Shaw007: Jesus death was a human sacrifice, he was human, he was killed, he was on a suicide mission. The motive or purpose doesn't matter. Sacrifice na sacrifice. If u say that the traditionals used to sacrifice people in order to appease the gods, Yahweh sacrificed his own son to appease himself.. But of course God is Good, his messes(farts) endureth forever.. |

OP i completely agree with u. Just to digress a little, Nigeria is giving too much attention to entertainment and the price is underdevelopment.Young people are driven by what the society gives so much attention to. Scientific mind is developed from young age. And youth generally pay more attention to what they see is mostly celebrated in d society they belong. In country like japan and other asia countries academic ability in sciences is one of the greatest pride in those countries. As a result parents put pressure on their kids to focus.since the asia countries started dis practice, their development has be so fast and high. Europe and america was once like d asia countries when they were developing. But as prosperity came to them, they abandon those values. Today they are paying d price with serious economic recession. The few couintries that escape recession in euro zone is Germany because Germany is a strong machine manufacturing country. Nigeria case is pathetic. We are poor, hungry and underdeveloped. We are already jumping into glamour and entainment that can only employ very few people in d society. All dis company like MTN, airtel, glo don't care about dis country. They promote all dis shows simply to make profit. Nigeria development is not their concern. We want to live like america. America supuriority in the world is not because of entertainment but because of the strenght of technology in the US. America movies are good because of high tech.America millitary is so high tech that d whole world respect them. Most innovations comes from the US. These tins were done by d older generations. The New US generations just want to sit and enjoy what their father has labored for. That is why Obama is shouting. Trying his best to revive the interest of youth on science. No wonder in his campaign this year he said america needs 100,000 additional science teachers. he didnt say 100,000 aditional teachers. he was specific. he said 100,000 science teachers. because he knows if US continue the way it is today with lack of interest in science and education among the youth, US will go down and china will take over. If US can be thinking like this, who then is Nigeria? A country must put emphasis on development before too much attention on shallow tins like entertainment. Entertainment is not bad. It is needed in the society. But it must not be allowed to take away almost all the viable youth in the society. Almost evry young girl in nigeria want to be a model, actor, showbiz specialist etc. While evry young boy want to be a musician, yahoo boy, politician and pastor. Tell me how will d country grow with dis mind set. Get rich quick mentality will make few rich and the whole nation poor!!!! All we do in naija is consumption. We produce almost notin because we lack the technical know how and the will to produce. All we are good at is "i better pass my neighbour because i dey use blackberry while he do use nokia torch light, i dey drive range rover sport while he they drive gulf 4". what a poor mentality we have? Note: i am a nigerian who lives in nigeria who earns above 500k a month and who has been to atleast three european countries.but i see myself as poor because the society i live in is poor. u cannot be rich in poor society because u face the problem the poor face-bad road, insecurity, fear of the future, bad governance, iiliteracy etc. the aluu4 case is a clear case. the four boys were from ecomically viable home (rich home). the four boys got swag and class. but the society they live in was poor, evil, wicked and uneducated. and as such they suffered from the evil of poverty and illiteracy!!! 2 Likes |

Desola: Nollywood is the mirror image of the ibo man. It is not the true depiction of Nigerians but of Biafrans. Unfortunately, other Nigerians can't explain that to non-Nigerians as the power of the media is so strong and the okoro man has control of that. Glorifying the powers of charms and amulets mirrors which tribe? |
Re: What Nollywood Tells Us About Nigeria by ACM10: 10:01am On Oct 19, 2012 |
Desola:Should that be nepotism or meritocracy? What do you say when you see Omotola Jolade, Olu Jacobs, etc? Producers and Marketers can put anyone as part of the cast and crew that can make their movie to sell. Tribalism or nepotism has nothing to do with that. Their decision is influenced by the power of the market. That's why you see Aki & Pawpaw, Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Noah, Peter Edochie, Segun Arinze, etc appearing in several movies in a year. Cos they they move the market favourably! |

Shaw007: ur a waste of space, seriously. . .u talked about traditional religions and their spirituality,i pointed out sometin peculiar about them, and then u mentioned witchcraft, and i duly cleared the confusion. . .Now ur saying ur nt interested in sometin u actually brought up?? No, it is you who are confused seriously, because you are constantly confusing religion with spirituality. We are not talking about the same thing here. Religion is opposed to spirituality. You are constantly doing the same mistake that many people are doing. Religion is the banana skin and spirituality is the banana. The misery in the world today is because religious people throw away the banana and are holding on to the skin. Again read all my previous posts and notice that I was talking about spiritulality and not about religion. Both are opposed to each other. You are the one who started talking about slaughtering and abomination etc in this thread, NOT ME (Please read again all your previous posts accurrately). I talk about spirituality and you are constantly talking about religion, slaughtering and all kind of abominations that are the opposite of spirituality . 1 Like |

@atbu1983, you are just right on spot! I couldn't done it better than you did! We(Nigerians) should remove this mentality of getting rich quick and do things our children will be proud of. I asked a kid, what he would like to be when he grows older, he response 'i will be a rich man with plenty houses and cars. What would you do (profession) to acquire such wealth ? He muted for a couple of seconds and said anything. My point is the kid doesn't know what he wants to become tomorrow but certainly knows he wants to own houses and cars! It's that bad. we all have jobs to do by giving old and young, especially the Younger ones orientation of how we should take Nigeria to the next level through science and technology. Else what we are seeing now will be childs play for our tomorrow. |
