1* It was spelt out that GEOGRAPHY is required to study Pub admin but what if one does not have Geography?

SSCE or JAMB? If it SSCE, i think its compulsory o esp to those in fac of Social sciences and Administration

2* In a situation whereby one secured admission in to studdy Local Govt Studies, can he cross to Public admin in 200L as they are in the same faculty?

it do happens. Intrafaculty transfer is easier and faster than Interfaculty transfer. I heard the story of one guy who wanted to cross from Zoology to Medicine. Zoology dept has released him, yet Medicine hasnt accepted him. His name was neither here or there.

3* In addition to (2) above, what are the requirements one must meet before he can cross to another course within the same faculty?

a good GP will determine that. Nothing else

4* In addition to (3) is the O'level going to be part of the requirement again?

NO. Thats why why most of our courses irrespective of ur faculty are the same in the 1st year

Olastep1: Before i gist you about Academics in OAU's perspective, lets discuss about freshers verification....

Am telling you now cos its stil fresh in my memory though i just downloaded it from my medulla oblongata...



I pains my heart the day my friend was 'deported' from his choice course to another course.

And apart from that, i witnessed one in my faculty and heard about five cases of students who are somehow related to me i.e friend's friend.

I'm telling you early enough to help you know what you're doing... Infact, you'll be lucky enough if you arent denied the admission.

Please and please, i'm going to list the major requirements. I may not go into detail for now. If you're stil sleeping, browsing and waiting for the admission lists/letter. Its good but please, find something to do about the requirements.

Dont feel that the professor your dad knows will help you do that#


Inshort,

1). Your SSCE result whether WAEC or NECO at not more than two [2] sittings. Mind you, OAU does not accept NABTEB results. It should contain the credit passes (A1, B2, B3, C4, C5, C6) only in the necessary subjects. You can mix WAEC and NECO results. It's allowed. I dont need to remind you that English and Mathematics is needed except you want to study Traditional Medicine (Herbalist). And Chemistry, Physics and Biology for any science student.

2). Your Jamb and Post-Jamb results slip.

3). Your OAU Admission Slip which will be made available to you later on.

4) Your Certificate of Origin. It must be from the Local Govt you wrote in Jamb registration. It must be signed and stamped. You'l present the Original during your verification.

5). Your Birth Certificate from the Hospital OR Declaration of Age from any High Court in Nigeria. It may not necessary be from your Local Govt.

6). More than 30 passport photograph. Dont worry, it's less costly in school. So, you can wait til then.

7). Your Jamb Admission Letter. I intentionally put it as the last because its not that necessary. The reason is because your OAU admission letter may not be on Jamb website during the period of verification. But you'l be asked though.

i heard sometyms ago dat Medcin doesnt accept students 4rm Biochem except Microbiology, Zoology n few others. Though, nobody wil paste it; its common knowledge to those involved.

The negotiations between the
Academic Staff Union of
Universities (ASUU) and the
Federal Government collapsed
again yesterday as the
lecturers have pulled out of
the Governor Gabriel Suswam-
led Committee on Needs
Assessment of Nigerian
Universities.
In a letter detailing its reasons
for withdrawing from the
committee, ASUU said that the
committee had not made
progress on the issues for
which it was set up, adding it
was not satisfied with the way
the N100 billion raised by
government to rehabilitate
structures in the universities
was being managed.
Worse still, ASUU in the letter
dated August 26 and signed by
its National President, Dr. Nasir
Isa Fagge, accused the Suswam
committee of not being, clear
on its plans for managing the
funds. It cited the inclusion of a
"Project Administration Fund,"
even as it queried the manner
which funds were allocated to
universities slated to benefit
from government's
intervention.
The letter stated that, "we have
also noted albeit quizzically, that
some N1.975 billion was
allocated to the 62nd university
called Project Admin Cost.
"We see no justification for
allocating an amount more than
what is allocated to four
universities put together to a
bogus Project Admin Cost". The
striking lecturers who had
earlier announced their
withdrawal from negotiations
with the government, said that
until the activities of the
Suswam committee are carried
out transparently and its
misgivings on the modus
operandi of the committee are
addressed, ASUU will not return
to the committee.
"In view of the foregoing, ASUU
will be unable to continue in
the membership of the
committee until the issues
raised are properly addressed",

Only freshers pay more money. I paid abt 50k total including acceptance, fees n accommodation. Next session, i'l only pay abt 11k. Same thing applies to most fac, infact some pay far less esp fac of education n few others. I'm gisting u nw cos there's always a deadline, infact, scratch cards of payment are always exhausted b4 deadline. And u know what it means...?
