rate has always been at 60hz. So nothing new. As for iphone having higher sales if you can remove your fanboys Googles and think 4 a moment you should realize that anybody that wants the IOS experience has no choice but to buy an iphone, its only place you can get that. As for a android, there to many oem making android phones. Imagine if galaxy s3 was the only high end android phone available. It's sales would be equally or higher than iphone. I would be waisting my time trying to prove note 2 is better than lumia 920. |

Overlord999: Somebody is pissed off. This is what I call incoherent speech. Its no use explaining Puremotion HD+ to you since you would rather have a DSLR than a good camera on a phone. Its funny you think that if GS III was the only android available, it would come near the iPhone. Why not start by tell me why just the iPhone and iPad rake in 75% of profits and the whole android crew is left to scrape the rest. Or you can start by telling me why almost all android OEMs apart from Samsung are either making losses or making very minimal profit. Lastly, I'm not asking you to prove why Note 2 is better But why you think that GS III and Note 2 are undoubtedly the best devices around. It shouldn't be so hard for the guru. |

jmaine: Built to last The video is very impressive but it really didn't surprise me knowing fully well it's a Nokia product. I wonder whether it's so hard to make quality stuff that many other OEMs continue making expensive high end but fragile devices. |

Re: Nokia Lumia 920...finally A Smartphone From Nokia That Can Compete! by jedisco(m): 1:16pm On Nov 16, 2012 |
jmaine: Not really. At least Samsung products are not that expensive comparatively. Their problem is their cheap build and lack of any aesthetic appeal. If you look at apple, they clearly have beautiful devices with good build but are really fragile. What I can say is that with this device, Nokia (as always) found a good mix of looks, build and strength. |
