Honor and morals has lost its favor in Nigeria. Just praise your boss and continue getting the monetary and promotional pat on the back... I used to read Abati's piece on Guardian Newspaper he was so passionate about delivering the masses from parochial leadership, now he is on the side of the people he fought against.

waja: . Don't get it wrong. Late Yar'Adua initiated the move when he was about granting amnesty to MEND and needed Alameisegha.
Gbam!
Every sensible person in the Niger Delta warned Yar'Adua against granting those slef-styled 'militants' amnesty but he refused their advice. He wanted a quick fix to the country's falling revenue. Now everybody wants 'amnesty' including convicts and murderers!

jhydebaba: So, the fact that Christiano Ronaldo won the UEFA champions league with Man utd in 2008, he should not score against Man Utd to eliminate them in 2013

obeying your present boss will earn you another of the same boss, He is paving way for next appointment with the next president ... no relationship but interest...the man is a typical nigerian.

Abati My man you are so full of 'contraditions'. No wonder a saying "... lives with them". These was your view then, I am certain that there is another view now, still the nigerian in you I guess grin

this whole epistle of Reuben Abati to Nigerians on Alams in 2005 was written out of joblessness, Abati was jobless and looking for employment badly as guardian cud no longer pay his bills. OBJ knows his type that ws y he neva employed him, GEJ is blind man who plays to the gallery all the time. Abati now speak for the same people he has once rubbish. Shame to him. haba bros

What is Pardon?

A release, by a sovereign, or officer having jurisdiction, from the penalties of an offense, being distinguished from amnesty, which is a general obliteration and canceling of a particular line of past offenses.

- An official warrant of remission of penalty.
-The act of pardoning; forgiveness, as of an offender, or of an offense; release from penalty; remission of punishment; absolution.
-The state of being forgiven.
-To absolve from the consequences of a fault or the punishment of crime; to free from penalty; -- applied to the offender.
-To remit the penalty of; to suffer to pass without punishment; to forgive; -- applied to offenses.
-To refrain from exacting as a penalty.
-To give leave (of departure) to.

Giving pardon to Alami means that, you did wrong(2005 Abati write up), but now absolve from the consequencies.
The conclusion is that Abati is not singing a new song, but rather confirming the old song with a pardon.

take dat: The government largesse is enough to betray an original cause and shifting one's loyalty! Only few can resist the cultic broth! Abati has undergone a transformation, both of the mind and spirit! Turncoat!

Transformation agenda. Are we all going to be that dishonorable by the time GEj transforms us? Is that the agenda?

My question, was it Abati dat granted DSP d amnesty? Y all dis hate towards him? He is jus a messenger! U guys shd vent ur hatred n anger towards d President n d Council of states. Jus like everyother citizens condemned wot DSP did in 2005 dat was how Abati condemned it too. If d govt feels its now gud to pardon him, Abati's job is to tell us what d Govt has as her reasons for doing so. Enough of dis Abati trashing n trash d appropriate culprits. Thanks

To those claiming was Abati the one that granted Alams pardon? The essence of the article is to point out one of GEJ's curent media men opinion just a few years back on the man he pardonded.

If Alams is who ABATI wrote about in the article, then whoever is responsible for the pardon got it wrong.

Inik: That article was written when Abati was playing for Masses Fc, now he is one of the supporting strikers for Aso rock Fc so his tune will definitely change.

You killed it my dear!! From Masses FC in the amateurs to the great Aso Rock United!!! It's sad for me personally to see Reuben Abati of the Patito's Gang go down this self destructive road.

The big lesson I could take from this is: Watch what you post on social media like facebook and nairaland, most especially nairaland, because it might be used against you one day!

If Abati were to be your brother you Mr Accusser, and u are getting so much from him by virtue of the position he occupies, would u be this critical and insultive to him. Before we pass negative comments about others lets always put ourselves in their shoes!

Re: What Abati Wrote About Alamiyeseigha In 2005 by Thosen(m): 8:38am On Mar 14, 2013
Abati is a disappointment to the struggle for a better Nigeria - just as many other people.
Why hasn't he resigned still? Let us weigh him by the standards he has set for a honorable gentleman in the first paragraph of the article in question. By his own "standards" he has FAILED.
Failed himself and his lineage. He is a classical example of why Nigeria is a huge joke to the international community.

If he is not honorable and gentlemanly enough to resign, I think we need to remind him that there are honorable people in the society and he is unfit to address us.
Re: What Abati Wrote About Alamiyeseigha In 2005 by Vires: 12:16pm On Mar 14, 2013
There is a saying, that when you are chopping you don't have mouth to talk.
Abati's mouth is busy chopping so he doesn't have mouth to talk

For those saying he wasnt the one that granted the pardon, that's true, nether did he vote or was he present at Council meeting
BUT, if he was DISGUSTED ENOUGH by Alams action of stealing, laundrying and jumping bail then
He should be DISGUSTED ENOUGH by the decision taken by the president and council of state to grant Alams pardon - then HE SHOULD RESIGN

But would he? nope, because after all he is just a typiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiical Nigerian
Re: What Abati Wrote About Alamiyeseigha In 2005 by VolvoS60(m): 4:30pm On Mar 14, 2013
Ijebulogic:

You are very correct. However, i differ slightly and believe that it is actually less than 1% of Nigerians that would not cross-carpet like Abati; 99% (including Nairalanders posting comments here would do the same thing if slapped with a million dollars CASH). You see, poverty (of the pocket as well as of the mind) is a terrible thing and it reduces grown men to mere prostitutes that can be bought and sold like commodities. After working twenty years and not able to have a decent house or brand new cars, most nigerians simply give up the struggle and join the vagabonds in power (VIP) to lie, loot and rape Nigeria. The promise of abuja mansions, school fees for children abroad, police escort and enough dollars to keep madam and family forever singing your praise is too tempting in a land where there is no welfare system or decent opportunities to excel. Most Nigerians that have principles do not live in Nigeria and therefore do not need any favours from "political Godfathers" in order to have a decent home, send children to a decent school and live/eat well. For those left in Nigeria, majority have had every ounce of principles and fortrightedness squeezed out of them by poverty and economic hardship. Things Fall Apart.

^^^^Very true, unfortunately.

Abati did a good job in 2005. The onus lies on him to defend his boss now. He that pays the piper detects the tune.
