everybody has one or two tales to tell when it comes to their experiences in life..life is not beautiful even if you have the most beautiful eyes to view it..sometimes when i sit and reminisce about my past too it seems just like i affront the nature..keep believing in yourself and keep hoping..tough time never last but tough people do..be tough yourself and keep praying..i hope some peeps here will be able to help you as you called..

Brought tears to my eyes.

I faced the same fate as you some years ago. I did not do the UME because i was gonna go to the UK to study for undergrad. I was denied the visa. That was how i took a late PCE form.

My aunt told me 'never put your eggs in one basket'.

Hoping the very best for you and i am sure you will smile soon.

Help a brother out. Touching story. But believe me, at 28, you are still young. No need for depression.

somebody said a man with no shoes wanted to hang himself
and climb up a tree to eat his last bunch of banana's before
putting on the fatal neck tie.
but below the tree was a man with no legs eating the peels
the suicidal man was the throwing down.
the rest is obvious.
You say you are completely broken.
you say you are more than depressed.

in 2001 , i was rounding up my studies - i was in my final year.
great.
i was 23 then.
my grades wouldn't be stellar, i knew that.
But i never knew i wouldn't get to have my result until 2009.
i lost an extra year and ASUU strike took its toll yet i still plugged
on.
determined to finish what i started and move on.
Did anybody tell me that for 6 years(2004-2009) I'd be on the road
asking my university to compute and release my result to me!?
i got my result at age 31
( too old for nysc! how can some1 who ddnt start school late,
didn't drop out,wasn't rusticated,
etc)

I've been at home for 4 years with no job prospects!
which brings the total number of lost years to 10!
you said you lost 2 years etc. 10 years of my life has
been decimated!
You have a 2.2 i have a 3rd class.
how old am i ?
I'm 35.

I've suffered irregular heart beat, high blood pressure,
ulcers, severe depression, psychological trauma,
i now have a medical condition i can't explain.

I asked out of honour that I sue for damages - but i had no money.
parents said no!! -
You are looking for graduate entry job - great.
I cant even dream of applying for a 2.1 job, or an entry level job.
my years have been eaten off by the canker of delay,
and my grade is a write off.

My labour was to upgrade the paper. and i could have done so by
now even topping it with 2 papers (degrees ) long ago but
for the delay.

35, 3rd class. leaving with parents. no job. perennially broke.
when i started year one, my sibling was in primary school.
now that one has held down 3 jobs!
When people hear of my story , i posted for advice here in 2010 or so,
they instantly take sides with the university.
how do you issue a students result to him/her 6 years late and not
ruin his prospects!
at age 25 i had written my project(thesis).
my result should have been issued to me the next year(2004) but
the department was run by shit heads.
yes i bagged a 3rd class so what?
compute my result and give it to me!
it took the retards 6 long years to do so. and in the process
they made me look like the one delaying the result, fools of lecturers
call you non-academic material, they say they're just pitying you,
stupid fools think they're doing a favor graduating you!
I don't want to enumerate the implications of such time loss on
an individual.

When things were getting to a head, i took toefl and ielts scores
applied to a school that was sympathetic to me,in asia,
the admission was contingent on my university degree- i was sure that
that year I'll have it issued to me so i took the risk.
behold, i was wrong, simple thing of gathering and computing my
result, had to take the department forever.
needless to say the prometric test scores all expired.

This wasn't how life was suppose to be.

people who took jamb with me at age 19 aint looking for entry level
jobs!?

I don't have a job. I don't have a source of income. no form of cash flow
whatsoever. just petty trifles that trickle in once in a long while.

We are in a new year - but it means nothing to me.
Because - there's nothing i can do to make my year better.

People tell me to just look for something to do?
like what?
say i present my c.v , where - the good places are taken,
where do i present to , what are my prospects!?
it will be the most menial and low class jobs that
I'll have to settle for then what.

how to do you tell a 19 year old taking jamb that his life would end
up like this.
that at age 35 he'd still be in a hopeless condition.
How do you reason with parents who should have helped you and come
to your defense clutch their purse strings!!
how!
i know there's no future in any menial low paying job.
so I'm not fooling myself.
some jobs are dead ends.

. It could have been worse, as you can see from my story.
my story is true not fiction.

Sweetheart, I feel so sad for you. I can only imagine what you've been through. Gosh, your parents are the best for putting up with you all this while till date. Yeah, imagine things from their own angle too.By now, they must expect that their financial supporting days for their wards will be OVER! Sweetie, why not learn a trade since your cert is a no no to work with?Very soon, you will start thinking of getting married and starting a family, you know? By then, the grade on your cert wouldn't still have changed but whatever you've learned to do would have changed you. Pls, forget the cert, use your education and exposure to learn something new. I know it is easier said than done but in your case, it is the only thing to do. God will surprise you this year if you only lift your hands for Him to lift you up. God bless you my Brother.
Re: Success by bizzle2: 12:50pm On Jan 29, 2013
well said @ moreni, ..@most, learn a trade, get into commerce or acquire som skills...dats d way forward bro
Re: Success by 2sexy(m): 1:01pm On Jan 29, 2013
@Most, I feel you bro. As for nairalanders not believing your story, it could only be the circle of those who had the full financial support of their parents while in school. So to them, you were probably among the "never do well". That's how they see it.

I have tasted both so I dont laugh or blame people for whatever grades they come out with.

During my OND, I was very sound and focus because I had the needed financial backing of my mum. Infact every semester there was always an increase in my GPA and I almost had distinction in my last semester.

After I lost my mum, a lot happened and I couldnt proceed to do DE at a Uni. So I went back to do HND at my former school. At this stage I struggled to the best of my ability.

But one thing that has kept me on is my positive mindset and openess to anything that will put money in my pocket. I have develop my financial intelligence to give me the needed backing.

And I dey network die!

OP, can you see that we should always be grateful to God for whatever condition we find ourselves?

Dont Give Up!
Re: Success by Lifted1(m): 2:14pm On Jan 29, 2013
@most...sad story, rily srry to hear dt. Like oda folks already said, a degree is not the beginning and end of good things in life, a university education is neither a guarantee nor a prerequisite for becoming successful.articulate ur interests and pursue with passion. I knw what mine are, and God willing 'm gonn get where I want to be. In addition to what suggestions hv been made...prepare urself for oppurtunities; acquiring certain IT/computing skills is not a bad idea.seekers of such skills usually arent interested in ur grade, they jst need the job done well.and u could evn work freelance. I for instance am actively involved in commerce/trading, and continue to learn sm engineering softwares; keeping my eyes on the mark, preparing myself for oppurtunities.

@2sexy, bro.... I'm more than grateful to God. I'm not complaining or whining either,...I'm simply telling my story , selling my potential and reaching out. its only natural to feel down whn these things occur the important thing is to be unrelenting in your pursuit
Re: Success by 2sexy(m): 3:51pm On Jan 29, 2013
Lifted, exactly! We have to keep on fighting!

@Most, have you ever thought web development and website design? You have set yourself up for something.

Those who can design stunning looking website can make good money for themself.... Please, just try and add something to yourself bro... And make some money for yourself.

I am not based in Lagos anymore else, I would have loved to reachout to you one on one and see how best I can help out.
Re: Success by Lifted1(m): 3:57pm On Jan 29, 2013
thanks, appreciate the goodwill
Re: Success by Most1: 4:52am On Jan 30, 2013
@2sexy @ moreeni @all thanks for the encouragement.
I really had doubts about sharing my story cuz it lookd too terrible.
and people kinda retreat from the unlucky like they do the HIV positives.
but if it will encourage i'll share it.
no matter what happens i do thank God i've not committed suicide cuz i do pine for the lost years.
But the days of pining are over. I just have to move on.
man is an eternally hopeful creature-
after devastation and war , despite all losses , he begins to rebuild.
there's nothing else to do but build on.

@2sexy
yes, i've considered I.T certifications.
and i plan on taking them this year - in computer computer programming , i have 5 years experience in it ,i'm self taught and its the only productive diversion that i indulged
in when my life was on pause.
my only limitation is the Money thing - i'll grovel and beg to get it - since i have no
job. (i'm in the process of liquidating a bequeathment. my inheritance.its not much at all.)
Thanks for trying to reach out to me. God bless you.
God bless "lifted","moreeni" and all.
we've got to move on. this is life shi.t happens.
@lifted
I share your pain,in the sense that i can in some form empathise with you, so please move on. infact, let the dissapointment serve as greater fuel for a more intense bounce back into success.
P.s
Maybe if things turn up better for me- i'll post here on the turn around.
if things dont go well and i never recover fully, well..
Re: Success by 2sexy(m): 8:21am On Jan 30, 2013
@Most, thanks for the prayers and I say Amen to that.

You have to open yourself to opportunity. Forget about people who dont believe. The Jews still dont accept Jesus as their Messiah and who are you?

There is a thread on importation at the business section. Please avail yourself to read through. If the money aint there, dont worry just read.

In life, it is our determination God sees that make him produce miracles in us. He get so moved by the determination...
