While schooling in Ghana around 2005 b/4 d redenomination of d Ghanaian cedis, I remember paying 10,000 cedis for just a meal & 70,000 cedis to buy recharge cards. What of Zimbabwe? But introduction of coins will be d worst cos bottle water seeling for 50 naira will jump to 100 naira. Even pure water will be scarce. I notice dat what d fed govt & cbn define as inflation is quite different from what d Nigerians see. Those @ d helms of affairs are 2 academic.

He got F9 in management too, and had 1A in cancerruption- lawlessness, maladministration, mismanagement, vision less, archaic ....Got p7 in international politics,,,A1 also in incest-driving force!

He once said ' am the father of all Nigerians... therefore he got another F9,,, because he's a careless father that can not take care of his stubborn children 'Nigerians'

And as for you Gov SLS, YOU ARE GONNA BE WORST THAN BABA, AND BECOME A FAILED ECONOMIST IF YOU DARE PRINT THIS UR INTENDED N5,000 NOTE.... DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU, YOU ARE GONNA BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU EVER AUTHORIZE THE PLAN, AND LATER SAY IT IS CBN DAT DID.....FOR NOW, YOU ARE SINGING JAIL SONGS MY BRO!

He said that the cost of printing and minting all
denomination of currency in 2009 was N47
billion and that by 2011 the CBN brought this
cost down to N32 billion. He said that by 2014 the cost would further
be reduced to N25 billion thereby saving
about 50 percent of the total cost of printing
and minting all denomination of currency. Mr Sanusi said the N5000 note would not cost
more than N3 billion to print.
less input, reduced minting, more suffering, pls correct me if am wrong

My brother, twist it however you want but the truth is that, that was what he actually meant. He may not have said it in those exact words but go and listen to his speech again and you'll CLEARLY see that was exactly what he insinuated. We are not small children or dullards that somebody will come and be saying "he didn't actually say so so". I'll be ashamed if OBJ himself comes out to say that. He definitely won't.

Chief, here is the link. He clearly said, APART from the N5000 introduction, what else is he managing? Then he talked about Inflation. There is no way in the world OBJ could have meant intoduction of N5000 will cause inflation. He was actually talking about the opposite i.e SLS should not just focus on controlling inflation. He should focus on other things...

I have always trusted SLS's judgement and I have no doubts that N5000 is a good idea. My reservation is with conversion to coins of the lower denominations. I hate coins!

Obasanjo did this, did that more than any other Nigerian leader, have you forgotten he served longer than any other Nigerian leader? And at both times led this country through difficult times? Whether you accept it or not, Obasanjo made more impact and understand Nigeria than any other past or present leader. He is Nigeria's best leader so far. And YES! He has his own inadequacies.

Any one in support of the production of N5000 note must be blind. This is Nigeria where we have no control of the currencies in circulation. In other countries d higher denominations are rarely seen or used by its citizens except for special transactions but here in nigeria every1 will be seen with N5000 note once its produced and in no time it will lose its value.

Yes,what assertion did Obj make? Answer that question if you know nothing about how an economy works why not 'ask around' than make a mess of this issue.

The issue on printing of the new higher denominations of 5k and the likes is a fall back position to the failure of nigeria's economic and monetary policies not even caused by SLS himself but previous regimes.

As an Economist,il reveal this to you...nigeria has an economy where foreign exchange market is monopolised by the cbn,the cbn is the only key player and that has caused all you happening, and then again the cbn is a different entity from the mof both operating apart this truthfully is an error. We talk some more later pls.

Though the 5000k Is a normal thing but Nigeria at dis stage did not need such a thing.. In Undevelop Country like Nigeria the 5000k will help the Rich but affect the poor " for instant a guy working as a sales boy collecting 5000k as salary, in which by the End of each Month, the Boy always take 1000k in 5 places and in now come to stage where the guy collected just a note of 5000k imagine how useless the Guy will think of the Amount. It will disvalue of naira... Pls dnt agree to dis

Mehn, am partially against the printing of that N5,000 note but is not what we need now what angers me most is the taughut of converting 5, 10, 20 naira notes into coins.

ACM10: Why does Sanusi wield so much power? Where are those powers when Soludo was at the helm? Is Sanusi really answerable to the president or himself?
abeg help me ask, when Soludo was trying to reduce inflation everyone shouted him down, and kicked him out, now Sanusi is defying everyone, including the senate, and the only thing they're doing is poking him with a ten foot pole.
