1.1.4? who are you, fred flintstone? best upgrade to 2.2.1 if 3.0 gives you the creeps. mostly baseband issues affect signal. updating moves your baseband firmware from version 04_04 to 04_05. that should sOrt YOu OUt.

that is the firmware version for 1.1.4. what you need is 04.05.04_G, which is the firmware version that comes with 2.x. think of the modem firmware as device driver for the modem; obviously if you have comm problems, upgrading the modem driver helps.

slight technical point of correction: upgrade your OS from 1.1.4 to 2.2.1.  .   .   .  DO IT!!!

actually "firmware" refers to the software portion that runs the modem. you can upgrade OS to a higher version (i.e 2.2 to 2.2.1 on 3G   ) without updating the firmware by using an option in mac osx pwnagetool. in the original iphone, the firmware version is the same across 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, 2.1, 2.2, 2.2.1, 3.0. that is, any upgrade to a higher OS does not upgrade the baseband.

however since version 0.7.2 redsn0w is stable and includes icy (icy is a cydia replacement; cydia and icy allow you to install patches, fixes, unsigned apps etc. you need one or both if you want to love-vendor your phone or install cracked apps), why not just go straight to 3.0?

after downloading, place it somewhere convenient (like your desktop), connect your phone, fire up itunes (you need to be online), hold shift, click RESTORE, select the file wait. when its done you'll get the itunes logo and a locked screen. run redsnow to activate, jailbreak and unlock. since your baseband is updated as well, you'll need to select the unlock option in redsnow.

If you mean you completed the jail-break and unlock, and now you don't have any network signal, try restarting the phone. If it still doesn't work, give it some time. It's been known to take a while to find the network after unlocking.

either there is poor zain network in your area (try other sims) or your phone has genuine hardware probs.

i find it funny that even with IDA it took them so long to find it. i know i cant do it because i cannot disassemle or reverse, and my AT command k nowledge is pretty limited to pinging cell (AT+CIND?, works in motorola phones) but wtf? this is the devteam! they're losing steam.

first, some user had to fnid the vulnerability for them, and they have to use the vector found by geohot. all they did was code the payload for YS (which still is a few line of modem commands).

1. you need the nerve to cowboy up to a nuked device because this involves a 3-step flashing session, all of which is risky.

2. you must be running at least stock WinMo 6

stuff used:

1. activesync (WinMo Device Center on vista/win 7)

2. KaiserRUU Custom wrapper

3. HardSPL 3.56

4. JumpSPL 1.93

5. Olipro SuperCID (Hermes CID unlocker works just fine, ut better on SPL 3.28)

6. cooked radio 1.6 (anything lower and you may get messed modem and dead camera)

7. HyperDragon 4 ROM (any 6.1+ ROM for the Kaiser works. its best to try until you hit the one you feel ok with)

i know, but raising people's hopes and doing a demo when you're far from ready just aint cool, even if you're doing stuff for free. lots of people updated to 3.0 in anticipation and ended up with locked devices. and the devs dont even bother giving updates, just "no ultrasnow ETA". how scary is that? im reduced to using nokia (the horror), the old iphone (EDGE, ugh!!), and tinkering with WinMo.

im just saying.

all coding on ultrasnow is done, all that remains is packaging payload with loader and testing.

I beat you to the Win 6.5! Funny enough it was on a tytn 2 also, flashed the Joshkoss rom from xda-developers. Sadly the touchscreen isn't working ( wasn't working before the flash, did it in the hope it was a software issue) so still no uhuru

Microsoft released more vaporware than the Dev Team - these being software that were not free! Besides, anybody than jumped the gun and upgraded to 3.0 cannot blame the Dev Team. I had the option myself, but decided not to, until the actual RELEASE of the unlock. 2.2 is still very much OK till then.
