Alright bro, i took a step last night

I went to Aliexpress, saw some cool watches, filtered them out based on their price and free shipping. I finally settled for a nice chain watch for 3.99USD. So i contacted the seller, asking him if actually ships free to naija and the company he uses to ship. He is yet to answer me though.

I went ahead to try out the "Buy Now" option. I was given a form to fill. I got confused in the telephone number tab. They asked me input my country telephone code, state telephone code and finally my phone number, all separated with hyphens. Confusion hold me! Please how did you manoeuver this area??

Also, am i getting the steps right?

+234 plus your phone number without the first zero
Example, for 08012345678, +234-8012345678

Nigeria's telephone code is +234 I guess, state telephone code I don't know.

Plus I don't think I have come across this while buying on aliexpress

they not issuing again, I opened a new account three weeks ago cause of their visa sweet exchange rate, also got an alert of 1k for verve card issuance.
Called their cc, she said they not issuing visa card for now I told her to give me master card instead of the useless verve card she said same thing not issuing for now, said they have some things to sought out with both companies before they continue issuing visa and master card.

Hello everyone and good wishes as you carry out your importation businesses. We are pleased to reintroduce our service; IBL LOGISTICS: PICKUP/WAYBILL SERVICE for non-Lagos importers.

IBL PROCUREMENT/LOGISTIC SERVICE is primarily aimed at people who live outside of Lagos and wish to do business with someone in Lagos (a buyer outside of Lagos to a seller in Lagos). Lagos residents who may not have time at their disposal can also consider the service as well.

We offer pickup/waybill delivery service from Lagos to anywhere in the country. Our service involve picking up your package(s) from your agents office or warehouse in Lagos and sending to you through your choice bus transport service or courier company and you receive at your location.

Our charges are pocket friendly, and we consider the convenience of your business as an utmost importance. N2,000 for items weighing from 0.5-5kg to most towns and cities across Nigeria. Extra charges may apply for locations explained on our thread.

Give us a try today, and even though the previous thread got lost with the Nairaland shutdown, our reputation remains the same, and has been improved upon.

We work Monday-Saturday.

The thread is here; https://www.nairaland.com/1789589/ibl-procurement-logistics-service-non-lagos#24365698

Nafizzey: thank you pls for this or Master explanation. I highly appreciate. One more thing pls..is dia restrictions attached to d minimum or maximum no. quantity of an item u can advertise there. and so on & let's say a customer happens to buy my Goods there how about pertaining Shipment(sending down to buyer)?
Thanks once more & God bless....

There is no minimum or maximum number of quantities of an items that can be advertise on both sites. I have almost 7 products or so, that I am selling on both sites and I know some people that even have up to 20 products there. What they don't allow is, if you want to post the same advert that you have already posted before without deleting the first one or changing the name.

If a customer buy your goods, some normally prefer to pick the goods from your location, (there is a shop where I normally put my products for that purpose) for any customers who prefer to pick it up (especially people in your State). For those who prefer to be deliver to their home/office, the normal charges is always N650 within Lagos and between N1,000 to N3,500 outside Lagos depending on the location (Look for some of the shipping company contact here on Nairaland). But for me, I prefer sending somebody to deliver for me than using any shipping company, as the person collect my money from the customer without delay and make sure I deliver my product to Lagos customer within 24 hours while I use transport company to send goods to customers outside Lagos after receipt of the payment for the product in my Bank Account (I normally ask the transport company for the charges before the customer will pay the full amount into my Account - but for now, I don't normally ask the transport company again, because I have already know how much a transport company will charge to almost several locations in Nigeria). As time goes on, you will also know it. You can also use TRANEX, NEURO EXPRESS (they do Cash on Delivery), UPS, EMS; if you prefer to use shipping company to deliver your goods outside Lagos (I have used them before and they delivered, is just that their charges are on the high side, unless your customer can afford it).

Wishing you the best of luck! Cheers

Buyimg from alibaba looks so difficult. can someone help simplify the procedure?
Re: Do It Yourself Importation Guide Free - Season 2 by Wizeboy(m): 4:15pm On Jul 10, 2014
Rexyl: Buyimg from alibaba looks so difficult. can someone help simplify the procedure?

Buying from Alibaba is not that difficult, kindly search through nairaland to read what everybody have wrote in the past concerning buying from Alibaba.

Let me however, provide you with few information based on personal experience.

ALIBABA is mostly a Manufacturers and Suppliers website, which makes products there more cheaper than aliexpress and dhgate.

MINIMUM ORDER QUANTITY: Based on above fact, alibaba don't normally sell per piece as it is obtainable in both aliexpress and dhgate, they sell in MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) which might be 10pieces, 50pieces, 1000pieces or even 10000pieces depending on the type of products you want to be involved in. You can buy below the MOQ on alibaba, is only that the price will be more higher than meeting their MOQ. You can also buy below the MOQ, if you can convince the Manufacturers or Suppliers that you just want to buy the few pieces as sample with a promise to meet the MOQ in the next order but that mean you will always look for another suppliers every time you want to order for such products. I normally let them realized I cant meet up the MOQ in some cases which the price might be higher than the MOQ but as time goes on, such Suppliers normally reduce the price even without meeting the MOQ once they see you as a regular customer of the product.

PAYMENT: Most of the Manufacturers and Suppliers don't accept escrow thereby, you can't pay through Mastercard or Visa Card. There mode of payment is always through T/T, Western Union, etc. To use T/T, you have to open domiciliary Account with any Nigerian banks to transfer money, you can't use Western Union to send money from Nigeria. But I normally pay through the shipping company I am using or through a friend, which I normally buy goods from, in aliexpress. If you have good relationship with any aliexpress seller, he can help you by just listing some products that worth the money on his store, which you will just order and he will just help you transfer the money to the Manufacturers/Suppliers once he receive it.

SHIPPING: There is no free shipping in ALIBABA, what they normally have is FOB, which is always to transfer your goods to China port before you will be responsible for any other shipping cost to Nigeria. If you are using Air Freight shipping, you can ask the Manufacturers/Suppliers to send the goods to your shipping company address (they always send my goods to my shipping company free of charge) before you will now be responsible for shipping cost to Nigeria.

WARNING: Becareful when buying from ALIBABA because there are many scammers on the site, always ensure that you transact business with a GOLD MEMBER and moreso, I always ensure that any Manufacturer/Supplier I deal with normally have minimum of 4 years Membership on ALIBABA. Ensure you and the supplier really talk extensively about the product and ask question when you are not clear. Always exchange several email and ask for warranty on any product you are buying before buying.

I hope this will help you a little bit in your quest of exploring ALIBABA.

@WiZboy,I learnt so much from this your post but please can I buy from a supplier that is verified by Escrow on Alibaba or is their own Escrow a scam?

Tushmum: @WiZboy,I learnt so much from this your post but please can I buy from a supplier that is verified by Escrow on Alibaba or is their own Escrow a scam?

Yes, you can buy from supplier that is verified by Escrow, according to my post, few of them use escrow but is not that common. Escrow is even to protect you from scammer, as the supplier will not be given the money until you received the goods, you are satisfy with the product and you confirm on the Escrow page.

So, escrow is the best means of payment as you are fully protected, is just that is only very few of suppliers on ALIBABA that use it.

Thanks for the clarification, may be that is why most of ALIBABA suppliers don't use it. Like I said in my post, I have never use Escrow on ALIBABA before, I have so many Chinese friends I always use their aliexpress store to transfer money or sometimes transfer money through my shipping company to the Suppliers.

walexsho: @wizeboy Which Shipping comp do you use on alibaba.

Rexyl: @ wiseboy thanks. which shipping company are you using?

Haa bro, I am so sorry, I will prefer to keep it as secret please! I have discovered over time that once you mention Shipping Company on nairaland and so many people started using them, their service normally become slow and they always become irresponsible and unreliable due to the high orders they will be receiving from nairalanders. I have change up to 3 shipping company because of that. I decided to keep this one to myself, nothing is special about my shipping company though, because they charge the same rate other shipping company charge which is $5 for normal shipping and N300 for custom clearance while $10 for express.

In case you don't have shipping company that you are using yet, you can try those suggested by Nairalanders in the past like Chrisvicmall (I have used them in the past and found them very reliable then), CHYBKE GLOBAL, ANTHAS, etc.

So, allow me to still be enjoying the uninterrupted full attention and very fast services I am currently enjoying from my new shipping company smiley smiley smiley I am so sorry for been selfish in this regard.
