Hey folks, some days ago Nokia Nigeria posted on facebook that they're going to bring alot of colours to Nigeria on Tuesday. "On Tuesday, we’ll bring loads of colors to Nigeria… :-)" I thought it was going to be the lumia 510 but to my surprise, I just logged into facebook and saw their new update together with this picture. "The Nokia Lumia 920 is Coming to Nigeria! Like This? Share This! :-)" http://m.facebook.com/NokiaNigeria?ref=stream&refid=17&_ft_=fbid.452394488130225

Bawss1: One can get it overseas but that would be too much of a hassle I think my above post is good news for you and other folks who are waiting for this device. Its good Nokia have decided to stop bitching around certain markets and now make their products available globally. |

pls who has any idea when d phone lld hit d market cos what im seeing on the site is somehow its lyk 475pounds lyk 125k thats kinda expensive.... Damon03: This device 'might' nt sell as much as the iphone 5 cos american are obsessed with iphone, but apart from market share it sure beats the best android phone, sgs3, and sure will beat even 2017 edition BB |

jmaine: Exclusive to MTN . . . .That's quite restrictive . . . . I saw that yesterday but didn't really give it a thought until I saw an MTN advert today on they bringing windows phone 8 to Africa. It's good they're doing some advertising themselves. It's been quite a very long time since I've come across all this exclusive and locked phone stuff. I personally think it's senseless for we in Nigeria except if its going to be well subsidised. |

European and UK prices contain about 25% tax as part of the price. The unlocked price in the US better corresponds. To put things in perspective, you can compare its price to that of Galaxy S III at launch. All-in-all, it should be priced between 90 and 100k |

What's all this MTN exclusive nonsense? My plan was to get the 920 for my Etislat line. If its locked to MTN then it better be subsidised. Na wa o. |

The New Nokia Lumia 920 is being launched today @ Silverbird Galleria. Still waiting for the word on pricing though. As for the MTN exclusive thingy, I don't think they will be locking the phone to MTN only. I think its more of MTN taking the lead on the device & pushing it to its subscribers by offering unique data rates/call plans & maybe bundled plans etc. The era of locking a phone to a network in Nigeria is long gone. If Nokia dare try that, they are killing their product.

Well, according to some users on the facebook page of Nokia Nigeria. The Nokia Lumia 802 is gonna cost N82,000 and the Lumia 920 N105,000. That's a huge disappointment if it turns out to be true as the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note II Cost Less Than That. Still waiting for official confirmation though. |

we all have to accept Nokia have been in the phones business enough to make nice phones , and resilient ones too. competition wise, IPhone is American so you know what that means , the superpower wins, personally I think IPhones are overpriced and their environment too controlled , but at the end of the day ....IPHONE wins, its just a cult |

DArkWhiteSoul: we all have to accept Nokia have been in the phones business enough to make nice phones , and resilient ones too. competition wise, IPhone is American so you know what that means , the superpower wins, personally I think IPhones are overpriced and their environment too controlled , but at the end of the day ....IPHONE wins, its just a cult I don't buy that argument. Not everything is about America or being a super power. Sometimes, it's just a matter of demand & supply. The natural market forces at work. Nokia has no one to blame for its failure but itself. Same thing that's happening to RIM (Maker's of BlackBerry). Apple sells its devices because people buy them. You cannot deny the quality & finish of an Apple device. Even their critiques can attest to that. Therefore, to see Nokia attempting to follow suit on a device like Nokia Lumia 920 is a disappointment when they should be luring subscribers with lower prices. At N105,000, that's too much in my opinion, comparing the price range with other Android devices. Plus it won't get them new customers for Windows Phone 8 when Android has already an established presence, |

^^^^Well I think what Nokia and MS need to do is take a cue from Sammy's book (and their own previous experience) and introduce a slew of devices ranging from budget smartphones to high end ones so that people will have a feel of WP8 at price points that are affordable to them. I am of the opinion that this method has successful helped both Nokia and Samsung reach (at different times) No.1 mobile phone company in the world. |
Re: Nokia Lumia 920...finally A Smartphone From Nokia That Can Compete! by Bawss1(m): 5:27am On Nov 21, 2012 |
DArkWhiteSoul obviously hasn't seen the legion of features that make the 920 just as good as the iPhone if not it's killer. The iPhone being American is an absolutely mute point. Start reading this thread from the first page to understand what we are talking about. Anyways on to other issues, if the speculation that the 920 will sell for >N100K is true then how does that help Nokia by offering it exclusively on MTN? I still don't get it. |

aieromon: Any word yet on the official price? The Lumia 920 costs N105,000, while the 820 costs N82,000. Pre-order is on and can be done at any MTN centre. The devices will hit the Nigerian market in December. |

N105K. Hmmm. Not an unreasonable price but it makes no sense to lock the phone to MTN. |

Bawss1: N105K. Hmmm. Not an unreasonable price but it makes no sense to lock the phone to MTN. MTN says it is not going to be sim locked, all they have is a 3 month exclusive sale deal with Nokia. I think it is too pricey for a system trying to gain wide adoption. Anyway MS have said their strategy is to increase market share in 5% increments. |

Samsung Galaxy Note II N99,000 & Samsung Galaxy SIII N87,999 (www.). Both devices come with Android OS. Now, with the asking price of N105,000 on the Nokia Lumia 920 and which won't be in stores till Dec and only to MTN subscribers, Nokia is making a HUGE mistake to say the least in marketing the Nokia Lumia 920. Windows Phone 8 is still an emerging platform needing more time to mature. The lower price point will have been an added advantage to attract new customers to the platform. The Android OS is a mature platform and will serve as an alternative in my opinion. |

I'll start off by saying that I wish the price were cheaper too but I don't think selling the 920 at 105K is a huge mistake. The price you quoted for the Samsung GSIII is its current price after over 6 months in the market! It is safe to assume that in the near future the price for the Lumia 920 will fall into the 90-99K neighborhood. This is Nokia's flagship after all and it's still way cheaper than the iPhone 5 which starts out at ~180K. There are other models from Nokia which will cater for the those with a lower budget. 1 Like |

This phone is similarly priced with other flagship devices especially if yo take into consideration the 6 month free data. The MTN SGS III with 3 months data was thesame price. The only problem I've got is its exclusivity. After 3 months when it would be generally available, the price would still be high cos it would just be new to the market then. Almost like the problem with the current lumias. But if MTN adequately advertise it, then it may be worth it. 1 Like |

Lord_Reed: It would drop but that may be after about 5-6 months instead of the usual 3 months. But the market launch price would be cheaper than what MTN is offering. |

omodapson: The phone is amazingly very tough........ The car drive over test, Barton smash and the over 60 ft elevation throw was easily handled by the 920 |
