luluosas: General Appeal To All Nairalanders That Once Used The Glo BB Plans On Non BB Devices:
Good afternoon all.
Please, I know that a lot of us are very angry with Globacom Limited right now, over the sudden stoppage of the BB plans from working on non BB devices. I feel your pain because, I am the most devastated here. This is because, if I had not come up with this thread, none of us would have lose our hard earn money to Glo the way we just did.
Now, after considering the fact that, Glo admitted it was an error on their part for the BB plans to be working on non BB devices, it therefore sounds that, the error have now be corrected, which ultimately is responsible for our inabilities to connect to the Glo BB services using our non BB devices since on Monday, 18th February, 2013. Therefore, instead of keeping hope on the fact that this BB plans on non BB devices will work again, let us move on with our lives. If they choose to let us use it again, fine, and if they will forever keep us from using it too, fine. Life must go on.
Nevertheless, please, in order not to completely lose your money and the remaining data volume you subscribed before this painful stoppage by Glo, I encourage you to please, look, find and beg any friend of yours to please lend you his/her Blackberry device, so that you can consume the remaining data volume before it expires if possible. I for one, my remaining 1255MB is going to be wasted as I don't have any close friend around with a BB phone.
One thing that is constant in LIFE is CHANGE:
Although this change from Glo came bitterly, let us embrace it and adjust to the challenges it has created. If Glo people were thinking that, stopping this BB plans from working on non BB devices was their best option to maintain their network, then, they have just succeeded in cutting a BIG hole on their purse, as there is certainly going to be a mass movement from their network to other friendlier telecoms service providers in Nigeria, particularly as it relates to data volume allocated on subscription.
Today, 23rd February, 2013, I finally subscribed to Airtel's BSM of N1,200 for 1GB data volume. Although the Airtel network is very frustrating at the moment in my location, I still prefer it that way, than subscribing to Glo Always Micro data plan of N1,000 for a miserable 200MB data volume. This is my way of protesting this abrupt end by Glo to the BB plans on non BB devices.
Glo, remember that it is we Nigerians that have kept you in business since you joined the bandwagon because, you are OUR OWN BRAND but, this treatment you meted on us is already creating disaffection among your subscribers. We are not happy with you at all.
Our Stand On This Matter Right Now:
Glo, We (Nigerians) are therefore not begging you to bring back the BB plans to be working again on our non BB devices but, you should as a matter of urgency reduce your current charges on your HSI internet subscription or, increase the data volume above what is presently obtainable. You should know that, your customers are KINGS, why you our service provider is our SLAVE. The disparity between BB and HSI subscription on your network is damn frivolous. Correct and adjust this abnormalities and you will see us (Nigerians) embracing your internet subscription plans again. Thank you.

Wow !!! So finally, Glo has woken up and blocked their BB plans from browsing on non BB devices. Wanted to give the advice here to keep things coded as similar free browsing techniques or plans have been discovered & blocked but decided to hold my piece. Well, I hope everybody enjoyed it while it lasted. Thank God for Fiber Internet at my office, I don't bother myself with any GSM network plans anymore for any heavy downloads apart from light browsing.

@luluosas,

What's up, bro ?! I told you Glo in Yola was bad. Have switched over to Airtel for my BB since last month. Atleast, having 3G makes up for the poor EDGE services of Glo here. But its not all bad as regards the Glo BB plans. 3GB for use on BB is still the largest I know considering Airtel & MTN both give you 1GB while Etisalat is unlimited.

My friend, I subscribed to the Airtel 1GB this morning. The Airtel service to be frank is very poor even with 3G network.

To all those using different combination of blackberry apn and think they are browsing with their bis, try to put anything in d apn setting(like ur name) and see if it wont browse. Remember dat glosecure might take days before ur credit is removed. Mind u. Even if u dont put anything under apn now, ur glo line will browse. Either with ur credit or thru ur data bundle. It is only wen u put a defined glo apn (like blackberry.net ) that it wont browse on non bb fones

I have been using airtel bis on my android phone for like 6 months now and I have never experienced wiping of mb. even when I switched to glo bis for 3 weeks without touching the airtel, I came back to meet my mb intact on airtel after glo blocked their bis
