This is not cold war, this is a war that started b4 the emergence of the present world leaders. The two sides are fighting a war that is as ancient as its existence. This war has been fought by great-great fore fathers grand from both sides. Even in peace, they are at war. The Arab world will not rest until the Zionist are eliminated, this has been the core of the war. One the other side, the Zionists are ever on their toes. They would spill the blood of anyone that supports its sworn enemies. As it is, i doubt if Israel can sustain a war with its arab neighbors for more than a year not with most of its allies having to battle with the global economic crisis. In 1948, a coalition of Arab states attacked Israel. Israel more or less won the war after a year of fighting, but the UN's Armistice line required Israel to give some of its territory, specifically some strategically valuable territory that put major population centers in Israel at risk, back to the countries from which it was taken. In 1967, these same Arab states started mobilizing their militaries to try again. Israel noticed this and struck first, taking back the land it had had to give back in the UN Armistice, and then some. In 1973, these same states (minus Jordan) attacked AGAIN, and Israel barely managed to survive. So no... Israel didn't "occupy" anyone's land. They won it in self defense, not once, but three separate times. Name any other UN agreement where someone who was attacked was forced to capitulate and return land to the aggressor that just tried to wipe them off the map. |
