INFALLIBLE actually means he cannot err in matters of faith and doctrine in his capacity as Pope.

free2ryhme: The Catholic Church is a conspicuously hypocritical, medieval, morally corrupt, covetous, sanctimonious institution, complicit in abhorrent criminal activities involving protection of pedophile priests. Its survival over the centuries has continued through the exploitation of human frailties, fear, and the promise of eternal salvation for those whose ignorance and/or innocence is such as to blind them to such deceit. It is an institution that is centuries behind the times and will continue to be so as long as the outdated and out-of-touch clergy remain above the law and cast aside society's norms and need for justice.

To quote the Greek philosopher Plato ... "Ignorance, the root and stem of all evil." That is the foundation on which this church was built and has moved on over the millennia with its insidious ambitions into the lives of so many unfortunates. Widespread ignorance in our societies and the unquestioning acceptance of religious authority blinds people to the truth ... that is how this church survives.

When the Vatican, the very 'root' of the Catholic Church, is involved in forgoing justice for the sake of reputation, is not the end of this institution near ... unfortunately not, for man is, for the most part, not a clear thinking, rational animal at all times ... there will always be blind followers who will keep this church alive and allow this institution to parasitize more innocents.

The Catholic Church is complicit in abhorrent criminal activities involving protecting and not exposing pedophile priests. This, and previous Popes, and so many of their 'priestly flock', are clearly guilty of both obstruction of justice and aiding/abetting a crime, at the very least, and/or the repugnant abuse of minors, and should be held accountable to the laws of the land. Their secrecy and lies to avoid prosecution are pathetic attempts to maintain the century's old 'status quo'. Enough is enough ... get on with it ... arrests and charges should ensue. Freedom is a luxury that should not be afforded to those who have perpetrated such evil while masquerading as pious souls.

Under the previous Pope (Pope John Paul II), Pope Benedict XVI was the chief administrator of all the secret 'files' that historically, and to the present day, came to the Vatican on child abuse in the Catholic Church's world-wide diocese. There exists a 'treasure trove' of documents outlining the abuses and the action (or more appropriately, inaction) taken by the church to cover up the abuses. It would appear at least some of these files will be released ... http://www.vatileaks.com/_blog/Vati_Leaks/post/Judge_orders_confidential_Vatican_files_to_be_released/.

When the 'health and wellbeing' of the Catholic Church and its administrators takes precedent over the physical and emotional health of its child victims of abuse, it is clear this church is morally bankrupt. Centuries have passed with no correction to its 'modus operandi' leading to the ruination of countless lives. The time has come for retribution.

Hopefully, Karma and/or the judicial systems throughout the world will deal with those who purvey(ed) their deceitful, self-righteous religious dogma, while simultaneously preying upon the naivete of adults, and the innocence and trust of the most vulnerable in our society ... children.

It would have been better he refrained from saying anything; looks like the roman catholic church as we used to know is on its lasts legs - the antichrist is near.

Pope Benedith is not power drunk. Infact, he was elected by cardinals. And no laws forbids him from retiring. He has the best reasons to step down, he hears from God and must follow God's instruction. At least obedience is better than sacrifice......
Re: God Asked Me To Retire, Says Pope Benedict XVI by ddippset(m): 9:39pm On Feb 24, 2013
He had a bad health, he prayed over it, God asked him to resign, how about that? What's all the fus about? The same hypocrites here would believe and starve and give their last kobo to one pastor or 'man of god' if he tells them god asked him to buy a private jet.

For a man to leave a highly placed position willingly takes shows humility. No man willingly can ever leave a positon of authorithy. For pope to resign as a pope dosent stop him to being a priest of God. Once a priest will forever be a priest till death.

To those that are displaying their ignorance on here, Pope is a human being just like me and you, he is striving to make heaven just like me and you, and to be honest, he is not in any way better than you and me in term of who makes the heaven, in short the bible made us to know that everybody shall be judged by his works in this world(what you did and what you failed to), so, imagine his responsibilities and to whom much is given is much expected.

As long as God's kingdom is concern, the most important thing is the work of God, and that has to continue.
That reminds me of what Christ said before he died on cross.

He said to the father; All the people that you gave to me, there's no any that got lost unless the one that chose to (e.g judas and he was warned against that also was forgiven but unfortunately for him didn't live to receive the forgiveness).

Finally, people should desist from this attitude of looking for a reason to remain in sin or an atheist, and for your information, we are christians because of christ and not because of Pope and that should be our watch word.

Pope come pope go, Rome remains the same.

Cheers!

You are asking God why he chose him before? Well for your information God is the only God who has the right to choose whoever he want.himself the pope won't even know why God did that just so you know

Please if you have nothing to say better keep your mouth shut. An honorable man resigns the seat of power when he is both mentally and otherwise incapacitated. Besides, there is a provision in the law of the church that says that in the case of ailment, the pope can resign if he deems it fit to do so.

All this long essay and grammar you are giving uss here is totally unnecessary. It has nothing to do with pope resigning or not resighning. Nobody hs called the pope god. Yes he strives to make heaven as well. That's even partly why he resigned. Re direct your epistle those those criticising the pope here for just no reason.

You can't even quote correctly, so unhappy about the lenght of my post but you ended up duplicating my post as if you'd wanted it longer.

If I understood you correctly, I shouldn't have called on those fabricating stories on the issues trailing the pope's resignation?
