Hello mates,
I applied to HTW in Berlin, Germany and got an admission to study MSc. Construction and Real Estate Management. However, it is an exchange program in which I have to spend my 1st & 2nd semester in Metropolia UAS, Helsinki, Myllypuro Campus and my 3rd & 4th semster in HTW Berlin.
Here are my worries; from my research, I learnt that since my point of first entry is Finland, I have to apply for visa through the Finland embassy. I have gone to read different articles online about the visa application/processes.
1. How do I prove my means of sustainability? Can I use a block account just like the Germany style or a Nigeria bank statement is sufficient?
2. I saw legalization of documents, how important is this and where and how can it be done? Which documents should be legalized?
3. When I checked the "https://visa.finland.eu/nigeria/Online-Application-form.html" for visa category, I could only see (research/training), does student visa falls under this category?

I’m not familiar with Germany processes but for Finland this is how to get your RP & i believe it might cover you for your Germany studies( The most important is for you to start your studies & you will figure the remaining out later.

1. To prove your means of sustainability as a student in Finland , you can use a sponsor that will deposit an equivalent of 6720 Euros (560 Euros per month X 12 months for a year RP) in Naira into your Nigerian bank account. The money has to be there for the duration of your application & you can remove it apply you get your RP. The sponsor might be anybody you know not necessary your family but he/she must have a good Statement of Account (SOA) because the sponsors SOA will be submitted also at the point of RP application.

2. To legalize your documents, go to any court in Nigeria for Certify True Copy stamp on the photocopies of your credentials ( you must go with the original for them to see it)
Documents to be legalized
Photocopies of all credential, IELTS result, passport data page ,birth certificate and relevant documents
Check the last 2 pages for my comments on this with picture

3. Finland gives Residence Permit (RP)for study not visa. For you to apply for RP,application is done online through https://enterfinland.fi/eServices
where you will upload all your documents .
After that, you will apply for biometric & documents submission at VFS global in Abuja before the will give you appointment date to Finland Embassy in Abuja for interview. The interview is less than 10 minutes .

As a student that doesn't have degree , the type of job you will get is manual related jobs like working in supermarket , trashing waste bins at train stops, Newspaper distributor in early hours of the day , cleaning of offices among others. Most of these jobs are done within 2 to 3 hours.

You will earn a decent pay that will be able to cater for your house rents, bills & welfare.
Mind you house rent is paid monthly & it ranges from 100k & above .
Dont ever have the mind of making it quickly if you get there but you will be okay & live a decent life for someone that is still in school . My advice

Every document you send with the application has to be notarized(CERTIFIED TRUE COPY) just to show that it is authentic especially since you are sending photocopies to them. You can do the notarization in Ikeja High Court or any court close to you. You will spend like 3k for all the documents

Attached is an example of fully notarized birth certificate & To whom it may concern letter written to show he had practical experience .
Every application differs based on your experience

oga stop giving people wrong information here,Finland doesn't require any certification of documents.

We can learn how to be civil here.. If you think an information given is misleading, you can always express a correction in a very subtle and matured tone. There is nothing wrong in saying; "From my experience, I am sure (if you are 100% sure) the Finland embassy does not require a certified copy of your documents" and probably follow up with prove. No one is an island. I read from here "https://naijagoingabroad.com/apply-finland-student-visa-nigeria/" and it says a legalized document is important.

There are other vocational schools in Finland though they have different requirements like you coming to Finland for your interview before you are admitted.

You can check out Helsinki business college, they are conducting interviews on Skype for now due to Coronavirus.

Thank God someone is filling the form right now on this platform. It was because of the issue they had with the website this January,2021 that they added the extra 12 days.

On Legalization of documents , i called it Certify True Copy & the cost is like 3k. Is that wasting of money ?
