I guess Abati will just use style to say sorry to Alams and that is human being for you because anybody can change at anytime. You that is condemning him "if it be you" tomorrow and for the fact that you are working for opposition today does not mean you can't work for the government in power tomorrow. The bottom line is there is no permanent friend or permanent enemy in this life, so everybody should be mindful of his comments and write-ups

In all sincerity when this is all over, i believe some people will never find atonement and abati to me is one of such men.

When ever I remember that I use to hold this guy in the highest esteem I just cringe.

Well I hope he resigns this time ........

Just wishful thinking sha

I wonder how this Abati guy must feel seeing his old articles about the government that he's worshiping now. That's why i don't trust most of these civil right activist. They're very cheap and can be bought over.
Re: What Abati Wrote About Alamiyeseigha In 2005 by Royalty1(m): 11:50am On Mar 13, 2013
If Abati has any honour left in Him he should just tender His resignation and walk away.

Else he will be talking from both sides of his mouth.
But he could just sit there and continue eating federal larrgess.

Shame.

larride: Nice article from Abati from over the years

What has changed ABATI?

MONEY and POWER.

Even Abati himself is surprised by the changes. grin. You will never truly know yourself until you taste real access to money and power.

The ScoopNG “His Excellency, the Executive Fugitive of Bayelsa state”: What Abati wrote about Alams in 2005 by TheScoop
As the uproar continues to rise over the amnesty granted by President Goodluck Jonathan to his 'political godfather', Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, it is fitting now to share this 2005 piece by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Reuben Abati.

Since we know that very soon, Abati would be out in full force, parroting the wisdom in this decision, it is important for him to see his past opinions which are on the record on this matter. It's not like this is the first time he'll be doing an about-face though or endorsing shameful corruption.

But was Abati among those that granted him pardon?

He will change his tune again. We have Segun Adeniyi as an example of what happens to social crusading journalists who taste access to money and power in Nigeria.

Please someone make me understand the rationale behind this post. Did Abati grant the pardon? This pardon was granted by- The Council of State-comprised of the president, all former heads of the government of the Federation, all former Chief Justices of Nigeria, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, all state governors and the attorney general of the federation. So I honestly don't get it. I will be surprised if Abati wrote another article yesterday praising Alams to high heavens and claiming he didnt steal or he dint deserve what he got.
At times I wonder...

THE HONORABLE THING TO DO NOW IS FOR ABATI TO WRITE A PIECE STRONGLY CANVASSING ARGUMENTS THAT INFORMED HIS CHANGE OF MIND ON ALAMS OTHERWISE ONE WOULD BE LEFT WITH NO OTHER CHOICE THAN TO SEE HIM AS ONE REPROBATE.

God bless you, i think the number is actually 95% just a meagre 5% would stand for the truth to the end.

for me, i see nothing wrong with what abati said back then and who he is now, mind u, he might have given his opinion to his boss and it was rejected, the problem is that we dont even undastnd things inn context b4 we begin to talk, that is the african man's mentality, always biased in his statement because of sentiments. do u come out publicly to fight ur boss in the office over and action he is determined to take just becos u dnt fancy the idea?Even if abati is unhappy with certain things, he wont say them nw i believe,(using Olusegun Adeniyi as an instance,Goand read his book"power, politics and death), If u are put in his postion(Abati's)i bet u wont do any better than him.Period

You are very correct. However, i differ slightly and believe that it is actually less than 1% of Nigerians that would not cross-carpet like Abati; 99% (including Nairalanders posting comments here would do the same thing if slapped with a million dollars CASH). You see, poverty (of the pocket as well as of the mind) is a terrible thing and it reduces grown men to mere prostitutes that can be bought and sold like commodities. After working twenty years and not able to have a decent house or brand new cars, most nigerians simply give up the struggle and join the vagabonds in power (VIP) to lie, loot and rape Nigeria. The promise of abuja mansions, school fees for children abroad, police escort and enough dollars to keep madam and family forever singing your praise is too tempting in a land where there is no welfare system or decent opportunities to excel. Most Nigerians that have principles do not live in Nigeria and therefore do not need any favours from "political Godfathers" in order to have a decent home, send children to a decent school and live/eat well. For those left in Nigeria, majority have had every ounce of principles and fortrightedness squeezed out of them by poverty and economic hardship. Things Fall Apart.

The above shows Abati as the greatest hypocritical pig in Nigeria's history.
Never has anyone in the history of this nation been so consistently found out to be practising exactly the opposite of what they preach. Unprecedented!

Dear MODs - you have changed "R4pe" to "Molestation" in my post. This is not what i posted and the grammar is incorrect. I'm not sure why you would delete "R4pe" from the Nairaland index of words?

@seum and bodnel asking for the reason for this thread:

Mr. Reuben Abati, as iread today, grated an interview on channels tv ds morning, speaking in defence of Mr. President's action in granting Alami state pardon
it's reported that he further said the president owes nobody an apology for his action.
It's all over the news.

Inik: That article was written when Abati was playing for Masses Fc, now he is one of the supporting strikers for Aso rock Fc so his tune will definitely change.

just the same way lie Muhammed is the top striker for ACN/ UNREGISTERED APC F.C while el-rufia formally a defensive midfielder with PDP FC before he was sent on loan as a fugitive to USA FC and now re-signed on an undisclosed fee as an attacker with CPC / APC FC.

ABATI is just like Toress who was signed from the masses FC with a huge fee but has performed so badly on the pitch allowing lie Mohammed and el-rufia to always dictate the pace of the game there by putting so much pressure on the PDP defense hence there was need to plead with doyin okupe, a veteran utility player who can strike, attack and also defend to come back from retirement just like paul scholes of man u to mark out the likes of lie Mohammed and co and he has really proven to be a utility player ever since he was re-signed for an undisclosed fee and he is now benching Toress sorry Abati who has badly dropped in form for a long time now.

Meaning they are all the same, they all stand for nothing and can change at any given time so don't be fooled by either the people at the opposition parties nor the ones in the ruling party.
they no send u but we the masses are yet to figure this, we still worship names despite the fact that we all know their antecedence and what they truly stand for yet we play blind and follow sheepishly.

You took the words outta ma mouth.
Jesus saw the zeal and passion for God's work in Saul even when Saul was prosecuting the early christians but he still took him in and redirect that his zeal to the gospel.
.
The world you see depends on the platform you stand, Abati is now in Aso Rock so you guys should just delete or burn all former thoughts or memoirs which he wrote when he was unaware of the workings of government
Please, don't misquote scriptures to satisfy your ignorance. Yes, Jesus accepted Saul who later became Paul, as a result of his sincerity. Paul admitted to his crimes after repentance and therefore, there's no basis for their comparison.
Now, in the time past, Reuben Abati was on the part of truth but, now that he wines and dine with the same set of people that have kept Nigeria in the dark, he has no moral standing to represent the truth again. Thank you.
