Andre Uweh:
It's true, but it should have been Suleija or Lokoja instead of a barren land called Abuja.
I am not even saying carving a place for the FCT is wrong, all I am saying was that he was too 'in a hurry' that move favoured few of his cronies, and plunged Nigeria in to terrible debts!

Islam predated the 19th century but its more or less unknown exactly how widespread it was in the centuries before then.

I shall not put a cent on fellow who publicly claimed that Christopher Alexander Sapara Williams and Dr. Nathaniel King were Yoruba. I did not know Yoruba people have Creoles too.

the term creole is not used by most places in africa besides liberia and sierra leone.

I have objections against nos. 16 & 19. People have corrected no. 19 to my satisfaction. For no. 16, the correct record should have been that eclipse of the sun by the moon was first observed scientifically and with awareness that year as stated. This phenomenon must have being occurring since beginning of time. Furthermore, Islam infiltrated South of Sahara through transsaharan trade from Morocco when such goods as hide and skin, colanut were transported to the port, bound for Europe and such goods as niddle, mirrors etc were supplied to our people.

Really? I never knew that! But who introduced the religion then? Any clue?

Islam was introduced by traders from North Africa. Remember that there were alot of trading between the two regions. From the Maghreb through Timbuktu, Gold coast etc to Northern Nigeria especially Gobir-the Birthplace of Dan Fodiyo.

True... The CV of some of the major players in the first republic is quite scary... Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, LSE, Imperial College, MIT, Kings College, Warwick etc. and most of them graduated with 1st class degrees... If those people at that time in our history could be so brilliant(and they overachieved, to be honest) - how come this generation is so messed up?? angry angry
Read CVS of Dr. Kachiku or Ogbonnaya Onu. It is not by CV, it is about commitment to serve and willing followers. The main issue in Nigeria is the rise of primordial allegiance and decline in nationalistic fervor

The truth is we still have many brilliant minds amidst us but the failure of our past leaders to discourage short cut to 'monetary gains' bastardized the whole show, now 'great minds' who ought to continue in their chosen path of the academics veer off the track to chase money, why? Money is the in-thing now no more 'the die-hard selfless services of those titans in those days'
and our parents sometimes don't encourage things, they believe when you have gain your first degree you should start making money and marry that is all they are after, not further study and study.
