hmm, I think Nigerians are confused. When Soludo in 2007 said re-denomination the
currency, that will make $1 to equall abt #1.50k they all shouted No! No!.
Now Sanusi said the answer is #5000 and may be nxt yr he will introduce #10,000 and #20,000 single note. Them Nigeria will be like Zimbabwe that have $100 trillion banknote.
Which way Nigerian?
Soludo: http://www.thenationonlineng.net/archive2/tblnews_Detail.php?id=28359 zimbabwe: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zimbabwean_dollar

but i honestly think re-denomination will is better.

What do you expect from a developing country like ours, this #5000 note will not work for such a country. If anything can be done about it please let be done quickly.

I got no problem with the introduction of 5000 naira note but please nothing should be changed to coins.
Changing lower notes into coins is what makes this idea stupid

Sometime i wonder what a man who's Msc is being questioned is doing in Nigeria's apex bank.A man that lacks the basic principle of economics siting in a position reserve for professors or at least doctors of economics.Nawa o i tire oo.. please my advice for him is that he should go and teach Islamic studies in Jss 3 since he has achieve one of his missions. we all know that he is a time bomb set by some illiterate fools. well thank God that JESUS is alive, he will be put to shame. whether 5000 note or not they that trust in God will not be put to shame.

thelastPope: How do you implement a cashless economy by introducing a currency note that makes it easier for people to carry cash? Can't just get my head around it. Its got to be the irony of the year!
I like more of WORD base(bible) issues.''I am a good bible student by HIS grace but a bad economist-M.K.O.
But if i can put something forward on this one,i think scrapping 200,500 and 1000 naira notes will help the cashless policy and if at at all we should think of 5,000 naira let it be in coins ! Reasons is becos if people think of the stress of carrying 1 million naira in like 5 Ghana must go,they will prefer a swift or other bank transfer as against 5,000 naira note that wil see one carrying as much as 2.5 million naira on him without any kind of bag.
If you consider the load and weight 2.5 million naira in coins will put on you,you won't go near it even if it's in circulation. This for sure will help the cashless society.

NO MATTER WHAT OUR OPINION ARE IT THUS NOT REALLY MATTER, COS THEY ALL-WAYS SEE'S THINGS BETTER THAN US OF WHICH THE END RESULT IS FAILURE. ANY ECONOMIC POLICY THAT FAILS TO PUT IT'S LOCAL ENVIRONMENT INTO CONSIDERATION BUT ON PAPER STATISTICS WILL END UP IN FAILURE. GEJ AND SANUSI KNOWS IT ALL, SO NA MAKE WE SIDDON THEY LOOK........

my conspiracy theory. grin grin

Sanusi was looking for a confrontation between him and jonathan so he could leave the job on a high note, but jonathan did not give him the attention he wanted. he wants to leave as the CBN governor and the saviour of the Talakawa (poor people) who confronted the infidel president. so, by the time his tenure as CBN gov is finished, Boko-haram must have assassinated Ado Bayero, then he will become the Talakawa's emir. grin grin grin
Far-fetched

So converting N5, N10 and N20 to coins is perfect economics

Experience has shown that Nigerians do not make use of coins. Even if Sir-anu-nsi wants to print N10,000 note, i do not care. So the poor should stop using N5, N10 and N20

The man should get lost. When you run a post without the people's support, you are a damn failure.

I dont support d idea of changing N5, N10, N20 and N50 into coins cs from my experience as a true-Nigerian, once they are changed now, a satchet pure water wld increase to N100. As for d N5000, let it be turned into a coins. Lets move Nigeria foward and not backwards. I pray that Our Lord Jesus Christ wld take control of us amen
