"Flow why u dey waka like dis, u break ur leg?" Ilorin asked as i walked into the compound that night. "nothing happen to me ooh, only be say i fall from bike, u don come back from Ilorin?" I said. "i don come back oh, Our LGI say him wan see me, him call me for phone nahim make me come back" Ilorin responded. "guy Hope say no Wahala? because that our LGI na bad man oh, naso him hala me well well when i tell am say i wan apply for another NYSC ID card that time wey My NYSC ID card loss?". "i don go see am, na him house i just dey come from now" Ilorin added. "wetin him talk na? because him been dey talk your case for CDS last week, hope say dem never give u service extention oh?" i asked. "go baf come, i go yan u everything" Ilorin responded.

I took my bath, and headed straight to Ilorin's room. There was no way i would have slept in my room. No way. "oboy i no go follow una pass out next month oh, i don get service extention oh, LGI say him don forward letter go Abuja make dem extend my service year to another one year oh" Ilorin said as we both sat in his room eating. "oboy oh dat one na carry over be that oh" i said. "nahim make me dey vex na. Him say i go stay for Ilesa until Tola born the pekin. If she born finish, i go com marry her, if i no wan marry her i go carry my pekin go" Ilorin explained. "so dem no go give u ur discharge certificate until the girl born? Na una agreement be that?" i inquired. "na our agreement oh, naso the girl mama and Papa want am sef" Ilorin added.

The Ilorin i used to know is a completely different Ilorin, he had really lost so much weight. It was as if he was ill. The fun in him had suddenly fizzled out.

Ilorin was going through a traumatic experience likewise me. So it was all man for himself. He should carry his cross while i carry mine. But, my cross was sure heavier than his, or so i tot.

As i massaged my aching ankle with Ilorin's Aboniki, i suddenly heard a noise outside. Just when we wanted no more troubles in our compound, trouble was already knocking.

"where Victor? Na u be Victor?" someone shouted outside, "no be me oh, e dey toilet" a voice that sounded like Sammy's responded.

Next day.

What happened the previous night surprised everyone, the policemen refused telling us Angom's offence. It was when Sammy and Kelvin went to the station in the morning that they were told Angom supplied a poisonous beans.

Poisonous beans that haven't killed anyone yet, but like ten persons were in the hospital bed as a result of the toxic effect to their system. It wasn't that Angom had been supplying poisonous beans all this while, just that the last supply he got from the North wasn't stored properly.

Ilorin travelled to Ilorin very early that morning leaving the key to his room with me.

I was sleeping with one eye opened in Ilorin's room that night, thinking Tobi would pay my room a visit. He did paid my room a visit.

"where the boy wey get dis room?" Tobi yelled B''anging at the door of my room. Sammy rushed out of his room and said, "him don travel". "na God save am, if i catch am ehn? Tell am say make him no come back to Ilesa oh, unless him wan die" Tobi said. As i heard footsteps as he and his guys walked out, i was also hearing my heart beating fast wanting to tear my chest.

Sammy saved me. I had initially told him that whoever came knocking at my door, he should tell that person i travelled.

"so Tobi wan kill me abi, but why Yoruba people wan use Ibo boy like me do ritual. Their ritual no go work because i no from their place, i go call Bad pekin make him bring baggas from OAU come fight Tobi and him guys oh" I tot lying on Ilorin's bed.

Since Tobi wanted War between the Eiye(correction made) and the Baggas, i would spark up a war. But one thing for sure was that i would be just a spectator. Even in my sch days, when war involving baggas and another cult broke out, it was either i was a "spectator" or i was a "spectator". I hated to spill blood. But baggas love spilling blood. I concluded i would call Bad pekin the next day, but i needed a tent to hide and be protected. I needed a fortress. The kind of protection i needed could be found nowhere else but in the church.
